Is it normal to have breakouts every day? I'm 31 weeks today and I have had acne all over my chest, shoulders arms and lower jaw. Also is there a safe way to treat while pregnant? I'm so aggravated with the itchy skin and scarring left from the old bumps. It's not cute at all.
I just got back from the Derm today and he reviewed my skin and he said that my acne redness is scarring.. Now i thought scarring is indentions in the skin? Is it not and that acne redness will fade with time because according to my derm he said that my acne redness is scarring and that the redness wont go away and that theres nothing that can be done about it. He said that i'll have to live with it for the rest of my life and that the only possible treatment for this is laser.
It worked a treat but 9months after I had finished treatment the acne returned. Over the years I have been on 3 treatments of Roacutane for about 18months each with the same result about 9 months later. At the age of 23 I went to a new dermatologist who suggested trialing a 4th treatment of Roacutane, I refused not knowing the permanent damage it might have on my body especially considered I'd like to have children one day and Roacutane causes birth deformities.
t know how this effects people with abnormal scarring. These studies seem to be based on people with no unusual scarring, just the general population of accutane recipients. I've posted my question in the "ask a doctor" forum hoping for a more detailed response regarding the use of accutane in those with abnormal scarring who do not have what would be considered "severe" acne.

I've had the same spontaneous scarring since I was 23; I am now 30. Random divots, pockmarks, slight wrinkles. I had the little dots/pore-like lines connecting for a time, but it stopped. No real help is out there; most dermatologists or docs just brush it off as general acne scarring of just "aging." I've recently had very long, deep indentations at where nasolabial folds would form come out, out of nowhere.

Hi, a couple of months ago, as the title of this post sugests ive started to get some acne mainly on my upper back and now also on my shoulders too. Cant believe it how it looks now and how it used to look (i was clear, and even used to make fun of my sister's acne on her back!). Damn puberty... =p

t just the acne, but mainly the resulting scars that made me decide to seek the help of a professional. I get keloids on most of my body, but not on my face. I do have abnormal/excessive scarring on my face, but I wouldn't compare it to the keloids on my body. The facial scars are generally quite flat, but brightly pigmented (the color of inflamed acne, unfortunately). They do not seem to improve much at all with time.
Also, what are the risks of additional scarring? I am getting the procedure done on bumps on my nose.
Here is my story:
I plan to undergo electrocauterization on my nose soon. I have a few bumps on my nose, roughly 1 large one, 2 medium size ones, and 3 small size ones. At first, I believed this bumps were hypertrophic acne scars. I thought this because the bumps appear exactly on the same location where I had pimples.
For a couple of months now I have been getting spots on my neck, I don't think its acne however, I am not sure, it is really embaressing as its clearly visible on the skin leaving scars.

I use an oil free non comedogenic foundation, every morning and night I've been taking Doxycycline for somewhere around 6 months now. I've also been using a topical Adapalene 0.1% Cream for about the same amount of time. I've noticed no improvement in my acne. Daughter wants to get a chemical peel for some acne scarring on her facial cheeks. She has been on antibiotics (too harsh on stomach), antibiotic topical cream, retin-A, you name it over the years. This could be keratosis pilaris, a very common condition in which there are numerous rough follicular spots, which may be skin coloured, red or brown on the outer aspect of the upper arms. It is most prevalent during the teenage years and persist into adult life. It has a tendency to be more severe during the winter months or other times of low humidity when skin dries out. This is genetic in origin and no cure is available.
