I started on the prevention course but stopped today as I started to feel horrible with body aches all over, terrible headaches and slight fever (flu like symptoms). I did get a flu shot. I have now decided to stop taking the med and advised my doc of my decision. I cannot walk around feeling so ill all the time. If I do get another outbreak I'll just live with it and wait for it to go away on it's own. Since I stopped taking this med I'm already feeling better.
After his first follow-up BCG treatment course, he experienced more fatigue and flu-like symptoms than normal, and an low-grade fever. In the course of a few days he broke out in a large rash that was misdiagnosed as a fungal infection. After things got worse he was admitted to the ER the rash was easily recognized as a shingles outbreak on the S2-S3 dermatome area. He was then given a course of Acyclovir to take. Now he is having severe bladder spasms/pain, especially at night.
When I started prophylactic treatment with acyclovir, I saw a reduced occurrence for a few months, then they came back to about 4-5 outbreaks/year. I recently switched prophylactic medication from acyclovir to famciclovir, and had a 18-month period free from outbreak. Come yesterday, I had another terrible outbreak (worse than usual)... will these become more commonplace now? Is this a sign of HSV-resistance to the drug? Are there any other courses of action I can consider?
Was discontinued. With next occurrence, I asked for another anti-viral and was prescribed Acyclovir. This one caused headaches, backache, confusion and fatigue. Was stopped. I am now having a recurrence and didn't take anything. After about 7 days, I felt it was almost over, then wham....came back with a new leison and flu-like symptoms. Tried Acyclovir before bed last night, was up most of night with headache. I haven't taken anything today. I don't know what to do.
I went for a screening to planned parenthood on april 1st due to the following symptoms (burning skin sensations on back, legs, excessive sweating, sore throat, flu like symptoms and some mild joint pain) I was tested for HIV (rapid test), HSV2 , Clymidia, Gonhorea and Syphilis and was found negative on all of them but HSV2 - I immediately told my girlfriend and she went for an STD panel as well and was found to be negative for the same tests; Since the end of January (Which was the last time I
My daughter was diagnosed with Behcet's in 2008. Then in 2009 she contracted herpes (hsv2). She is now having an outbreak of herpes (starting to get under control after 2 rounds of valtrex, back on acyclovir for 2 days) and a flare of Behcet's. Prednisone will make the painful vaginal Behcet's lesions go away but will cause another outbreak of herpes.
Does anyone have any suggestions? She's about to leave for a required college trip.

I had sexual relations with my boyfriend three weeks back and we used a condom. Also I was taking acyclovir. But I had a feeling that I might have had a prodromal feeling of herpes without any sores present. He developed a fever and flu after two weeks of our contact but no other symptoms. Is it herpes if there is no other symptoms. How likely is it that he is getting herpes?
My doctor was referring to a study wehre Acyclovir slowed disease progression in HIV by reducing viral load. And so he thought Acyclovir might have a direct effect (even if it is low) on HIV. Maybe he thought that by decreasing viral load antybodies would show up later than in the absence of Acyclovir?
Since then I have had sore lower back, flu like symptoms aches and pains, feel quite cold most of the time and have had uncomfortable, regular urination. Ive took acyclovir for 10 days upon diagnosis and just about finished my course. I have not really seen any lesions appear yet. I know the virus works differently in different people but should I expect to see lesions at some point if none appeared in initial outbreak? Will I always feel this lethargic, or will it get better?
ve been seeing does not have HSV-2. We use condoms everytime we have sex I take suppressive therapy Acyclovir 800mg twice a day and am genuinely really clean always making sure to wash my hands anytime I'm intimate with her. We have sex through out the week about 2-3 days a week sometimes 2-3 times during those days. Always use condoms like I specified. This past weekend she started feeling sick started with an itchy throat and headache.
Once and awhile I will get a migraine often accompanied with with a scalp breakout and I stop taking the Acyclovir and lysine until the pain goes away. Then I resume my acyclovir and lysine. I now rarely have any problems. But I always have to go a week once and a while without my Acyclovir and Lysine. Is the herpes virus simply one of my triggers or is the herpes virus the root cause off all my migraines, I don't know. The pain and breakouts are always hemispheric in nature.
Two weeks later my blood test results came back negative for simplex 1, and a positive result of 1.49 for simplex 2. I saw the nurse at PP again and she put me on acyclovir for repressive therapy.
In the next few days I developed a large pimple like bump just at the bottom of the shaft of penis. I decided to go to a doctor to get it examined and a swab taken for a culture.
The last week I have had lower back/hip pain and a generally tired feeling all over, almost like the flu without the respiratory symptoms, and Im definitely cranky! Last night, I felt a lesion erupting. Im a nurse and have read about prodome, the lower back and hip pain I thought were just from gardening and bike riding until the lesion erupted. Is this the usual prodome pattern?
I've only been on the suppressive therapy for 2.5 weeks now, but I had an outbreak only several days after starting it. Getting plenty of sleep and food. Diet consistent between 2017 and now. Don't have HIV, often get the flu in the winter (just for a week), generally feel pretty healthy.
It started in a hot tub and continued there for maybe 30 seconds. I came to my senses and realized what I was doing and stopped and went to a couch to pass out. Somehow the next thing I remember she was on the couch with me and had gotten a bottle of some lubricant "from Germany" and was applying it to my penis. We started to have sex again but I quickly stopped her and told her I could not continue.
Few Lesions (pimple like with red base) come and go everywhere in my body (cheeks, forehead, ear pinna, eyelids, chest, arm, forearm...). I have took acyclovir only for 10 days in October and am suffering a couple of lesions coming up and clearing in few days every now and then. This is companied by random itching occurring in different parts of the body without visible lesions, I also felt some shooting pain for a few seconds (rarely) into my penis.
So far the tests other than herpes went non-reactive (I am currently waiting for herpes 1 and 2 results my primary physician entrusted me to continue taking the remaining acyclovir pills as precaution until a final diagnosis. I took acyclovir 3 more days and I stopped it to see if another rash episode appeared but so far I don’t see visible lesions in my penis like the one above described. Only a minor pain below waist still continues.
My questions are:

shooting pain everywhere in my body down to fingertips and toes and in my nodes (even underarm nodes), neck and headaches; itching, terrible burning, extreme sensitivity and pain in the vaginal area (hurts to wear underwear or to have a clean sheet skim over the crotch); flu aches and feverishness. To my knowledge I've never had an open blister or sore, which is what made the process of getting a diagnosis exceedingly protracted and difficult. Most gyns thought I was just crazy.
Two years ago, I had oral and genital sex with other than my regular partner followed - 24-48 hours later by a sore ulcerated area both sides of my vaginal walls and a copious green/yellow sticky discharge plus flu symptoms. Worried about herpes I started myself on acyclovir. Ulcerated areas disappeared 2-3 days later. Of two sets of tests [all neg for other STDs] one swab showed herpes. It was not typed. I continued to take acyclovir prophylactically. My first IGGs were neg for HSV1 and HSV2.
She wrote a script for 5 days of acyclovir and something for a yeast infection and things were better.
Then about 3 days later I noticed a few little bumps on the right side of the roof of my mouth. Again, went to the doc, she said it didnt look like herpes but probably an allergic reaction and to go to the doc if i have a get a fever or flu like.Fine. she did a pelvic exam and said everything was fine..Whatever was there said she was gone. This was 8/28/14.
t itch at all. Beginning a few days before, I felt pain in my lower abdomin or low back and felt slight flu like symptoms, loss of appetite and a headache. Not bad enough to stop my vacation. Several days later, I popped the pimples and small white pimple like stuff came out and they bled. They healed slowly, but never itched and they didn't get any bigger than about 1/8 inch diameter. I got some additional bumps, but not as many right when the first were healing.
