I am 3 years post breast cancer i had lumpectomy chemo rads i have taken tamoxofen for 2,5 years now on aromasil i had a bone density scan and was told i had low calcuim levels, now on calcuim sandox and actonel asked if i had osetoprosis and was told no have read around actonel and have not taken it yet as of the side effects please can you advice thanks.
The prescription drug Fosamax (the generic is alendronate sodium) is a medication which has been prescribed to hundreds of thousands of postmenopausal women to treat osteoporosis and help increase bone mass thereby reducing the chance of spinal or non-spinal fractures. I take once monthly Actonel. While I was pushing the pill through the foil blister, it broke. I did not take that pill for fear that it could cause stomach problems. My question is would it have been safe to take? Also, if I contact Proctor & Gamble, do you think they might replace the pill. If it was a daily pill, I wouldn't worry about, but I just lost a whole month of medicine due to a faulty package design.

I am a 59 year old female.The reading on my bone density test is minus 4.1 for my spine and minus 2.6 for my legs and hip. However, my doctor isn't prescribing any medication for me but tells me to continue taking calcium supplement and Vitamin D and come back in a year to do another test. Since I am obviously having osteoporosis, shouldn't I be taking any prescription drug? I am worried sick over the reading and need some expert opinion to go back and talk to my doctor again.
i currnetly am taking actonel for my bones the past 3 years and klonopin i per night and take alot of vitamins such as B compex etc. no alcohol consumption but i do smoke half a pack of cigarettes per day no other medical conditions known 6 months ago all my blood workups were normal . ANY IDEAS WHAT CAN BE GOING ON WITH ME ?

Is anyone getting ringing in the ears from taking Generic Wellbutrin(Bupropion sr ) 150 mg. Here is my situation I have been on amitriptiline 25 mg 4 years then went up to 50 mg for 3 years. I started taking only one 150 mg of bupropion sr this is my 5 day. Can I stop taking the amitriptiline with no withdrawls after only 5 days of Bupropion? or has it not been long enough. I hoping that I can stop the amitriptiline by taking the bupropion sr in place of the amitriptiline.

s safe to take Effexor and alprazolam, which is generic for Xanax, yes, you can take the two together. The Effexor should help with your anxiety though so you may want to talk to your Dr about stopping the Xanax. Depending on how you've been on it you may need to taper.
I have a high deductibule ins policy I have found several web sights that offer generic Plavix or [clopidogrel] that is suginifantly cheeper than brand name Plavix Will the generic work as good as plavix? Or is it just a plasebo?
My rhuemy suggested reclast. I'm afraid to begin with a once a year med. What if I have a reaction to it and I'm stuck with it for a year? If I take IV once p/month and have a side effect, than I can go off of it and not be stuck with it for a year. Would like your opinion on it. My endocronologist suggested Boniva IV. Oh..also regarding Reclast..I think that's a relatively new drug and I'm always afraid to go on new drugs.
the generic in india is absolutely the same as brands, it is just cheap and easy chemicals.....so easy to do.
When a drug patent runs out, a (usually much) less-expensive generic drug comes onto the market, which is chemically and medically equivalent to the brand-name drug. If he's saying what I think he's saying, I'd like to know what the difference here could possibly be. How could the the equivalent be different?...and if its different, how could it be equivalent?

Yes Setraline is the generic form of the drug Zoloft. The CONCENTRATION and the CHEMICAL FORMULA of the drugs are the same for any dose that your doctor perscribes. Both forms work the same. The only difference is the Brand name Zoloft is produced by the company that originally held the patent for the drug. When the patent expires, others companies are allowed to produce the drug under thier own BRAND name, but the GENERIC name will always remain the same.

I will check out that website. The drs won't let me take things like actonel or that class of drugs as my osteoporosis affected the bones in my jaw and they are afraid to take the chance as with those drugs there is a risk. I was disappointmented about the forteo. I think that drug is more dangerous than its worth personally.

No it may not be in your head. When a drug have been out long enough the other companies can make a generic of the drug. It's like a copyright law for music which is 50 years but in the pharmaceutical business it is 20 years. When a drug have been on the market for 20 years the drug is available to any labs and they can make generic of the drug. While the chemical you get is the same there are sometimes subtle difference especially regarding the quality of the product.
