Avatar m tn Diagnosis of PR is very difficult and can take time, and other things such as acute gouty arthritis and acute RA need to be ruled out. Fluid can be analyzed from joints to distinguish this from others causes. CRP can be elevated as well as ESR results, but usually everything proves "normal". RA markers can be there if someone is disposed to RA. When were your last blood tests, and what were the findings? Were there anything flagged or abnormal?
Avatar n tn AA first affecting the eyelashes rarely spreads to the other parts of the body Does your child have any recent history of acute illness, blepharitis, and history of atopy or thyroid disease, or any family history of this symptom? An important differential diagnosis is trichotillomania, which usually involves both the upper and lower eyelashes. Here the patients may have a present or past history of psychiatric disorder, a habit of compulsively pulling the eyelashes.

Depending on the complete history, including family history, associated symptoms, and clinical examination, imaging findings will likely be in different anatomical locations. Avatar n tn i could have hashimotos, but my hyper phase followed by extreme hypo phase don't follow the typical hashis pattern. it seems that most people with hashimotos don't have an acute hyper phase followed by an acute hypo phase. usually people with hashimotos slowly become hypothyroid over a period of years. hashimotos is a gradual destruction, whereas silent thyroiditis is inflammation followed by recovery. only time will tell if my issue is transient. the same is with you.
Avatar f tn Long story short, his lungs have been perfectly healthy up until about 2 months ago. He had an acute onset of wheezing, retractions, dry hacking cough. X-ray showed a slight inflitrate. He was treated with antibiotics and was started on pulmacort and xoponex. 3 wks later, he had another episode. Symptoms all the same but this time x-ray showed bronchitis with no infiltrate. I took him to the ER and he was started on prednisone and we continued xoponex as before.

Avatar f tn ve had symptoms that could fall under acute stress disorder, panic disorder, general anxiety disorder, and depression. Sometimes the symptoms can fit in one catagory and then switch over to a different catagory. For example, in the past I've had frequent panic attacks throughout the day. Overtime, I've found triggers (more trivial than life threatening) for some while others just happen. Majority of the symptoms began after 2 years of profound stress.
Avatar f tn You must consult a doctor specializing in eating disorder. Loss of appetite can again be due to certain medications, drug abuse, depression, AIDS, acute and chronic infections, eating disorders, cancers and hypothyroidism. This needs to be investigated thoroughly. Please consult your PCP for primary examination followed by proper referral to a specialist. Take care! The medical advice given should not be considered a substitute for medical care provided by a doctor who can examine you.
Avatar m tn The CT was negative for acute injury but did have a note for me to follow up with neurology. The note said that I have right parahippocampal atrophy, and this wasn't of concern IF I have a seizure disorder, which I do not. The doctor was concerned that I have a strong family history of Alzheimer's disease in my family and this is apparently a good indication that I will too. She was very concerned to see this result since I am only 28 years old.

Avatar n tn Hi, welcome to the forum, a detailed history is needed which will help to come to a conclusive diagnosis. There is a history of palpitation. Panic attack, which is a bout of sense of insecurity and loneliness. This is common during such circumstances esp. with the family conditions, stress and responsibilities. The medical causes needs to be ruled out like low blood sugar, hyperthyroid state, cardiac abnormality etc.

473760 tn?1215219977 I know that there are different diagnosis within bipolar disorder. I have been diagnosed as having bipolar 1, with no history of rapid cycling. Lately I have been having severe rapid fluxes between mania and depression. Is it possible that because I am going through a severe stressful situation that my moods are fluxuating so rapidly? Or is it possible that this has always been the case, the symptoms are just now much more obvious? I'm not sure which is more likely.

Avatar f tn Post-traumatic stress disorder is a type of anxiety disorder as I understand so yes it can be one reason your heart failure developed. I strongly believe mine happened because of high stress level for years and very high for a few months. Even with family history, viral infection, and long time not treated high blood pressure that all also factors, and I had them all ,if the stress level wasn’t that high that I had I probably never get down that suddenly and badly.
Avatar f tn Hi Kaneda2112. Thank you so much for your response. Yes, I was tested for H. Pylori and I was negative. I don't drink or do drugs. The most likely culprit on your list is stress. I was diagnosed with a generalized anxiety disorder (I'm on meds for it) many years ago. Since my stomach has gotten worse I've been trying to learn different ways to alleviate and deal with stress.
