Avatar n tn Finally realized I am not alone with the head pressure problem. Tried to find the answer to the cause of this continuous pressure in my head working with my physician, going through multi x-rays, CAT Scan and other procedures with no results or answers. Reading posted message I was amazed of the exact description of the head pressure I have. I am 36 years old female, do not smoke, like doing sports, drink half glass of red wine with my dinner.
Avatar n tn Then I at 3 months and 3 weeks I got Chicken pox doctor gave me acyclovir anti viral. Then at 4 months I had another rapid blood test at the clinic and came back negative. But my fears were too much therefore I had another blood test at 4 months and 3 weeks. It was a HIV duo test at he clinic and it came back negative. But for last one month or so I'm having headaches time to time mostly pressure in the head. Also still worrying about the positive Oral result.
Avatar n tn In early October of this year, I made a stupid decision and had unprotected sex with someone that I trusted. She didn't realize that she had herpes and neither did I. As a result, I now have HSV-2. I had an initial outbreak in October that included visible signs as well as some pretty swollen lymph nodes in the groin.
Avatar m tn I have been recently prescribed 3 new blood pressure medications...Telimsartan, Amilodipine and Carvedilol. I also use 400mg Acyclovir to control herpes and have had no outbreaks for decades.
Avatar n tn Hair loss is not a side effect of acyclovir. there are some antedotal reports of a few folks experiencing it but it's not something that hardly anyone gets and isn't something to worry about. it also won't cause an increase in blood pressure either. Are you outside of the US? Acyclovir can be taken suppressively 400mg 2x/day for easier dosing. I recommend that dose instead of the 3x/day dose for your convenience for taking it long term.
Avatar m tn Ten days after the encounter, two small red bumps appeared on the shaft of my penis. I went to the dr the following day and he gave me a blood, urine, and culture test. I am still waiting for the results. He also prescribed acyclovir for ten days. I took the first pill right before I went to sleep. When I woke up, I checked the progress of the two bumps and they were almost gone. Two days have passed and theyre entirely gone.
Avatar m tn Hi Grace I am taking acyclovir 400mg x3 daily and pain killers (acethaminophen 500mg) although I am feeling sometimes better (maybe because of acyclovir?) my pain is localized to the right side of my genitals, it feels like a strong inward pressure. Also I am developing few new sores in my scrotum/ tip of penis. From your perspective what are the classic symptoms/ signs of genital herpes infection?
Avatar m tn no, acyclovir isn't harmful because it crosses the blood brain barrier. the 3 biggest side effects are headache, nausea and abdominal pain.
Avatar m tn No blood test for anything is 100%. It will take about 3-4 months to be positive on most tests. Sometimes people take up to 6 months. This is all dependant on your immune system. Majority of people will test positive by 4 months on all test. The HerpeSelect was the only test to come positive by 3 months.
Avatar f tn Hi, I have had 3 cortisone injections for nasal swelling and pain due to allergies. I have also been on Acyclovir for a year, to manage Herpes II infection. Also have sudden hearing loss and tinnitus in R ear diagnosed as viral, possibly herpes. After the last cortisone injection in January '09, I am having a genital herpes flareup which does not seem to be responding to Famcyclovir treatment. Also sores in my mouth. Am I possibly having a Herpes flareup due to the cortisone injections?
Avatar n tn you mean acyclovir does not suppress genital herpes? i am wondering whether being on acyclovir could be making it harder for me to determine whether i've contracted genital herpes (either by suppressing symptoms, or affecting tests). It sounds like it DOES affect blood testing...? I guess I have to endure the symptoms until enough time passes for a conclusive test. (12-16 weeks?) Or until some other symptom manifests itself (God forbid). But ...
Avatar f tn Thanks for your help. I got a phone call from my gynecologist yesterday and my second HSV2 culture was again positive, though I already knew it would be. I am scheduled for a follow up next week to do a blood test to check for acyclovir resistance. I guess the blood test has to be sent to Texas so we'll see how that goes. I always take my Valtrex at exactly the same time everyday so that couldn't be the problem. Has anyone ever heard of this happening to someone?
Avatar f tn I had a blood test at the 7 week mark and it was negative. When should I have my next blood test to be sure I'm negative.
Avatar f tn s and viral shedding, the once daily doses of acyclovir were not effective. the half life of acyclovir is very short and just taking it daily is not enough to keep the virus under control adequately.
Avatar m tn I recently had a blood test done for herpes and for type 2 the score was 1.49, so in the positive range. My dr. gave me a prescription for acyclovir. I did a little research and found that often scores in this range are false positives. I didn't have any lesions to be tested or any of the other symptoms of herpes (no fever, itching, or any flu like symptoms). How likely is it that this is a false positive? I also am a gay male and have never had unprotected sex.
Avatar m tn I had protected sex with a CSW 14 weeks ago. After a week of exposure, had fever & body pain but recovered in 10 days. Few days later noticed small ulcerations on penis. Consulted urologist & he suspected possible Herpes & prescribed acyclovir 5-days course. Had my blood test for HIV, 6 weeks after exposure...came back negative. Then, tested 10 weeks post exposure..came back negative.
Avatar f tn Hello, I had a sore on my genital area( lookn nuffn like pics I see online) and thought I might of had contracted herpes so I went to doc n got antibiotics , the sore went down tremendously... Doc took a swab and no word yet.. And dat makes me nervous bc it's been days , although I tested negative for all std's including blood wrk for herpes..!!. But it's been days now n the butt pain n muscle groin pain is excruciating.
Avatar f tn drink a shot the fluid to help knock out the flu-like symptoms. This also lowers blood pressure. I have not tried it because I do have low blood pressure at times & do not want to get my BP too low. From what I have read G-HSV1 is less severe than HSV2. So sorry that you are going through so much. I hope you get relief soon.
Avatar n tn Since you get more bang with valtrex most folks only have to take it once daily for it to be as effective as twice daily acyclovir. Neither drug really gets a theraputic blood level in the body like some medications do. Both are excreted thru the kidneys within hours.
Avatar m tn ve only had oral outbreaks so far, i asked the doctor for acyclovir and he gave me a prescription for 800mg tablets and to take them 2x daily for a total dose of 1600mg everyday as supressive therapy. i'm concerned this is too high a dose? i thought it should be 400mg and take 2x daily for a total dose of 800mg? it was an ER doctor that gave it to me because i don't have health insurance and went to the county hospital.
