Avatar f tn I've stopped taking methimazole 12 days ago because of the strong side effects (hives, joint/muscle pain, dry throat). Though these effects are lessening, I wonder how long it might take for them to be completely gone.
Avatar n tn I have been on reflux meds for the past 5yrs and have had numerous side effects from hyperhydrosis, a tremor in my hand (which I was on propranolol for about 1yr 9mths for), and most recently a tic has developed in my eyelids. The hydrosis has finally went away (4.5yrs later) and the hand tremor is minimal but my eyelids are going nuts. I am assuming its the drugs for reflux (I am having surgery for that soon). Does anyone know of anything else that would be causing this?
Avatar f tn It mostly works for my GERD - without it it is unbearable. The problem I have is the terrible side effects. They are all gastrointestinal. I am miserable all the time. I feel like my food takes FOREVER to digest and move through my system! I feel like when I eat the food just "sits" there for such a long time. I feel constipated, but can "go" most days, though not completely. I have gained about 8 pounds, and most days I look like I'm pregnant!
1089121 tn?1256818742 oh yes these are some of the wounderful side effects of tx,do check with your dr.about your hives to make sure its not a reaction but my dr. put me on tiamcinolone cream for the rash,it does tin to help.
Avatar n tn So far I have tried Prevacid, Aciphex, Prilosec,Protonix, and Nexium. Aciphex gave me bad side effects and Nexium made my reflux symptoms worse. Prilosec did absolutely nothing for me. I was successfully treated for H. Pylori in Nov 07. Since then I have been suffering from Water Brash and now heartburn. I don't know where to turn. My GI now wants me to take Zegerid(isn't this med just like Prilosec with sodium?). Any input will be greatly appreciated.

Avatar f tn Hello, Your symptoms are suggestive of hives. Hives (medically known as urticaria) are red, itchy, raised areas of skin that appear in varying shapes and sizes. They have a tendency to change size rapidly and to move around, disappearing in one place and reappearing in other places, often in a matter of hours. Many cases of hives are "idiopathic," meaning no cause is known. Others may be triggered by viral infections or medications. Treatment is by oral antihistamines.
Avatar f tn Hi Ladies I just have as question about metformin whats the side effects some of you may have had? I start to take metformin today so maybe this will bring on my period. I had a natural m.c in nov 2008 and no AF as of yet.
Avatar m tn Which, incidentally, stopped when I stopped taking the aciphex. Shortly after taking the aciphex I started experiencing symptoms of GERD. I still have the GERD to this day - some days its worse than others. I connect a straight line between the taking of aciphex and the development of GERD. Is this a reasonable conclusion? or is there some other more likely explanation?
Avatar n tn I have been on Aciphex 20 since 2007, with instant results. After changing Health Ins. , I am told by the current insurer that they won't cover Aciphex. I must go thru a step program, starting with Nexium, which my Doctor dosed at 40 mg instead of 20 mg, saying Nexium didn't come in 20 and the 40mg of Nexium is comparable to the 20 mg Aciphex . Questions: (1) Is the above true? (2) Are the side effects the same, and (3) What's the difference between the two.
Avatar n tn Hi, If you have a discharge from the urethra, a yeast (candida) infection needs to be ruled out. It is possible that you became infected befor symptoms became obvious in your girlfriend. Is it possible that the infection she had has not been completely eliminated? How was it determined that the infection had disappeared? Pain in the testicles and a whitish discharge are reasons enough for meeting your doctor and pursuing further treatment after the requisite tests.

Avatar n tn Mild problems: • soreness, redness, tenderness, or swelling where the shot was given • fainting (mainly adolescents) • headache, muscle aches • fever • nausea If these problems occur, they usually begin soon after the shot and last 1-2 days. Severe problems: • Life-threatening allergic reactions to vaccines are very rare. If they do occur, it is usually within a few minutes to a few hours after the shot. If the reaction is severe: What should I look for?
1072826 tn?1255484218 Is there anything more effective, which can be done to eliminate the problem? I searched the Internet for Legofer side effects, but there seems (for good reasons) no Info available... :( Thanking you in advance for the good advice.
Avatar f tn Hi, I have severe gastroparesis and have had for several years. For mine I take aciphex two times a day...one in morning and one at bedtime. My reflux was so bad it caused me to have bronchial spasms and coughing. The doctors have never mentioned that I could only take for a certain amount of time. I work for a family doctor, but see a gastro doctor plus a internal medicine doctor so feel sure one of them would have given me information by this time if there was a reason.

1139187 tn?1355706647 I had a lot of those same side effects plus hives and pain in my calves like ants biting. I'll probably have to get a cortisone shot to get over the hives. Doctor didn't say what to do after injection, just come back for the next one. I refused the next one and am afraid to take anymore. The only question he asked: was I allergic to eggs or chicken. Well, I eat both, so did not expect a reaction. Would have rather had the cortisone shot to the knee!
343006 tn?1314446471 Phew! I bet you are relieved the oncologist told you that about the hives and itching. Is it tomorrow you're going to have the melanoma removed? I wish you luck. Nothing to it at all! Hey I was on a beta blocker called Bystolic and it actually didn't give me any bad side effects. It's known to be one of the drugs that causes the least side effects.
