acne

Avatar n tn For the past year, I've noticed a lump on my back, on the left side, underneath the skin has been about the size of a quarter. My skin is smooth, and to the touch it felt like a pimple, able to be moved around. However, over the past several weeks, it is getting less soft to the touch, feels like it's enlarged, and I am experiencing pain when I sit back on a chair, even if it is a soft armchair or couch.
Avatar n tn However cystic acne needs to be treated. Cystic acne is the most severe form of acne. Cystic acne affects deeper skin tissue than the more superficial inflammation from common acne. Since they are severe, so systemic medications are usually required. The treatment consists of topical and oral antibiotics, tretinoin, oral contraceptives in females and Intralesional corticosteroid injections. Very severe cases may need excision and drainage.
Avatar n tn I have severe cysitc acne that covers my upper back. I went to a dermatologist for this condition beginning at age 12. During the course of treatment I was perscribed Minocycline, Doxycycline, tetracycline, and sulfa based medications, all resulting in allergic reactions. I was finally placed on Accutane with positive results while taking the drug, however six months after completing treatment, the acne returned again.
Avatar f tn Hello, It can be due to a small sebaceous cyst. A sebaceous cyst is a closed sac occurring just under the skin which contains a "pasty" or "cheesy" looking substance called keratin. They may occur anywhere on body but scalp, ears, back, face, and upper arm, are common sites for sebaceous cysts.
Avatar f tn I am looking for help in regards to my 13 year old daughter. She has severe cystic acne for the past 7 months. The cystic acne was just beginning late last year in 2013. The oral antibiotics were of no further help so we started Accutane in Dec 2013. She had the terrible initial flare but it has not stopped!! She started out on Accutane 30mg twice a day and then bumped up to 40mg twice a day. Then dropped to 40mg once a day. She weighs about 155lbs.
Avatar f tn I do not have bumps like this, however, I do have acne. I believe this started out like a pimple When looking at it, you notice the pin hole, but that's about it. If it weren't for that, I don't think you would notice it unless you rubbed my arm. It isn't raised. You can feel the bump underneath the skin, more like a cyst. It feels like a ball. I do see my doctor regularly for acne along with depression.
Avatar f tn Hello, It can be cyst or fibrous papule of the nose. Blocked sebaceous glands, swollen hair follicles and excessive testosterone production will cause such cysts. Generally no treatment is required but they become painful then it means they are infected, Then surgical excision may be required. It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided.
Avatar n tn Hi all, I'm a 19 year old male. Relatively healthy. When I got up this morning I noticed that there was some kind of bump on my back in the left shoulder area. It doesn't itch and is not painful, it looks a little raised but flat surface. It's just there and doesn't look like any pimple that I have had. I usually don't get any kind of bumps or acne on my back so it has me worried. Here are two pictures. Sorry about the quality. Hopefully someone can help!

Avatar f tn It could be a Skene's gland infection. Such infections can be encouraged by sexual activity, though in your case it seems as though you always have a certain level of infection that results in inflammation when the area is irritated. Antibiotics can be used to clear up such infections so you might like to talk to your doctor. Good luck.
Avatar f tn I am now 9 weeks and my acne is awful. Cyst like, hard, painful ones that take weeks to go away! Now I can't use my retinA cream. Anyone else have tips to relieve this?

Avatar f tn A transvaginal ultrasound is the best way to identify or rule out an ovarian cyst. You mention acne and weight gain. Sometimes a condition called PCOS can cause those symptoms as well. Not having insurance is tough. :( Be sure to write down your questions and symptoms so you don't forget anything. Best wishes on trying to conceive. The waiting can be tough!
Avatar m tn Hello, Fusidic acid and minocycline are both antibiotics which are used for the treatment of acne. Treatment options include topical and oral antibiotics, topical retinoids, hormonal therapy, dermabrasion , phototherapy and laser resurfacing. Normally a combination of treatments is followed and if nothing proves effective then dermabrasion and laser therapy are useful. You can discuss these treatment options with your dermatologist.
Avatar f tn I recently read about a genetic test called AcneDX that tests whether or not oral antibiotics will be an effective acne treatment. My teenaged daughter has moderate acne and tetracycline has been suggested. I'm concerned about giving her a medication that may have side effects and produce an antibiotic resistance later in her life, and it may not even work to clear her acne up. The test sounds like a great way to find out prior to treatment if the antibiotics will help.
Avatar n tn ve had reoccurring epididymitis caused by a cyst on the left side. My urologist percsribed the usual treatment, antibiotics, support, etc. A couple years after my first infection, I started noticing blurred vision, and fatigue. About three months ago, I experienced pain and swelling now on the right side, with little discomfort from the left. I went back to my urologist, and again, treatment of antibiotics, support etc., this time with almost no improvement.
1384300 tn?1279439094 This all started 8 years ago when I was 12 years old, my first thoughts of it were just acne, a part of growing up. How wrong I was. I never really did understand how not normal it was untill it got out of control. When I was 15 was the first time I ever saw a doctor about this, what had started as a small pimple on my left testicle had enlarged to the size of a walnut within 3 days, it was an extremely painful experience.
