Avatar m tn AIDS acute period will appear similar to the symptoms of acute gastroenteritis? Symptoms lasted for about four days, infusion improvement in 3 days. It is the acute phase of AIDS symptoms?
Avatar n tn I went up there and took her to the doctor and she was basically told is was a stomach virus (gastroenteritis) drink plenty of fluids and it should go away in a couple of days but when I look up Gastroenteritis it says that it's common in people with weaken immune system caused by HIV. She took her 3 month birth control shot the morning before but I'm sure that didn't cause Gastroenteritis. My question is should I be concerned about HIV at this point.
Avatar n tn Acute Gastroenteritis means "Your stomache hurt really bad, suddenly". You have WAY more serious issues than that! See a gastro doctor ASAP. Bile should NEVER, EVER leave your mouth. Get some keto strips (to pee on) at the pharmacy desk (about $6.00 for 50) and use them REGULARLY. Twice a day will do, until you are well. They indicate ketones in your urine that accumulate when you are dehydrated. BUY PEDIALYTE SINGLE PACKS in the baby section at a grocery store or Walmart type store.
Avatar f tn I was hospitalized a few years ago with severe vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal pain and dehydration. I was diagnosed with gastroenteritis and acute pancreatitis. This is the only major GI problem I have ever had. I am very slender, 105 pounds, so I was wondering if maybe it was normal to feel a lump during digestion just because I am skinny and it's easy to feel my anatomy, or if I should be more concerned. Thanks!
Avatar f tn If the pain is severe, of you have dizziness or blood in stools or the diarrhoea does not seem to get better in 4-5 days, it is advised to see a primary care physician for an accurate diagnosis and appropriate management. Hope this helps. Take care!
Avatar f tn The bowel problems of diarrhea and nausea after eating may be due to GERD(gastro esophageal reflux disease), acute non-GI infections (pyelonephritis, pneumonia),gastroenteritis, liver diseases, pancreatic disorder, peptic disease of upper GI tract, gastric carcinoma,CNS diseases like infections, tumors, multiple sclerosis and metabolic disturbances like diabetes and adrenal insufficiency. I sincerely advise you to consult a physician/gastroenterologist and discuss these with him.

Avatar n tn My daughter is 14 months old and she has has watery diarrhea and vomitting. When she was born she was perfectly healthy, but once I had to return to work I began to give her formula and that's when she began to have these complications. She began to have watery diarrhea and vomit. I took her to the doctor and they said she had gastroenteritis, but it's been a while now and she is still the same? Does anyone know what could possibly be wrong? Thank you.

Avatar f tn It could also be food intolerance, both food allergy and food intolerance can cause symptoms of nausea, vomiting or abdominal pain. The difference being in food allergy the IgE antibodies are increased. If symptoms are acute it can even be due to an infection, gastroenteritis. So, if your symptoms persist consult your doctor for an evaluation. Hope this helped and do keep us posted.
Avatar n tn Welcome back to the forum. Based on the title of your question plus the opening line: by ARV you probably mean the acute retrovial syndrome (usually abbreviated ARSO, which cannot start within 5 days of catching HIV. 8-10 days is the minimum. So on that basis, I doubt a new HIV infection is the cause of whatever symptoms you have. Now I have read the rest. Your own assessment about the sexual exposure is correct ("I feel that this was not a high risk encounter").
Avatar n tn Hello! I seem to have unfortunately caught gastroenteritis. I was given Ondansentron and it helped immensely. However, I can't sleep. I'm so wired and my stomach still hurts but luckily, no side effects. Is this normal? Is it the gastroenteritis or the drug?
Avatar m tn I went to the emergency room, they made an ecography on my belly and a complete blood count. The doctor said the CBC was totally fine, but the ecography revealed gastroenteritis. She gave me paracetamol, ciprofloxacin and bismuth pectin. The fever promptly went away and did not came back, I still have diarrhea but much milder (I'm writing this a day later). I was wondering if this could be acute retroviral syndrome.
Avatar f tn I had unprotected sex that following night i begin to feel sick and that morning i woke up i was burping and farting in having dhiarea then in 3 days i went to the emergency room in they said i had gastroenteritis so then the followin week i began to feel even more tired and fatigued i then begin to cough i also had a bump apear on the shaft of my penis i then went in got tested this momday in the said i had the flu does that mean i have acute hiv?
Avatar f tn This could be due to gastrointestinal issues like acute gastroenteritis or infection. Have this checked by you doctor for further evaluation. Your medical history and direct clinical examination are important to determine the underlying cause. Take care and do keep us posted.
Avatar n tn My 2 year old has blood in his stool, dark not bright red, and when I took him to the ER, they said acute gastroenteritis. Basically, acid reflux or stomach ulcers. They didnt do any radiology tests on him, just blood work and a stool sample. We have to wait at least 48 hours to get the stool sample results to find out if it could be a bacterial infection.
1361044 tn?1277598308 Honestly, in my opinion, babies are so wrapped up in this new world, all the new things going in for them, that a little cold (virus) hardly slows them down. it could be your baby is behind because she doesn't feel well all the time, and THAT is holding her back. Maybe not, but in either case I would push for them to figure it out. Chalking it all down to a virus is a lazy, sorry excuse. My point is, YOU DO know your child more than anyone.
Avatar f tn I feel Gerd and milk allergy are grossly overdiagnosed in infants. Lactose overload has been diagnosed in breast-fed infants now - and I believe it is also found in babies.
Avatar m tn A) The risk for chronic infection varies according to the age at infection and is greatest among young children. Approximately 90% of infants and 25%–50% of children aged 1–5 years will remain chronically infected with HBV. By contrast, approximately 95% of adults recover completely from HBV infection and do not become chronically infected. http://www.cdc.gov/hepatitis/HBV/HBVfaq.
