Common Questions and Answers about Acne cyst under skin

acne

Avatar m tn I had an acne spot under my chin that took a while to go down, it was under he skin so I couldn't pop it....anyway it eventually subsided but now I'm left with a tiny lump under the skin where the spot used to be...it's difficult to feel most of the time, I have to stretch my neck to feel it and it not visible on the surface at all. I am concerned about it now as its not gone and is still there 8 months or so on from the acne...what could this be?
Avatar n tn I agree - under the skin is usually a boil, cyst, or acne. On the skin is warts or molluscum, among other skin conditions.
Avatar m tn With serious acne I found that I would get these nasty lumps that took forever to reach the surface and erupt. This may be the caae with you. I never found a cure and the condition did not die away until my 50's. Sad news. What did help was not stimulating the skin of my face in anyway. In fact all I did was rinse it in lukewarm water - no soap - no astringents - no facials - no sunbathing. Following that routine I prevented serious flareups.
Avatar n tn After acne pimples go away, they often leave small knots of tissue under the skin. The body reabsorbs them over the course of months. They go away faster if you leave them alone, which is what you should do. I don't know where you got the impression "that non-inflamed acne remains colorless (well white or black comedones) until it becomes inflamed." That is not necessarily the case. This does not sound like rosacea.
Avatar f tn Hello, It can be due to a small sebaceous cyst. A sebaceous cyst is a closed sac occurring just under the skin which contains a "pasty" or "cheesy" looking substance called keratin. They may occur anywhere on body but scalp, ears, back, face, and upper arm, are common sites for sebaceous cysts.
Avatar f tn Thanks, Life .... the bumps themselves only last about 2-3 weeks I'd say, but sometimes once one goes away, another appears days later in a different place, which is why I say it's been going on for about 4 weeks now. I'm just perplexed. What else could this be?! I do shave, and am prone to acne, but there?! I dunno .... the plan is to go in when I get a new one although there is never anything to swab because for weeks, it's like a cyst under the skin.
Avatar n tn However cystic acne needs to be treated. Cystic acne is the most severe form of acne. Cystic acne affects deeper skin tissue than the more superficial inflammation from common acne. Since they are severe, so systemic medications are usually required. The treatment consists of topical and oral antibiotics, tretinoin, oral contraceptives in females and Intralesional corticosteroid injections. Very severe cases may need excision and drainage.
Avatar f tn I do not have bumps like this, however, I do have acne. I believe this started out like a pimple When looking at it, you notice the pin hole, but that's about it. If it weren't for that, I don't think you would notice it unless you rubbed my arm. It isn't raised. You can feel the bump underneath the skin, more like a cyst. It feels like a ball. I do see my doctor regularly for acne along with depression.
Avatar f tn I recently had a huge one with deep cyst (when i touch it i can feel hardness under the skin)...then it formed a white head and oozed a lot of pus (and some blood) after which it stopped being painful. My question is can I still keep on applying differin gel on top of the acne even though it's "broken" skin? The differin seems to help calm the inflammation pretty quick and dry it out...just this very big one didn't dry out and oozed instead...
Avatar f tn If anyone has had cystic acne (those painful under the skin pimples) it is kind of like that! Could this be a genital wart? the last sexual contact i had was like 1 year 1/2 ago... I'm not sure what this is?
909362 tn?1242673691 This sounds like a cyst, not an acne pimple. Cysts are balls of tissue under the skin that contain a white, puslike substance. They are not infected or dangerous. because they can only be removed by surgery that would leave an unpleasant and untreatable scar on your face, I advise you to leave this alone and live with it. Next time you see a doctor in person, you can confirm this. Best. Dr.
Avatar n tn I went to a skin doctor yesterday, who told me it was a cyst, but not acne and because the nature of it (being enlarged and swollen) he put me on an anti-biotic called levaquin, one pill a day/for seven days. Then, he told me if that doesn't work, that I may have to go the emergency room and have it removed. I'm due to get my cobra insurance, so I may seek a second opinion if the levaquin fails to reduce the swelling.
Avatar n tn I got what looks like a cyst on the back of my neck about a year and a half ago and i get what looks like cyst acne on my face and neck and my girlfriend just told me she has a cyst on her armpit it looks like the same thing is this anything serious
Avatar f tn Embarrassingly i had a huge cyst on my cheek that is a huge problem spot for acne for me. I left it alone for a couple days and tried to dry it out but ive hsf these before and decided against common knowledge to pop it. It was very full of yellowish puss but seemed to help its appearance yhe next day a faint green appeared under the skin where it was (maybe still is) do you possibly have an idea of what it is and how to treat?
Avatar m tn oh, and i might mention, under the skin it feels like one large mass... on top, it looks and feels like a bunch of very close...
Avatar n tn Hello, These bumps can be due to whiteheads or acne. It is a yellowish bump or plug on the skin and is a type of acne vulgaris. It is caused by excess oils that have accumulated in the sebaceous gland's duct. Cleanse the area thoroughly and apply a good mild exfoliating scrub on that. Apply a medicated cream or gel containing resorcinol, salicylic acid or benzoyl peroxide. This helps is soaking the oil and helps in peeling away these bumps.
Avatar m tn My boyfriend has about 3-4lumps or bumps on his left arm pit that can be felt under the skin. He says they are painful and itchy. But he has been using the same antipersperant for yrs , doesnt shave very often so does this sound normal or should he oay a visit to a doctor....?
Avatar n tn So I've never really had acne problems before. I scar really easy, so I try to be careful when I do get any kind of acne or skin problem. Just recently, I've notice these..."pimple" like things. They're had to describe, alls i know is that they've turned into "holes" in my skin. It's embarassing, but there is quite a few. I have one on my breast, like three on my shoulder, and more on my butt.
Avatar m tn Thanks for the reply, Dr. J Singh. The cyst is positioned under the skin and cannot be moved. It is 3-5mm in diameter. I feel like it is stuck on the corpora cavernosa. Does that exclude any of the above? I heard that a cyst can be extracted by sticking a needle and sucking it out. Is that true?

Avatar f tn The small deep hole as in your shoulder skin or back can be a sinus tract that usually develops in response to a deep-seated skin infection or acne. It is an abnormal channel in the body that opens into the environment on one end. A sinus tract typically leads from a focus of infection in deeper tissues to the skin surface. It may even discharge pus/ fluid on the skin surface. Resembling sinus-tracts are ice pick scars that are atrophic scars remaining after acne.
