Common Questions and Answers about Acne treatment injection

acne

Avatar m tn A cure-all, a miracle, the answer to all of my adolescent health issues! Approaching my third injection I noticed that my acne would begin to return slightly when I was close to a shot - disappearing immediately after. I recently had to switch OBGYN physicians, after a year of treatment with Depo-Provera. This switch caused me to be approximately six weeks late for my quarterly shot. Never did anyone discuss with me the many symptoms that occur with such a hormone shift....
Avatar n tn I have severe cysitc acne that covers my upper back. I went to a dermatologist for this condition beginning at age 12. During the course of treatment I was perscribed Minocycline, Doxycycline, tetracycline, and sulfa based medications, all resulting in allergic reactions. I was finally placed on Accutane with positive results while taking the drug, however six months after completing treatment, the acne returned again.

Avatar n tn After three years on it, I began to suffer from bad chin/jawline and back acne, and was menstruating for two weeks at a time. I have now stopped the injection and started on the Qlaira contraceptive/birth control pill, which I know is not especially for improving acne as some are (Yaz, Diane 35), but I want to know how likely this change is to help, as i really am at the end of my tether. I'm about a week into my second pack and so far, nothing has changed - for better or worse.
Avatar m tn Hello, Fusidic acid and minocycline are both antibiotics which are used for the treatment of acne. Treatment options include topical and oral antibiotics, topical retinoids, hormonal therapy, dermabrasion , phototherapy and laser resurfacing. Normally a combination of treatments is followed and if nothing proves effective then dermabrasion and laser therapy are useful. You can discuss these treatment options with your dermatologist.
Avatar f tn So I went through puberty when I was 14 I grew 5 inches in one year and had typical acne it went away once I was done growing and I've had nice skin since then. So once I graduated I was 5'7'' its been 6 months and I recently got a face chest and back covered in acne and I've grown another half inch. Is this even possible for me to be going through this again?? and now the acne is twice as hard to get rid of. I do what I did before but my T zones are out of control.
Avatar f tn Thank you! Same happened to me. I mean I had some acne before but it wasn't that bad, like most people have. But after having B12 injections my face became unrecognizable in short period of time. I have been using both supplements and after that injections, now I am scared to take even oral supplements. I am not a vegetarian but I don't eat much meat, I also avoid cheese, eggs, milk and yogurt all because my dermatologist told me that these products can cause acne (except meat).
Avatar n tn The inflammation goes down significantly for about a week or so, but returns to pre-injection size thereafter. Is the cortisone only a temp solution until something more permanent can take over? I'm also taking antibiotics. So far no results after a week. What will bring this sucker down permanently, aside from removing it surgically?
Avatar f tn I am confused about this. At first, my injection site was red and circular (no big deal since this shot made me pass out, which has never happened to me before.) A few weeks later, the site turned an off-white color (like the color of ashy skin), but still circular. It remained like that until this past July. Now, the injection site has grown, my skin has "sunken in" and the color is still "ashy.
Avatar n tn Hi Sir, I used to get pimples around my face, back and chest however I had undergone a treatment and the problem subsided eventually however the moment I left the treatment I again started getting pimples or some kind of infection. I am again undergoing a treatment and the doctor says that this is a normal concern....I got some reports done and everything is fine.. Please let me know how long will this continue? will I be ever able to get rid of this medication?
1576889 tn?1299727476 I will take my first ribavirin 600mg on this Friday morning with my second dose and my injection of Peginterferon in the evening. I HAVE to work that day. Will I have side effects from the morning dose?
Avatar n tn I found two articles in the medical literature about electrothermolysis, just uncontrolled pilot studies, but neither referred to acne treatment--one was about treating facial seborrhea, the other was about hair removal. So basically, I don't know. There are other acne treatments you might want to consider, such as laser treatments to minimize oil glands, They are safe and have shown modest effectiveness, though it's not always long lasting.
Avatar m tn I went to the dermatologist and wasn't able to see a doctor, instead I was seeing by an intern who didn't seem to know what she was doing but anyway, she prescribed me what my primary care physician had already put me on for 10days; SMZ/TMP DS 800-160 Tab Interpharm to treat my infected acne. She told me she's going to keep me on it for 8 months. Now, if this is an antibiotic, is it normal to be prescribed for that long? and for acne grade III?
Avatar m tn I had a lot of side effects from the steroids. I had anxiety, acne, weight gain and night sweats and a general crazy feeling. The injections also only lasted me a month. I would not get them again because of the side effects. Also four times a year is way too much. The steroids can cause weakening of the tendons and joints if done too many times in the same spot as well as bone loss.
Avatar n tn 1) What is the current and most effective treatment for Acne Inversa? (Most of my reading online was from relatively dated material) I have been taking Accutane for approximately one month and have so far not seen any favorable results. I have also read that Accutane does little for Acne Inversa. Is there truth to this? 2) I have read that Carbon Dioxide Laser Ablation may be just as effective as skin grafts, however, it was an emerging treatment.
Avatar m tn I am having Acne vulgaris on my face for the past seven years. Now I am 20 and I am Male. I used to take some ointments(clindamycin, benzoyl peroxide) but that had only temporary effects. Of late, I have started taking medications on the advice of a doctor who says that I have reached the Gr.IV satge of acne. It is given as follows: Isotretinoin 20 mg twice daily, body weight being 50 kg.
Avatar n tn sounds like an adult version of acne known as acne rosacea- google it or check google images - it is completely different to the teenage form of acne vulgaris
Avatar m tn I've been to about two different dermatologist because of my acne, for some reason they become VERY swollen and red. I had to change my doctor, because the first treatment I had a bad reaction to the pills he prescribed. My second dermatologist just prescribed me clindoxyl gel. I've been using it for about more than a year now. I should have stopped by after 3 months into the treatment, however I couldn't, and now I feel silly going into his office after all this time lost.
Avatar f tn I have missed my periods since 6 months.I've had a bloodtest, everything is fine. I am 22 years old and weighing about 70 kg(which is not correct for my height). I had this problem before too when my doctor gave me an injection and prescribed 'Eve Care'. Due to the injection my periods started 7 days later but since 6 months again the same problem(I do not suffer from any other medical problem). What should I do?
Avatar n tn A dermatologist I went to injected one of the larger bumps with kenalog and it has gotten smaller but there is still a hard bump under my skin that will not go away and has inflamed again twice since the injection. My acne consists of stubborn non-inflamed acne as well, but I was under the impression that non-inflamed acne remains colorless (well white or black comedones) until it becomes inflamed.
Avatar f tn As you can see, my point is this - just like MS is different for everyone, so is finding the right treatment. I have a friend who was on copaxone for 15 years and had a severe reaction to it...suddenly. She hasn't been on anything for about a year and says she feels better than she has in decades...???
