actonel problems

I take once monthly Actonel. While I was pushing the pill through the foil blister, it broke. I did not take that pill for fear that it could cause stomach problems. My question is would it have been safe to take? Also, if I contact Proctor & Gamble, do you think they might replace the pill. If it was a daily pill, I wouldn't worry about, but I just lost a whole month of medicine due to a faulty package design.

I am 3 years post breast cancer i had lumpectomy chemo rads i have taken tamoxofen for 2,5 years now on aromasil i had a bone density scan and was told i had low calcuim levels, now on calcuim sandox and actonel asked if i had osetoprosis and was told no have read around actonel and have not taken it yet as of the side effects please can you advice thanks.

Every doctor seems to think it is allergies. I have also recently been to an ear, nose, and throat specialist. Shows chronic sinus problems but no current infection and no need for surgery at the present time. I also do the sinus rinse and have veramyst spray. Ear, nose, and throat specialist said to keep doing what I am doing and contact him in 2 months. I also have GERD and am currently taking Nexium since last May 2007.

When do you know you need hormones after a total hysterectomy? Is there any problems if you do not take hormones after a total hysterectomy (46 years old)?

i currnetly am taking actonel for my bones the past 3 years and klonopin i per night and take alot of vitamins such as B compex etc. no alcohol consumption but i do smoke half a pack of cigarettes per day no other medical conditions known 6 months ago all my blood workups were normal . How safe is it and will I have more problems with my bones aching - I can't sleep at night a lot from the pain. t believe that at my age , this is a huge problem for me. I am taking Paxil and for the last 10 years I was taking Actonel, until my doctor suggested I stop because of medical reports showing after long use, it stops working. I know the 2 problems are not linked, but still remain a concern. Is there a medication to stop me from my late night binges. This is when I eat the most. It seems there would be an appetite supressant that would be helpful.

I am constantly waking up all night because I cannot wear my CPAP mask due to these problems. And I can no longer pet my cats which feels like my hands have been in fiberglass. My bones are so sensitive that it hurts to even sit on a soft chair. It has been a terrible experience which I regret.

You might want to ask your pharmacist for more specific directions as far as the timing of your meds. I take Actonel once a month and my pharmacist said it was fine to take it at the same time as my levothyroxine since Actonel is also supposed to be taking first thing in the morning. Don't mix meds unless you get an all clear from a pharmacist.

Osteoporosis medications like Raloxifene (Evista), alendronate (Fosomax), risendronate (Actonel) and ibandronate (Boniva) all can cause flu like symptoms in individuals that are taking them. I am not sure what medications you are on, but this could be your problem.

I take 2 0.5mcg of calcitriol and about 2500 mg of calcium supplements a day. I also take Crestor for high cholesterol becasue I guess my parathroid disorder is causing my liver to overproduce now. lovely!

Suzanne, Happy Birthday! I too often wonder how I got old so fast.lol Time flies I guess. I will check out that website. The drs won't let me take things like actonel or that class of drugs as my osteoporosis affected the bones in my jaw and they are afraid to take the chance as with those drugs there is a risk. I was disappointmented about the forteo. I think that drug is more dangerous than its worth personally. Are you still working as an RN?

ll let you know the results when I get them. I am also taking Actonel 150mg monthly for the osteoporosis. As far as side effects, I have not experienced any in any form. Everything appears all right down below. If I recall, I was on 2 actuations per day for about 6 months and then had a t-level taken which dictated increasing the dose to 3 actuations. In another 6 months, the same story, so I was increased to 4 actuations.

it seemed to bother my esophagus (bumping, reflux) so my doctor suggested actonel. i took one pill a week ago and since have had increasing sensation of a lump in my throat, and like I'm full of phlegm that I can't ever swallow down. I can eat so of course I am swallowing. I'm off all drug right now but throat/phlegm sensations feel settled in, especailly bad at night, and are anxiety provoking.

Thank you for the response. I think I have had about every GI test done. Who checks hormonal endocrine imbalances. Metabolic issues, etc? I have had 4 thyroid nodule biopsies done now. I do have severe Osteoporosis and a new Internist I am going to has ordered a new bone density test. I have been having bad neck, low back and hip pain. I don't think my Endo doctor has been following up on that like she should but I won't take Actonel or Fosomax.
