Avatar n tn m 40 years old and recently found out that I also have osteo penia in one of the vertabrae in my lower back and my doctor wants me to take Actonel...however, those bone density medications can really exacerbate the reflux problems.
Avatar m tn Non-hormonal biphosphonates (such as Fosamax and Actonel) increase bone strength and are available as once-a-week pills. These can also be taken. It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.
Avatar f tn Because of my GERD, my doctor prescribed an IV infusion of Reclast. Unfortunately, I suffered some of the side effects, fever, and severe bone pain to the point of not being able to take in a full breath. My doctor was so concerned he put me on a steroid dose pack to reduce the reaction. My body doesn't seem very tolerant of any drugs, couldn't take anything other than extra strength Tylenol for a foot surgery. I will have to figure out something else with an endocronologist?
Avatar f tn food, smelly wind, sore bowels, itchy nd burning bottom. Iv put lots.of weight on and have bone and joint pain 24-7. I feel original symptoms were due to emotional problems and depression not being treated, my doc is not interested in.helping cus of budget cuts, I'm.
Avatar n tn ve done 4 injections over the past 2 years. Just a little bit of bone pain for the first 2 wks after the injection then, it goes away. That said, unfortunately, for me, my DEXA did not improve and my osteoporosis in my spine (the T-score) did not get better. Now, my doctor is sending me to a 'bone' clinic that apparently specializes in bone disorders such as osteoporosis. I have thought about this long and hard since getting my DEXA result.
Avatar n tn I am a 59 year old female. The reading on my bone density test is minus 4.1 for my spine and minus 2.6 for my legs and hip. However, my doctor isn't prescribing any medication for me but tells me to continue taking calcium supplement and Vitamin D and come back in a year to do another test. Since I am obviously having osteoporosis, shouldn't I be taking any prescription drug? I am worried sick over the reading and need some expert opinion to go back and talk to my doctor again.
Avatar f tn Hi again, yes they did go away - and almost immediately! It was a situation where my bone scan was debatable I think - one doc said bone loss, my new GP said Im simply smaller framed than the templates they use to measure..now I only take calcium D and workout a little harder...and my ENT tended to agree with that route, at least until my next scan. Also, ENT recommended that I sleep a bit upright on the pillow with head tilted - guess that helps too with reflux overnight.
Avatar n tn I take once monthly Actonel. While I was pushing the pill through the foil blister, it broke. I did not take that pill for fear that it could cause stomach problems. My question is would it have been safe to take? Also, if I contact Proctor & Gamble, do you think they might replace the pill. If it was a daily pill, I wouldn't worry about, but I just lost a whole month of medicine due to a faulty package design.
Avatar f tn A gnawing pain in your bones and muscles. This led to pain in my mid upper arm once in awhile. This spread then to my shoulder, collar bone and shoulder blade. And then to my elbow and wrist on occasion. With sometimes numbness in my pinky finger and the one next to it but that only happened twice. Now is constant and still excruciating if I move just right.
Avatar f tn My mom took Fosamax and then, Actonel..., altogether 20 yrs on bone drugs and then, still ended up getting osteoporosis, after all those years of treating the osteopenia. Anyhow, I realize, this site is supposed to be concentrating on the Hep. It's just that liver disease and the Hep treatment is a contributing factor in early bone thinning. I never knew this until it happened to me and they gave me the paper that had 'liver disease' on there as one of the contributing factors..
Avatar n tn swings of hashis the elevated thyroid hormones could very well have accelerated the bone loss. Some bone loss is natural as we age. We all cannot maintain the bone density of a medium framed 25 yr old (what they base the test scores on) I just received the results of a recent Dexascan. My hip density actually improved but my lumbar L1-L4 had some minimal loss - go figure! I was happy to see some improvement but also bummed about the lumbar. Drat!
Avatar n tn i currnetly am taking actonel for my bones the past 3 years and klonopin i per night and take alot of vitamins such as B compex etc. no alcohol consumption but i do smoke half a pack of cigarettes per day no other medical conditions known 6 months ago all my blood workups were normal . ANY IDEAS WHAT CAN BE GOING ON WITH ME ?
Avatar n tn He wants me to see a rheumatologist but an available appointment will be months away. I am 75 and have been on Vytorin for at least 5 years as well as Actonel. My bone scan last year was good for someone my age. What should I do while waiting to see an arthritis doctor? How serious could this be?
974371 tn?1424653129 I have had 4 thyroid nodule biopsies done now. I do have severe Osteoporosis and a new Internist I am going to has ordered a new bone density test. I have been having bad neck, low back and hip pain. I don't think my Endo doctor has been following up on that like she should but I won't take Actonel or Fosomax. I continue to have night sweats, chronic dry mouth and throat. Not sure what to do. Not happy with the doctors here.
Avatar n tn Right hip replacement. I'm on requip, lyrica, cymbalta, celebrex, just starting actonel plus vitamins & calcium. thank you. I'm 76, female. I have osteoporosis of the right hip and osteopenia of the left hip. I have peripheral neuropathy (familial), and two bad knees.
Avatar n tn I am just tired of taking medicenes that seem to cause other problems. I think I have the GERD from taking Actonel even though I followed the instructions to the letter for taking the Actonel. No longer take it. Just take calcium.
1139187 tn?1355706647 AJ99, has your bone density gotten any better? What were your side effects from the pump? I tried it about 6 months ago, made it about 30 days on the stuff. It made me very irritable, cranky, and my boys ached from high holy hell every day. how long did you do your 2 to 3, then 3-4?
Avatar n tn I am 75 years old, have had many surguries, including two recent knee replacements. I have great pain, esp at nite down my leg into my foot with numbness, this starts at the hip esp on the left side. What are my options?
720656 tn?1311040235 It also seemed to reduce some joint pain and swelling in my knees which I read could be a sx of a hypothyroid. Hope you're feeling better now that your 3 months post.
719868 tn?1230422075 Actonel, plus Vitamin D3-ANALOG from Denmark for bone re-mineralization (which is not available in the USA yet, but has been used all over Europe with lab proven success), and Crestor for high cholesterol. I had to come to Panama to be diagnosed with Hashi/hypo because my USA family doctor would not run any test except TSH, even though I repeatedly asked him to do the thyroid panel. He said the TSH was normal so no need to test any more.
Avatar f tn If you are taking pain reliever and have taken antibiotics and you are having a reoccuring fever of 99.9 F or more, then this could indeed be a problem. The only way to know if it is viral or you need an antibiotic is for the doctor to run some blood tests to see if your body is fighting off any illnesses. But also if you are on osteoporosis medications currently, the medication you are taking could be causing your symptoms.
Avatar f tn treated with shot weekly and pill 17 weeks, befor ehaving to stop due to severe heart palpitations..that almost 2 years ago and the pain is gettign worse...not bone pain, not joint pain, but inner bones just kill me...in research and other issues, I feel I have fybromyalgia and inner bone pain, plus the active Hep C????????????????? Seeing docs in a few weeks and need ot find a pain med to help on the real bad days...
Avatar f tn Could bone pain be related to Fibro or CFS? I have constant bone pain in my legs, but my doctor says I'm fine. He said it might just be my CFS (I don't have a Fibro dx), but he seemed to brush it off.
Avatar f tn Since the big leg bones produce most of the hemoglobin, I suspect the pain was due to the production of Hgb. My bone pain was modest and resolved itself in a few days. Bone pain can be a severe side effect and should be reported to your doctor. Good luck!
712802 tn?1274645485 leg, collar bone, arm, sternum, etc. I have had scans - no cancer - but the bone pain feels like a rod inside my bones in various places. It is worse on some days, but I haven't been able to find a connection to anything. I'm wondering if anyone else has pain like this and if there is an explanation?
