It also began to regulate my blood sugars, if fact one day my level was so low that the doc reduced one of my meds from 2 pills twice a day to 1 pill twice a day. I must admit though that when I initially started I had to force myself to eat, whereas I was overeating before. I have not experienced the nausea which many say comes with this med. I suppose that could be because I take so very many other meds for my many ailments that the system just takes in whatever I give it.

I've been on Actos for 9 years and have no problems. Avandia is effectively off the market but ACTOS was not removed. The diabetic educator should know better that suggest someone get off a drug. Suggesting that he/she contact their M.D. was a good idea, but not necessarily required, unless the 'one man in the class' is having noticable adverse side-effects. Rumor monger statements and posts like this one are more scary than it actually should be.

So your taking insulin (Knowing what kind of insulin is just as important as knowing a how much) AND Actos? Usually when a person goes on Insulin they drop the actos.

My question is y are you taking byetta and actos+met... and I'm on topamx, but for seizures... I'm also on actos plusmet 15/500 just once a day, with a insulin pump ( i take apidra in my pump)... byetta and actos plus met are very similar drugs doing the same thing.. the actos+met will make you gain weight very quickly. How many shots of byetta are you taking a day a long with the actos plus met? and what dose of actos are you taking and why...

30am wake up. 2mg Glimepride at 5:00pm before dinner. Take glucose readings just before meds in am and pm. Currently avg 167 in the am and 114 in the pm. Active during the day but little activity during the evening and night. Anyone have information about switching the 30mg Actos + 4mg Glimepride to before dinner and the 2mg Glimepride at wake up in hopes of lowering the morning readings? Thank you.

Hi all, My hubby was dx'ed 2 weeks ago w/ diabetes II. His regular doc put him on 30 mg Actos daily. At 1st hubby's blood sugar was a whopping 390- now it's down to 76-90 in the am and no more than 180 even after lots of sugary food. Obviously the blood sugar is well under control now. The problem is, my husband's vision is going crazy! I know that diabetes can cause vision problems when blood sugar is high, but the way it's happening doesn't make sense.

I take 86 units of Lantus twice a day; 50 units of novolog at each meal; 1000mg metformin twice a day and 30mg actos once a day. My sugars run 280-500. The new dietician I just saw put me on 90 grams of carb at EACH meal (I think this is really high!). All the doctors say is "take more insulin". I could eat 24/7. I am 54 years old, female, 5'10", 275 pounds. I was over 200 pounds at age nine. My arms and legs are very thin. The majority of my weight is around my waistline.

They are GLP-1 drugs. There is a new one called Bydureon that is a once a week shot. I am going to ask my doctor about it on my next visit.

I took Actos and within a week started having stomach and left side pains. I stopped actos and 75% of the symptoms are gone but I did see my doctor who ordered a CT scan which was normal. My labs have all been normal except I did show 21% atypical lymphs. Mono test was negative and so was H pylori blood test. I suspect the Actos started my problems. I felt bloated and full, pain in one specific area on left side, stomach stopped growling, etc.

Hi...I have never heard of that med, but in research see it is used for reflux and gerd jut like the meds I am aware of. The dr will RX meds for the mgs and dosage ( times per day) per ur symptoms and how much healing u need.....I am on a gerd med and take it twice a day..... If u also modify ur diet and lifestyle u may heal a bit faster and be able to cut back on teh dosage faster.

I have diabetes ll. My doctor has given me Actos 30 mg. I have been hearing a lot about this drug and none of it's good, saying long term use causes bladder cancer. My last A1c was 6.1 although now due for another one. I'm not sure the risk involved with this drug is worth the benefits as my sugar is not out of control and my numbers are always under 175. Is Actos a safe drug to use??

Diabitis in the day is normal and only morning reading is shooting up to 170 . what is the soluction.

I take my bolld sugars of a morning fasting and they are like 167-191, I take 1000 mg of janumet and 18 units of lantus before bed, of a morning I take 20 Units of lantus, 45 mg actos why am I having problems regulating my blood sugars, I also take 7 units of novalog after every meal??? Been diabetic for 4 years, I am on 3 different meds, Metformin at 1000 mg twice a day, Actos 45 mg, Glipzide 20 mg twice a day. Last month was started on immediate slow release Insulin. My level stays now between 140 and 180. My A1C test have always been above 7.2, I just was letting you know some of the other drugs available for use. None of this drugs cause me any side effects. Talk to your doctor about these other drugs that you can take.

Does the regular Seroquel have to be taken twice a day? I take my morning dose and cannot stay awake; it's getting frustrating. If have I have to take it twice a day, does the drowsiness in the morning wear off after awhile?

Recently, after a very long day (about 20 hrs.), I began to notice that my vision was similar to that when I am cross-eyed. After resting sufficiently, I am still having the same problem 2 days later. The best that I can see in the mirror is that 1 eye is not always moving as quickly as the other, but a lazy eye doesn't seem to be realistically caused by fatigue. Otherwise, my eyes do not visually appear to be crossed; but my vision comes off as such.

Thanks, I have gone to almost 180 units a day and still really have not got great control, although my a1c dropped down to 7.
