aciphex

Avatar f tn My dr suggests switching to Aciphex. Can you tell me if that is as good as Nexium? My insurance will cover it as they would not the Nexium.
Avatar m tn I connect a straight line between the taking of aciphex and the development of GERD. Is this a reasonable conclusion? or is there some other more likely explanation?
Avatar f tn pylori bacteria in the digestive tract. The irony is, if you have ulcers and take Aciphex alone, the Aciphex could make the symptoms worse. Clearly something changed after taking the antibiotics, and now your ally in heartburn control has become your enemy. It might be worth getting back to your physician on this one, since antibiotics can often be a "swinging door", killing some bacteria while making it easier for other bacteria to get through that otherwise wouldn't have.
Avatar f tn I am a 48 year old woman who is fairly healthy. Two or three years ago I was diagnosed with GERD via an endoscopy. I was put on Aciphex. I am also a heavy drinker. I have not taken the Aciphex on a regular basis because up until a month or so ago I have not had any symptoms. I am now having difficulty swallowing or at least feel like I have a lump in my throat - the constant clearing of throat, cough. I am now terrified that I have Barretts or cancer.
Avatar n tn Make sure to check with your doctor that it is safe for you to discuntinue use of the Aciphex before you go off of it though. I might also consider getting tested for the H-Polory again because I think its not uncommim for it to show a false-negative, and it can also come back again. Just a thought if your still feeling bad. Also Benadryl works great for nausea, ya have to give it about an hour to kick in though.
Avatar n tn if yes and all is fine then i would suggest a couple of things, first any hernia no matter what size is troubling and must be corrected, afterall its protruding through the diaphram, and thats not normal, second stay right away from apple cider vinegar, if any of the things which you are taking to fix your pain is causing your pain then its the apple cider, look theres another possibility, its called diaphram rubbing, its very similar to the earth plates and when they touch, the end result is an
Avatar m tn I wish gastroenterologist Physicians Assistant had told me what the inflammation was, reason for Aciphex. Nothing I can do now - - I should have ASKED if o.k. to discontinue. Can you give me facts about what I have done with discontinuing. I am truly scared. appointment for endoscopy Aug. 6th, consult on July 23rd. thank you.
Avatar n tn I tried it but didnt seem to help with me. Again I am like u i think it is like prevacid with sodium. I just make u burp alot and I was on the powder ahich tasted horrible.
Avatar n tn Dear Mrsrobert, welcome to the medhelp forum. Aciphex or rabeprazole is proton pump inhibitor and tingling extremities can occur with prolonged use. You need to inform your doctor immediately if you have been taking this drug for a while and have suggestive signs of Vitamin B12 deficiency like sore tongue, excessive weakness, tingling and numbness in the extremities due to decreased gastrointestinal absorption.
Avatar n tn There is a condition related to acid reflux called water brash. I'm not sure if that's what you're describing but it might be described as 'hypersalivation.' As far as your stopping the Aciphex, just because you're now negative for H. pylori doesn't mean your acid reflux is gone. You may need to continue with some medication and diet change for quite awhile to try to make sure that you're actually okay, and just not 'not feeling heartburn.
Avatar n tn He might want to consider getting a colonoscopy. I lot of people think their pain is in their stomach when it is really in their intestines.
711902 tn?1229431139 My dermatologist thinks that is is due to prolonged use of Nexium. So if I can no longer take Nexium for acid reflux what can I take? Thanks.
Avatar f tn You can ask the doctor if he (or the one who diagnosed you with GERD), knows, what is actual reason for your GERD - is it an anatomical change in your stomach/esophagus, or is it due to increased acid secretion (or both). Anatomical changes may be treated with surgery. Acid hypersecretion is treated with H2 blockers (Ranital..) or with antacids (Tums).
Avatar f tn I would like your opinion on if you thing that the Aciphex is still the best choice and if there is anything else I should be doing. I have gotten to the point that I'm very frustrated because it has been so long since I have felt really good.
Avatar m tn situation seems to get better but at times, the condition that I have something stuck in throat and a little difficulty to swallow flares up. Got a sore throat a couple of days back. but now it is better. feeling weak and has muscle pains occasionally.. any ideas? should i expect improvement only after a while? currently i am on the 15th day of taking aciphex... could it be allergies?
Avatar f tn PPI's (proton pump inhibitors) are a group of medications used to treat GERD like Prilosec, Prevacid, Protonix, Aciphex, Nexium, and Dexilant.
Avatar f tn m not quite sure what it is. It starts with a swirling in my sternum area which turns into a twisting type cramping. This leads to headaches, dizziness, fevers that go up and down and acid (I'm on 20 mg aciphex - 2 x daily) that races up my throat due to vomiting that causes my throat to swell. It is something that comes and goes. Two weeks ago it hit on a Saturday & my husband almost took me to the hospital due to possible dehydration.
Avatar m tn along with increased belching, gurgling stomach and lots of undigested vegetables in my stool. I was on aciphex for years because of gerd but was switched to dexilant for gastritis. I have had the belching and gurgling for about 4 months and the upper stomach pain for almost 2 months. i am very regular with my bowel movements (once a day) so i dont see how it could be ibs.
Avatar f tn Sounds like GERD with Gastritis. What is your diet like? Eating small or large meals daily? Eating before bedtime? Smoker? Alcohol and/or caffeine drinker? Stressed?
Avatar f tn Selma, The green drink I take is wheat grass. It doesn't seem to bother me. I also eat raw celery because it seems to help. I might try the whey again and see what happens. The Aciphex and diet have helped my esophagus begin to heal so I don't want to risk a setback so I'm being very careful. I eat yogurt because it has beneficial bacteria for the intestines and enzymes that help digestion. It doesn't seem to give me much of a problem so far.
Avatar n tn I have been on reflux meds for the past 5yrs and have had numerous side effects from hyperhydrosis, a tremor in my hand (which I was on propranolol for about 1yr 9mths for), and most recently a tic has developed in my eyelids. The hydrosis has finally went away (4.5yrs later) and the hand tremor is minimal but my eyelids are going nuts. I am assuming its the drugs for reflux (I am having surgery for that soon). Does anyone know of anything else that would be causing this?
Avatar n tn Acid reflux can cause the feeling of having a lump in your throat. If the Aciphex has not imporved symptoms in 7 months, it is past time to try something else or to increase the dosage if possible. Effective treatment of acid reflux should eliminate the feeling of having that lump in your throat. Get back to your dr and see what other options you have for treatment. Some times people require both a proton pump inhibitor ( PPI - like Aciphex) and an H2 blocker (Zantec, Pepcid...
Avatar n tn Hello. I was diagnosed with GERD several months ago, and lived with almost daily pain (no meds were really working) until about 2 months ago, when I started Nexium. I was blissfully almost with any symptoms for about 6 weeks, even if I ate common reflux triggers, but now I'm experiencing pain again. Can Nexium just stop working like that? I should add that my diagnosis came after basic blood tests, an endoscopy, an ultrasound to check my gallbladder and a CT scan of my abdomen.
