Actiq to morphine conversion

Common Questions and Answers about Actiq to morphine conversion

actiq

19164880 tn?1473283520 It has however given my Gp and Pain Dr Lots to think about. My drug councillor made me hand all my left over Actiq back to the pharmacy to stop temptation. She was 100% correct in that decision. Fentanyl should only be used in end of life situations. My addiction /dependency was only from prescribed drugs for cancer but unfortunately that does not stop us becoming addicted/dependent. From what I have read, and I am not a Dr, you will become addicted to suboxone after 10 days.
Avatar f tn Yes the actiq ruins your teeth due to the sugar. Its been quick I cold turkeyed from 4 abstral/actiq / day 19 days ago and that's me off 50mcg patch. Fingers crossed I stay off . If its too much I can slap a 12 patch back on for a few more days, but do not want to. I'm just too impatient to get this over and done with. Hope its not like the abstral/ actiq I could not eat for 5-7 days and lost over 7 pounds and had difficulty keeping hydrated.
Avatar f tn Yes I want to stop the abstral which is the same as actiq lollys first, then try to reduce the fentanyl patch. I lie in bed most of the day due to pain and effect of pain meds making me lethargic. I have survive my cancer and want a life again. I have halved my abstral (actiq) having sweaty hot /cold episodes and 2 episode of very severe pain after eating. I get pain meds due to radiation damage which caused obstructions and adhesions and needed more surgery.
Avatar f tn Tramadol (Ultram, Ultracet) I copied this from her journal..it looks pretty close to the other conversion charts I have seen..but again..
Avatar m tn s had to transfer from methadone to a morphine pill before . Has this ever happened to anybody and what amount of timed released morphine would it take to transfer from 170mg methadone over to the other?
Avatar n tn I would mention to your doctor that both Actiq and Fentora have been prescribed off label to treat chronic intractable pain and ask if that would that be an option for you to see what he says. I think I have finally found the right combo of meds that works for me after a decade of trying. The key was finding a compassionate physician. I only came across my new doctor through being forced by an insurance switch in which my previous PCP was not covered under. I should have switched sooner!
401095 tn?1351391770 again it is hard to exactly convert any drug to compare another exactly...and sub with a ceiling effect is a bit difficult to compare than others..route od use such as oral, snorting. shooting..chewing all come into play as well Conversion table other drugs equivalent to sub Jul 24, 2008 05:32PM - 5 comments #Pain Killer Equivalent Doses (Oral) 1.2mg.............Buprenorphine (Bupe) 200mg............Codeine (Tylenol 2, 3, 4, etc) 30-60mg.........

655467 tn?1304959950 I AM ON ACTIQ RIGHT NOW. WENT TO MY PAIN DOCTOR IN OCTOBER WHO SWITCHED TO FROM THE MILITARY. HE THEN INFORMED ME THAT HE WOULD HAVE TAKE A SPECIAL CLASS TO BE ALLOWED TO PRESCRIBE ACTIQ LOLLIPOPS. IS THIS TRUE? DOES ANYONE KNOW? I LIVE IN KENTUCKY. I WAS ON 3200 MG (800 MG X 4). NOW HE WANTS TO DROP IT TO 1 PER MONTH TO NONE IN JANUARY. THE PAIN IS SO SEVERE AND I AM STILL ON 3. WHAT CAN I DO? WHAT OTHER MEDICINES ARE THERE?
Avatar f tn I do trust my doctor and he is a very reputable physician that has been featured on the local news in our state but despite this, he did not apply a cross tolerance at all when he switched me from morphine ER to opana ER (you may remember responding to my post on this subject awhile back). In fact, it was even more medicine than I was already taking in both morphine ER and breakthrough pain medicine in the two 30 mg opana ER pills I take per day.
Avatar f tn Actiq (Fenanyl) is a nasty opiate with pretty bad withdrawals. The problem with all of this is the fact that you're taking Oxycodone to detox off the Fentanyl...which doesn't truly let you go through traditional withdrawals. Nobody can tell you for sure whether you're through the worst because we have no idea where you are in the process. Is there any way you can go to a inpatient/outpatient detox/rehab? It's your best bet for a controlled detox and recovery.
Avatar f tn Before I left the office she was kind enough to relieve my discomfort witha 10mg shot of morphine to cover the transition time. By the time I got the Rx filled an the patch on me ( that was about 4 hours ago ) most of the nice releive i got from the morphine was gone. I am now getting the creepy crawlers much like withdrawl and am very very cranky. My question is: Is 12mcg/hr of this stuff very much. The info I can get tells me its about 1/10 of a 500 vicodin an hour.
Avatar f tn High dose before hip surgery due to chronic pain from loose stem and need for revision. Dr. wanted me to drop 30 mg morphine every 2 weeks which was too fast so I thought going to subutex would help get me off high dose. 2 weeks ago I detoxed and have not stabilized. Started at 6 mg. now at 4 mg. Also wonder if traded bad for worse habit. I don't feel good on this med. Go between WD symptoms to fogginess and dizziness.
890735 tn?1261421725 Hi, I am not sure of the exact conversion rate but Fentanyl is 40 times stronger than morphine so taking that into consideration it sounds correct. Also doctors normally start Pt's out on the 25mc of Fentanyl and then titrated up as needed. Rarely is a Pt started out on higher doses. This way your put on the lowest amount that will treat your pain. Tolerance issues being considered the lowest dose is the best. I hope this answers your question.
Avatar m tn Didn't know where else to put this, but I was recently switched from Morphine 60mg ER to the Fentanyl Duragesic patch. I thought the weird flu like symptoms might be a result of the new drug, but apparently it has to be withdrawal from the Morphine. I'm kind of miffed neither the doctor nor pharmacist even mentioned this could happen. I was naive and thought the new medication wouldn't create an issue with the switch, I was wrong.
Avatar f tn I was a nurse for years. I have been on opana and actiq for a few years now. I have passed every test for 3 years on my bi-monthly urine screen. All of a sudden I am showing positive for oxycontin and I have NEVER taken this med. Now I know that actiq, opana, stadol, and oxycontin are synthentic oipioids. Now I have taken a blood test for oxycontin only to make sure this is negative and a true false positive because I do not take this pain med.
4942023 tn?1361469841 re going from 300 mg of morphine to 40 mg of Opans ... that seems like a big difference. have you looked @ any conversion charts? You could also check with your pharmacist about the conversion. I was tried on hP Opans several months ago but it wasn't effective for me. My pain management physician prefers it to other medications, not sure why. He mentioned it @ yesterday's appointment & I remindef him it wasn't the best fit for me.
Avatar f tn If you are still monitoring this site and have not found that registered PMP to RX Actiq please reply on this thread. Activity of this thread may help and we have a member that may have better suggestions that I. I'm so sorry to hear about your situation. My best to you.
Avatar m tn I was also on Methadone, which worked great, but when we moved to Seattle, I could not find a doctor willing to prescribe Methadone and had to switch back to Morphine. I have been on the Morhine for 2 years now, fentynoal 1 year prior to that, Methadone 1 year prior to that. The only options I have are pain medication or the freezing and destruction of my abdominal nerve centers.
Avatar n tn It looks like we posted at the same time! LOL But I'm pretty sure, even though I had trouble understanding the post as well, that they were moved to MSContin 30mg at 3 times a day (every 8 hours) so that is another long acting medication. And I agree...conversions can be very tricky and just wanted to add that I only posted what I did based loosely on a chart that some Drs. use. (To the OP)....
Avatar f tn even small doses are powerful but it is misleading because there is no euphoria with methadone as for morphine your conversion seam off.....when deciding to jump ship that is why I always suggest single digits it will make the withdrawal a whole lot more doable good luck and God bless........
Avatar m tn I used to be on the patch and they had me up to 100mcg patch every 24hours and I had the Actiq 800mcg pops for bt pain. So you are not on that high of a dose really. W/d's are horrible and I have still gone through them tapering down. I tend to go too fast. It all depends on what's more important to you. Me, I would rather have my pain under control and handle some of the side effects. Especially if I had to work and you still have to function for your family.
Avatar n tn 1. how to sleep and when to expect his sleep patterns to go back to normal 2. help on staying clean 3. programs/ books that could help I have never used drugs and not sure on how to help or what to help him to expect. Reading the blog has helped. So thank you! Please let me know. Thanks again and good luck to all of you. This seems like a horrible thing to get addicted too.
Avatar f tn Hi have done a taper programme for Actiq now down to 4 a day but bad cravings and withdrawal daily so I am going to stop them now. Has anyone been through this already and got any ideas for me to follow to make it easier. Its the craving that are the worst. Once I've done this the patch is next any ideas there too please?
