Avatar n tn I have been on reflux meds for the past 5yrs and have had numerous side effects from hyperhydrosis, a tremor in my hand (which I was on propranolol for about 1yr 9mths for), and most recently a tic has developed in my eyelids. The hydrosis has finally went away (4.5yrs later) and the hand tremor is minimal but my eyelids are going nuts. I am assuming its the drugs for reflux (I am having surgery for that soon). Does anyone know of anything else that would be causing this?
Avatar f tn It mostly works for my GERD - without it it is unbearable. The problem I have is the terrible side effects. They are all gastrointestinal. I am miserable all the time. I feel like my food takes FOREVER to digest and move through my system! I feel like when I eat the food just "sits" there for such a long time. I feel constipated, but can "go" most days, though not completely. I have gained about 8 pounds, and most days I look like I'm pregnant!
Avatar n tn So far I have tried Prevacid, Aciphex, Prilosec,Protonix, and Nexium. Aciphex gave me bad side effects and Nexium made my reflux symptoms worse. Prilosec did absolutely nothing for me. I was successfully treated for H. Pylori in Nov 07. Since then I have been suffering from Water Brash and now heartburn. I don't know where to turn. My GI now wants me to take Zegerid(isn't this med just like Prilosec with sodium?). Any input will be greatly appreciated.
711158 tn?1229544700 To best try and answer some of your questions, we need to know what blood tests for thyroid have been run and what were the actual results. If free T3 and free T4 have not been run, along with the usual TSH, then that would be a good idea to have done. I have no experience with BP being affected by thyroid, so I'll leave that for other members.
Avatar m tn Which, incidentally, stopped when I stopped taking the aciphex. Shortly after taking the aciphex I started experiencing symptoms of GERD. I still have the GERD to this day - some days its worse than others. I connect a straight line between the taking of aciphex and the development of GERD. Is this a reasonable conclusion? or is there some other more likely explanation?
Avatar n tn I have been on Aciphex 20 since 2007, with instant results. After changing Health Ins. , I am told by the current insurer that they won't cover Aciphex. I must go thru a step program, starting with Nexium, which my Doctor dosed at 40 mg instead of 20 mg, saying Nexium didn't come in 20 and the 40mg of Nexium is comparable to the 20 mg Aciphex . Questions: (1) Is the above true? (2) Are the side effects the same, and (3) What's the difference between the two.
Avatar n tn Hi, If you have a discharge from the urethra, a yeast (candida) infection needs to be ruled out. It is possible that you became infected befor symptoms became obvious in your girlfriend. Is it possible that the infection she had has not been completely eliminated? How was it determined that the infection had disappeared? Pain in the testicles and a whitish discharge are reasons enough for meeting your doctor and pursuing further treatment after the requisite tests.
Avatar f tn re definitely gonna experience those serious side effects in which you are talking about. JMO.

Avatar n tn Does anyone else have a problem where their doctor does not believe them when they tell them their PPIs are causing bad side effects for them? I've tried all of them and all caused extreme discomfort where I can hardly have a quality life. Prevacid was the least of all the evils but I still have extreme nausea and lightheadedness. I take the pill around 6 am every morning and the nausea tends to last till between noon and 2 pm.
Avatar n tn YES, Lyrica can indeed cause weight loss due to decrease (not increase) of appetite combined with a feeling of euphoria where on believes they can conquer the world so buzz around like a VERY busy bee. These are on the highly publicized side effects pages such as found at Mayo Clinic, WebMD, and a list more under - RARE OR LESS COMMON SIDE EFFECTS. Right there near the top is loss of appetite, euphoria and a long list more.
Avatar f tn If you go on sites such as WebMD you can find those side effects, and they will also be on the information packet that comes with your first prescription. Most of us don't read it. But what will always be hidden is that every individual will react differently to medication -- the trials will result in generalizations that don't necessarily apply to the person sitting in front of the doc who prescribes the medication.
Avatar n tn Went to my Dr and he put me on xanex, then paxil( which thankfully I got off and got thru the side effects. Now on zoloft and aciphex for Gerd. It has helped alot (the aciphex) but I still get those pains and when I do it just sends me over the edge. Dr says my lungs are clear.
Avatar m tn worsened IBS - bad abdominal cramps (caused by Nexium together with fever and Zantac) a white-coated and burning tongue (caused by Prevacid, Zantac, Protonix, Pepcid, Riopan). I'd like to know if anybody has experienced intollerance to the various antireflux medicines similar to mine. Have you ever had a severely burning tongue caused by them?
Avatar f tn Levaquin a a pretty strong broad spectrum antibiotic. I was told it was effective against staff also, when I had a cut on my leg that wasn't healing. There is an article on webmd about leep and side effects. Type leep in the webmd search engine.
511034 tn?1327802985 You also take meds that the higher the dose the worse the side effects are. Check those with WEBMD or othe online help, or talk with your pharmacist. Some of it can't be helped but it wouldn't hurt to take vitamin B12 everyday, like 1 tablet 500 mcg. with supper. Also B complex is good for depression.
Avatar f tn No doubt, someone will have had those results. I took it and experienced no side effects whatsoever but strangely, other people started acting better. What's yer doc say?
Avatar m tn my gerd cleared up , i healed up completely and i felt great .....no side effects . u should ask ur doc about aciphex ....... i tried everything and aciphex is the best ....... let me know what happens ....
Avatar f tn My husband was originally on Aciphex, but placed on Nexium after our insurance stopped covering aciphex and he was miserable. Aciphex has always worked so much better for him. Finally, after a year of misery he's back on aciphex and so much happier. I hope it works as well for you.
Avatar n tn My GI switched me to Nexium because Aciphex gave me terrible side effects and Protonix made my water brash symptoms ever worse. I have tried Prilosec in the past and it didn't have much of an effect for me. I'm just wondering what else I can do to alleviate my water brash symptoms. It has been on-going for more than three months. I can pretty eat anything I want(coffee, wine and pizza etc, etc) and my symptoms do not get better or worse after I eat.
Avatar n tn m not familiar with those particular meds...have you looked perhaps on WebMD...looked up each med and read all of their potential side effects? There are usually things your doc or pharmacist doesn't tell you. Also, are you taking anything else? Prescribed or not? Could be an interaction issue. Check with you pharmacist about potential medication interactions. If it gets to bothersome...ask your doc to change your meds.
Avatar m tn Then try reading up about DHEA, its a over the counter hormon replacmet, but please read all about it first and its side effects, just put in the old serch engine DHEA for ED, or try looking up webmd and they have and page on DHEA, ie what it is, what it can do nad how much to take, I'm 64 and it worked for me, but I did read all about befroe going down the street with it.
895207 tn?1241549652 That is one of the side effects monitored for with lithium with the monthly blood test and not as much of a problem with other mood stabilizers but every medication has its specific set of side effects. Lithium does have a fair amount of side effects but its also highly effective. I personally found Lamictal quite effective for rapid cycling but every person has their own experience. We have good websites posted for information purporses on the various mood stabilizers clinically available.
Avatar n tn I have to say that I do feel better. I read on webmd that anxiety, nervousness, and depression are all side effects of this medication. Is it possible that this med lead to my panic attacks?? I never had one until I started on this med. Thanks so much!!
