Common Questions and Answers about Acne cyst chin

Other than going to a Dermatologist, what can I do to get rid of acne cysts that pop up most of the time around my lower lip and on my chin? This discussion is related to pustular/cystic acne rosacea.
Generally, when using any acne medication it can take up to 3 weeks to notice a difference. The first 2 weeks the acne will actually get worse! This is due to the toxins working their way out. Drinking plenty of water helps to flush it out...and as the saying goes...drink it, don't bathe in it. Water can actually make many skin conditions worse. I suggest trying to go makeup free for a few weeks. Use gentle soaps if you must use soap. Dry your face completely after washing...
I had a course of Roaccutane in my 20's which improved my skin greatly but since having my children, 7 years ago I suffer with big 'lumps' on my chin each month. Not sure whether they are boils or cysts but they appear about 4 days before my period each month and last for a good week. It affects my self confidence and I feel I have suffered long enough with skin problems. Please help anyone.
Hi, I'm a 25 old woman and I've been getting moderate acne on my cheeks for a couple of years now. I've been on the contraceptive pill (Microgynon) for years and have recently changed to Marvelon (I've completed 1 cycle) to try and help. I've also been taking various supplements that are meant to help hormones, as I hear the pill can effect zinc levels etc. I've seen significant improvements and I'm pretty much clear on my cheeks now.
An acne cyst showed up on my chin during the last month of accutane treatment. The doctor injected it with cortizone, and it went down some, but not all. A week later, she injected it again. It did reduce in size, but still not satisfactorily. Two weeks later, she injected it a third time, and the cyst flattened to almost gone, only to raise up again to a small bb-sized bump that has remained for the last two weeks. I am so tired of this thing on my face.
Hi, This may be a nodular form of acne, a folliculitis or a boil. I do understand your concern. This may eventually drain if you will be able to see a yellowish eye in the middle of the cyst. However, there is a chance that this may not heal readily or the chance that this may be infected. You may still get a consult with your dermatologist. They may give you oral medications for this to help relieve the redness and the swelling. Do not touch it unnecessarily and do not pick on it.
Why do I only get cysts and acne on the chin? Have you ever seen this in any other male patients? I know it is common along the jawline for women. I had my hormones tested, and everything was normal. Can it be dental, glandualar? I am confused and concerned. I only get pimples on my chin. The rest is clear. I mean, does Accutane work, as in shrinking the sebaceous gland, no matter what the cause is? #2) I weigh 134 pounds.
I have a big acne cyst on my chin , yesterday i started taking doxiciclyne and start putting a sulphur cream at night but question can i put warm cloths on top of the skin to get it better Pls let me know it looks so bad Thanks
Recently I have been getting these bumps on my face I didnt usually have this or acne until I started using Johnson purpose oil free gentle face wash. I dont know why it would cause problems because its suppose to be gentle as water.
Hello, One possibility that needs evaluation is sebaceous cyst. Sebaceous cyst is a closed sac or cyst below the surface of the skin and fills with a fatty white, semi-solid material called sebum produced by sebaceous glands of the epidermis. It is usually painless but can become painful if infected. Then antibiotics are needed. They may occur anywhere on body but scalp, ears, back, face, and upper arm, are common sites for sebaceous cysts. If painless apply warm compresses on the lump.
no matter how I clean my face it always breaks out. Not horribly bad but my chin always has little breakouts..i can't ever get my face clear and with a good complection..please help!
Hi, Acne Vulgaris is the most common form of acne which includes several types of pimples. These acne lesions include blackheads, whiteheads, papules, pustules, nodules and cysts. Whiteheads result when a pore is completely blocked, trapping sebum (oil), bacteria, and dead skin cells, causing a white appearance on the surface. A pustule is similar to a whitehead, but is inflamed, and appears as a red circle with a white or yellow center.

a few months ago i had one of those cystic-under-the-skin type pimples on the side of my face down by my chin. i used that biore over-night acne mask thing on it one night. within a couple days the spot was very dry and red and had broken down into several smaller pimples. it has been a good 2-3 months since this whole thing started and i am still trying to make them go away! i have been very patient but by now i just want them to go away.
it looked like a teeny blackhead so i took a tweezer to pull it out and as i pulled on it ,my face started to ache all the way up to my forhead . my complexion is usually clear, a zit here and there on my chin during my period but thats about it . well i continuted to mess with it and of course made it 10x worse . its cleard up now but has a bump underneath the new skin . would this just be scar tissue ? then the other day i started getting a zit right below my lower lip.
I am a 47 year old male. I have had oily skin and acne since I was a teenager although it has been a lot less severe in the past twenty years or so. Except for the the last several years 3-5 years I have been breaking out on and off quite frequently around my mouth, chin and corners of the nose. Usually it starts as a white tipped pimple and then another sometimes right next to the first one, maybe thre or four to maybe six spots total around the mentioned areas.
Well, without a clinical evaluation it would be difficult to determine the cause of the lesion. Possibilities that may need to be considered include acne, folliculitis, cyst etc. It is not advised to squeeze such lesion for the risk of infections and scars. You could try using an antibiotic ointment such as framycetin or clindamycin and see if this seem to help. If you do not notice any improvement, it is advised to see a dermatologist for an accurate diagnosis and appropriate management.
I used to have cystic acne on my chin and would break out right before my period. The dermatologist put me on birth control and differin. I've taken the birth control for 2 months and then stopped but I'm still using differin (4 months now) and I didn't get a single cyst on my chin! (in other words, it works!) Good luck. PS: with differin, it gets a lot worse before it gets better.
The facial products turned my face red and I began to get bad cystic acne on my face, right next to my nose and on the sides of my chin. A year or so later, I used accutane, but only for 3 months or so. The accutane reduced the cysts but made my skin very dry, particularly on my forehead and lips. I stopped using accutane due to the side effects and basically gave up on my skin.
I now have what im pretty sure is a huge acne cyst (about an inch in diameter) under my skin hurts pretty bad an its making me look like i have a double chin. What kind of doctor should I see. I have crummy insurance so I want to make sure i see the right doctor.
When I used just acne medication, it didn't get rid of the itch, but got rid of the acne. The itchy acne wouldn't go away. Anyway, I would get Clindoxyl. It's a prescription medication with Clymadycin 1% and Benzoyle Peroxide 5%. If you use this topical medication, you can rid of the itch and the acne at the same time. The doctor who prescribed me this medication still thinks it's cystic acne, and gave me this medication.
5 weeks), I stopped all medication. Now, at almost 6 weeks I am having cystic like acne on my chin area...I have never had anything this bad! Will the rest of 8 months be like this? Arrggg....It even hurts! Can i take the Amoxicillan again? I read up and it said it is not a big deal. My DR has not gotten back to me yet. Anyone else had this? Any suggestions? Does it go away?
I am in my 50's and woke up today with a large acne cyst on my chin. I had this type of cyst in my youth but thought that they were over and done with. Anyhow, my doctor gave me Cephalexin 500 mg to take four times a day for five days. Do you think this will clear up a cyst?
a sensitivity to androgens (male hormones) in your body, acne bacteria on the skin and excess oil production by the sebaceous glands. You are not alone in experiencing acne after puberty, adult acne and late onset acne is increasingly common.
A few weeks ago my dermatologist injected a steroid ( not sure if it was Kenalog) into few acne cysts and I now have 2 indentations on my face that I noticed about 2 days ago. One on the middle of my forehead and on the left side of my chin. Is this normal and will it go away? I have also been having constant very painful headaches for the last week. Not sure if there is any relation between the 2.
Hello, It can be due to adult onset acne. Adult acne occur due to hormonal imbalance at this age. Just keep you face clean by washing with a mild soap atleast twice a day. Pat it dry and do not rub it. Avoid picking or pressing the acne. You can also use Benzoyl peroxide 5% lotion or gel once at bedtime. An amount of lotion the size of a pea should be enough to cover most of your face. If your skin becomes red or peels, you are using too much of the medicine or applying it too often.
A LOT.... I went from having perfectly clear skin to almost rash like bumps on my forehead, and painful cyst like zits on my chin line... even my neck has started to break out.... I have topical solution from the dermatologist but it doesn't seem to be helping. Does anyone know of a way to treat acne that is brought on my medication?
I have been taking effexor for nearly a year and since taking it, I have been experiencing almost constant acne on my chin area. They are very red, sometimes sore and itchy... and last FOREVER. When one goes, another appears. they are very unsightly! Is it medication related?
More importantly, though starting in my late twenties up till now, I have been experiecing a more localized version of acne--where on my chin,I consistently break out with small and big cysts--sometimes very painful. The new derm I have, put me on a new antiobiotic called Solidyn for a while and I was doing well, so much that he decided to put me a milder antiobiotic called Orascia.
