Common Questions and Answers about Acute gastroenteritis symptoms

gastroenteritis

Avatar m tn AIDS acute period will appear similar to the symptoms of acute gastroenteritis? Symptoms lasted for about four days, infusion improvement in 3 days. It is the acute phase of AIDS symptoms?
Avatar n tn Blood transfusions are safe these days, you're stuck on the fear of a transfusion based on incidents where people acquired HIV early on in the epidemic. The blood supply is safe, your daughter has no HIV concerns. You need to listen to your daughter's doctor and seek some professional help for yourself to help you move on. It sounds like she has a stomach flu, which is in NO way related to HIV.
Avatar n tn I spent 4 days in the hospital with electrolytes out of balance due to dehydration from uncontrollable diahrrea and vomiting; diagnosed as Acute Gastroenteritis. A year ago I began having intermittent bouts of vomiting bile every few months. Have been on all PPI's and Acid Reflux controlled pretty well but still have vomiting episodes. What's your recommendation? This leaves me wiped out for a couple of days with tenderness in stomach and right abdomen.
Avatar f tn It could also be food intolerance, both food allergy and food intolerance can cause symptoms of nausea, vomiting or abdominal pain. The difference being in food allergy the IgE antibodies are increased. If symptoms are acute it can even be due to an infection, gastroenteritis. So, if your symptoms persist consult your doctor for an evaluation. Hope this helped and do keep us posted.

N next morning with the dull pain that comes n goes. Ouch! Is it normal???? Im scared im praying to god to please let it not be nothing else..
Avatar m tn Do these symptoms sound like ARS? Could something have gone wrong with the massages (e.g. unclean towels, removal of condom during oral) that exposed me to something nasty? Or did something go wrong with the prostate massage causing an infection of some kind (acute prostatitis)? I am thinking it might be gastroenteritis (I have seen a doctor) but the fever has not subsided for 1.5 days now and I did not disclose that I had such massages to my doctor.
Avatar n tn Hello! I seem to have unfortunately caught gastroenteritis. I was given Ondansentron and it helped immensely. However, I can't sleep. I'm so wired and my stomach still hurts but luckily, no side effects. Is this normal? Is it the gastroenteritis or the drug?
Avatar n tn What should I be looking for regarding symptoms of this disease? He is one of two cats abandened after a fire. The other is a american short hair female. The female was not diagnosed with the disease at two years of age and was vaccinated.

Avatar m tn I went to the emergency room, they made an ecography on my belly and a complete blood count. The doctor said the CBC was totally fine, but the ecography revealed gastroenteritis. She gave me paracetamol, ciprofloxacin and bismuth pectin. The fever promptly went away and did not came back, I still have diarrhea but much milder (I'm writing this a day later). I was wondering if this could be acute retroviral syndrome.
Avatar f tn Viral gastroenteritis symptoms may appear 1-3 days after you are infected and can range from mild to severe. Symptoms usually last just a day or two, but occasionally they may persist as long as 10 days. Because the symptoms are similar, it is easy to confuse diarrhea caused by viruses with diarrhea caused by bacteria (e.g., Clostridium difficile, salmonella, and E. coli) or parasites (e.g., giardia). If your symptoms persist, see your doctor for further workup and management.
Avatar f tn The bowel problems of diarrhea and nausea after eating may be due to GERD(gastro esophageal reflux disease), acute non-GI infections (pyelonephritis, pneumonia),gastroenteritis, liver diseases, pancreatic disorder, peptic disease of upper GI tract, gastric carcinoma,CNS diseases like infections, tumors, multiple sclerosis and metabolic disturbances like diabetes and adrenal insufficiency. I sincerely advise you to consult a physician/gastroenterologist and discuss these with him.
Avatar f tn But its specifically on my side, not my back or tummy. Its been a week since symptoms started. Symptoms include a constant achy feeling in the area, sharp pains in the area when i lay down or move positions or laugh or cough. I went to the doc after 5 days. He said its just viral gastroenteritis. I looked up the condition and it says you have vomiting and/or diarrhea, but i have neither. I am worried it is appendicitis, but the appendix is on the right side, not left.
Avatar m tn If you had protected sex, chances of HIV are less. However, if condoms were used, then they can leak or burst. Yes, acute HIV infection can start within three days. However, shooting pain and diarrhea can be due to viral or bacterial gastroenteritis or stomach flu as well. I suggest, you get stool examined for infection.
Avatar m tn I would agree that it is far more likely that your symptoms are due to a gastroenteritis that ARS. I would say this is the case for three reasons. They are: 1. Your exposure was no risk. HIV is not spread without penetration and the simple act of getting a partner's genital secretions on you, even near a site such as your anus, is still no risk. 2. Your partner said he did not have HIV and most people do tell the truth about such things. 3.
Avatar n tn My daughter is 14 months old and she has has watery diarrhea and vomitting. When she was born she was perfectly healthy, but once I had to return to work I began to give her formula and that's when she began to have these complications. She began to have watery diarrhea and vomit. I took her to the doctor and they said she had gastroenteritis, but it's been a while now and she is still the same? Does anyone know what could possibly be wrong? Thank you.
Avatar f tn Hi It could be a case of gastroenteritis (gut infection) which has led to diarrhea and vomiting. The main symptoms of gastroenteritis are diarrhea and vomiting although one or the other symptom may predominate. If the symptoms persist (>1 day), worsen or lead to other complications you should consult your doctor who could order some tests such as stool examination etc. In the meanwhile take rest and drink lots of fluids to avoid dehydration.
Avatar m tn around 2 months ago i started having cold/flu symptoms i tried to treat them herbally with umka cold care wich i found at wholefoods echinacea and emergen-c. they had no effect i then left for madrid, spain for about a week when i returned and went to the emergency room i was vomitingdown to bile and allthough i had been constipated for the whole trip in spain i suddenly started having water like bowel movements.
Avatar f tn I was hospitalized a few years ago with severe vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal pain and dehydration. I was diagnosed with gastroenteritis and acute pancreatitis. This is the only major GI problem I have ever had. I am very slender, 105 pounds, so I was wondering if maybe it was normal to feel a lump during digestion just because I am skinny and it's easy to feel my anatomy, or if I should be more concerned. Thanks!
Avatar f tn Thank god i have yearly allergies which I think are worsening as the summer arrives which could be the cause of most of my symptoms.
Avatar n tn Hi, Having been overly concerned with an exposure myself that everyone says is non risk I've come to familiarize myself with many of the facts regarding symptoms. As I've been told many times over symptoms are never a good indicator. The slightest symptom can raise your anxiety level which in turn can cause more symptoms. ARS as I've been told cant start sooner than 10 days.
Avatar n tn onset of symptoms: a few hours to a few days. -nausea -general weakness -headache -abdominal pain with cramps -vomiting and/or diarhea -Viral gastroenteritis (aka stomach flu) some signs & symptoms: -loose watery bowel movements -low fever -abdominal cramps -aching muscles/ possibly headaches If diarhea and vomiting persist for more than 2 days see your Doctor. Any child with both vomiting and diarhea should be taken to a Doctor right away.
