Common Questions and Answers about Actoplus met and pcos

glucophage

Avatar m tn Then I realized I can control it with oral drugs, so I changed insuline to actoplus and metformin 15/850 twice a day. Now, my A1C has been keeping at range 5.8-6.2 for the past 2 years. I read some paper about MODY a few days ago. Now I am worrying about if I have MODY. I am 29 now. I am the only one with diabetes in my family history. I am overweighted and my BMI is 2.75. Both actoplus and metformin work very well for me. Will you please give me any advice if I should go to do MODY tests?
Avatar m tn I take 3 diabetes pills Actoplus, Glimiperide and Onglyza, what is healthier taking pills or injecting insulin?
644577 tn?1224350916 SO ive always struggled with my weight since i was youung around 10 or so, because of my pcos! But now they have put me on metoformin, and its been 2 1/2 weeks and my weight still goes up and down and i exericse every other day and watch what i eat! when will i start seeing results from the met!
Avatar n tn I restarted the Met lost weight quicker and even started to have regular periods (about every 28-30 days). Oppose to before where I would have periods every 2-3 months that would last for weeks. Now I am so glad that they are regular. Met can have some side effects. The biggest is GI disturbances...diarhea definitely. Thats why people lose weight. Dry skin I'm not sure about, that seems more like a PCOS symptom. Kidney and back pain could come from hormonal imbalances.
Avatar f tn t know ( because i had no symptoms) until after two years when i met my current patner. i got it treated as soon as the dr confimed it. my questions are Is it all std results in PID that cause damage to fallopian tubes? Does stds cause a condition called pcos? what are the chances of me having blocked tubes ? Is it possible for my immune system to fight stds ?
325477 tn?1250551309 I have 2 full babies with metformin 2 full term pre pcos diagnosis and 1 m/c post diagnosis without met.
Avatar f tn I am just having a hard time while being on the Met bad stomache pains and I am in the bathroom almost all day after I take my pills. I am on 1000mg a day it seems to be working but killing my stomache at the same time.
801413 tn?1333539276 It is PCOS that causes skin tags! I am sorry to hear that you are having this problem but it is just one of those beautiful side effects of PCOS. I just read a little bit and you could freeze them off or cut off the blood supply with a string (like sewing string). You can freeze them off just like warts. I hope this helps!
Avatar n tn I was just alittle confused because most of the other woman I met who have pcos are over weight and some are having problems conceiving. I am a mother of 4.
Avatar f tn I'am 26 years old. ttc for 3 years. I have endo and pcos. With pcos I have every symptoms but the cyst. Husband has low sperm count. Have done several cycles clomid iui without success. Attempted 2 ivf cycles but they were cancelled due to low response. I only had 5 follicles both times and they were converted to iui. I started on metformin 500mg daily and will increase the dose to 1500 mg over four weeks. The dr. is hoping this will increase the egg numbers and quality.
Avatar f tn I'm on Met 1500mg, cd 26, "dpo 6", and charting. I'm new to this but not new to this. I've had pcos now about 9 yrs being dx at 23 yrs old. I've had 3 mc and have two beautiful children. I would love to Ttc baby 3. I started met in Oct. Lmp was 11/3/11. I experienced ewcm on Nov 18-19 but very little. Then I also experienced what would.be hopefully ovulation pains. Now I'm on "dpo 6"..

Avatar f tn Yes they usually keep you on met through first trimester and have them check your progesterone levels. I've had pcos for over 20 years and on my fourth pregnancy no miscarriages.
Avatar n tn I have been taking Lipitor (20mg) and my wife has been taking Simvastatin. Prior to being put on medication, my cholesterol had been running about 205 for a long time and my wife's had been around 160. What is the difference betwen the two? My medication is considerably higher than mine? Can you explain why? My blood sugar was running abot 137 so my Doctor also put me on Actoplus as well. My Lipitor is about $100 and my wife's Simvastatin is about $6 (same quantity of tables-30).
Avatar n tn did they have you tried metformin yet? the first thing my doc. gaved me was met. to help me lose weight and to hopefully help me ovulate..but since it dint work i just did clomid this month..and im waiting till May 11 to get my BFP..they usually like to combine met. with clomid..so i would defenetly talk to you doctor...and good job on the weight lost..keep it up!
Avatar f tn You could ask your gyn to order a semen analysis on your husband to rule out any problems there. Maybe method in for your PCOS and clomid to help things along.

Avatar f tn You can become pregnant with pcos. There are meds your doctor can put you on to help like met formin. It may take a little longer but it's definetly possible! Geritol isnt going to help with pcos.
255732 tn?1318517822 Okay...well I changed drs and went for my 1st visit today.I have PCOS, and am on met. When she did the pap, she said that it caused some bright red blood. but that it was normal after a pap,but I have never had that before. After I got home I went to the restroom, and it's like AF showing up. I am around 7 DPO, I am terriefied that I could be pregnant, and am M/C! Has anyone had this happen to them after a pap??? Any info would be great.
Avatar f tn I'm 20, with pcos. Pcos reduced my chances of getting pregnant drastically, unless getting medical help or perscriptions. But, in the hardest point of my life, she came into the picture.. and brought me and daddy back together, and were happier than we've ever been. But. With pcos, chances of miacarriage are 3 times more likely. When my doctor found her heart beat and told me I was starting my second trimester I was shocked, and over joyed. My boyfriend and I wanted a boy, or so he says.
415687 tn?1228746275 i am 5months pregnant (luckily its an almost symptom free pregnancy too!) with our first born and I have pcos and insulin resistance. i had irregular periods and annovulatory cycles. I was on metformin for 3months, preseed when ovulating which only happened when on metformin, seeing a chiropracter and reflexologist regularily (i think this was the bit that did it!).
