Avatar f tn On day 7 of a severe case of gastroenteritis. Everything seems to have calmed down, but once I try and eat anything stomach cramps start, which are unbearable. Sometimes followed by diarrhoea. Is this normal after a severe case of gastroenteritis or do I need to see my G.P again?
Avatar n tn My 2 year old has blood in his stool, dark not bright red, and when I took him to the ER, they said acute gastroenteritis. Basically, acid reflux or stomach ulcers. They didnt do any radiology tests on him, just blood work and a stool sample. We have to wait at least 48 hours to get the stool sample results to find out if it could be a bacterial infection.

Avatar n tn I spent 4 days in the hospital with electrolytes out of balance due to dehydration from uncontrollable diahrrea and vomiting; diagnosed as Acute Gastroenteritis. A year ago I began having intermittent bouts of vomiting bile every few months. Have been on all PPI's and Acid Reflux controlled pretty well but still have vomiting episodes. What's your recommendation? This leaves me wiped out for a couple of days with tenderness in stomach and right abdomen.
Avatar f tn This could be due to gastrointestinal issues like acute gastroenteritis or infection. Have this checked by you doctor for further evaluation. Your medical history and direct clinical examination are important to determine the underlying cause. Take care and do keep us posted.
Avatar f tn I have been taking nexium - 40mg Last month, while overseas i suffered abdominal pian and chest pain and had nausea and vomitting. I was taken to the hospital and the diagnoses as acute onset of enteritis. Lately, I have been having stomach pains and at the same time lower back pains. Avatar f tn Here's some more information on Viral Gastroenteritis: http://www.medhelp.org/medical-information/show/383/Viral-gastroenteritis It doesn't really sound like the stomach flu to me. If you're worried, you can always get a second opinion. You can also try the Symptom Checker to see what other causes of your pain might be: http://www.medhelp.org/symptomsearch?
Avatar f tn The bowel problems of diarrhea and nausea after eating may be due to GERD(gastro esophageal reflux disease), acute non-GI infections (pyelonephritis, pneumonia),gastroenteritis, liver diseases, pancreatic disorder, peptic disease of upper GI tract, gastric carcinoma,CNS diseases like infections, tumors, multiple sclerosis and metabolic disturbances like diabetes and adrenal insufficiency. I sincerely advise you to consult a physician/gastroenterologist and discuss these with him.
2103698 tn?1333690107 I would suggest that you bring this issue up (if you haven't already) to your parents. I am surprised that you are seeking such advice from strangers when you should be telling your folks.. Of course you are always welcome to post any medical concerns.. I am just wondering if you've told your parents. You are 12 years old hun and your parents should be informed of this problem. You probably need to be evaluated by your family doctor.
3166043 tn?1514260018 This is likely to be a viral gastroenteritis which should subside on its own in 5-10 days. I would suggest taking plenty of fluids with added sugar and salt/ commercially available oral rehydration solution to compensate for the fluids lost. If the symptoms do not settle in 5-10 days or there is development of additional symptoms such as blood in stools, I would suggest an evaluation by a primary care physician for appropriate management.
Avatar m tn Hi Shannon, You are more than Welcome in the Pain Management Community. I have consulted with the moderators so they can determine where your question will receive the best response. I am so very sorry to hear about your horrid pain. We can relate and my heart goes out to you. My concern for you is this appears to be acute rather than chronic pain - not that both can't be just as extreme and interferes with our life and daily functioning.
Avatar m tn If you had protected sex, chances of HIV are less. However, if condoms were used, then they can leak or burst. Yes, acute HIV infection can start within three days. However, shooting pain and diarrhea can be due to viral or bacterial gastroenteritis or stomach flu as well. I suggest, you get stool examined for infection.
Avatar f tn Like other migraine management, both acute and preventive medications may help. Anticonvulsant medication or calcium channel blocker may help reduce the number and severity of future attacks while for severe attacks like intravenous valproic acid or magnesium sulfate may be indicated. Take care and best regards.
Avatar f tn It could also be food intolerance, both food allergy and food intolerance can cause symptoms of nausea, vomiting or abdominal pain. The difference being in food allergy the IgE antibodies are increased. If symptoms are acute it can even be due to an infection, gastroenteritis. So, if your symptoms persist consult your doctor for an evaluation. Hope this helped and do keep us posted.
