Aciphex or nexium

Common Questions and Answers about Aciphex or nexium

aciphex

Avatar n tn (1) Is the above true? (2) Are the side effects the same, and (3) What's the difference between the two. Thanks for your time.
Avatar n tn He said he thought it worked better than aciphex. Well about 8 weeks into the nexium I was getting great pains, I thought my desease was getting worse. I went back to the Dr. and asked to be put back on the aciphex. I beleive those pains were a side effect of the nexium.
Avatar m tn I have had GERD for years. I went from Aciphex to Protonix and now Nexium. I have recently had a B-12 count toward the low level (but still in normal range) and am concerned that this is because of the medication. I also heard that the medication can cause stomach cancer. Is using the medication for so long safe? Is there a timframe for which it should be stopped? Also, I recently heard about Kapidex.
Avatar n tn So far I have tried Prevacid, Aciphex, Prilosec,Protonix, and Nexium. Aciphex gave me bad side effects and Nexium made my reflux symptoms worse. Prilosec did absolutely nothing for me. I was successfully treated for H. Pylori in Nov 07. Since then I have been suffering from Water Brash and now heartburn. I don't know where to turn. My GI now wants me to take Zegerid(isn't this med just like Prilosec with sodium?). Any input will be greatly appreciated.
Avatar m tn Been on prilosec, nexium aciphex, etc., ever since. My GP ordered an upper GI. All normal except MASSIVE GERD. He doubled my nexium to 2 a day. Also had a chest xray which was normal. He ordered abdominal blood work - all normal (gall bladder, liver, pancreas, etc) Still couldn't shake the intermittent nausea....Had an endoscopy - showed gerd, slight irritation of esophagus, small hiatal hernia and stomach blisters and nodules which were removed and benign.
711902 tn?1229431139 My dermatologist thinks that is is due to prolonged use of Nexium. So if I can no longer take Nexium for acid reflux what can I take? Thanks.
Avatar n tn My GI switched me to Nexium because Aciphex gave me terrible side effects and Protonix made my water brash symptoms ever worse. I have tried Prilosec in the past and it didn't have much of an effect for me. I'm just wondering what else I can do to alleviate my water brash symptoms. It has been on-going for more than three months. I can pretty eat anything I want(coffee, wine and pizza etc, etc) and my symptoms do not get better or worse after I eat.
Avatar m tn Who has had an endoscophy prior, during or post treatment? What was the reason for the endoscophy -- normal pre-tx procedure, suspected cirrhosis, GERD, etc. Also, for those that had the procedure, did anyone get a diagnosis of Barrett's Esophagus? If so, were PPI's (Nexium, Aciphex, etc) recommended? ---------- In my case I had an endoscophy during treatment for signficant GERD (chronic reflux). It showed a short form of Barrett's. Same with endoscophy post treatment..
Avatar f tn Both said they did not believe there was a correlation to the hearburn and resection. The GI doctor put me on Aciphex for 6 days which did not work and put me on Nexium 40 mg twice daily yesterday which does not seem to be working either as I have to take rolaids about 5 hours after taking the Nexium. Can you tell me: 1. Have you ever heard of hearburn/GERD starting after a bowel resection 2.
Avatar f tn I am on 5mg Reglan 2-3 times daily for gastroparesis. Also, Nexium 40mg and zantac 150 mg. Is there any concern of being on any of these drugs long term?
Avatar n tn Sorry. My original question was whether or not reflux medications (Prilosec, Nexium, Aciphex, & Prevacid) could have this tic as a side effect. I have experienced every other side effect from these drugs so I figured that the tics could be from that too. I believe the drugs caused a tremor I temporarily had in my hand (prescribed propranolol for 1.5yrs), hyperhydrosis (4yrs), and insomnia (recent). I have been on any one of these drugs for around 7yrs and look forward to getting off soon.
Avatar n tn s a surgical procedure {maybe performed like an esophagogastroduodenoscopy PLUS}, THAT might be more sensible than the rest of my life on AciPhex or whatever the next new drug is .........................
Avatar n tn Since then I am taking Acid suppressants such as Nexium and Aciphex as prescribed by my doctor. I also underwent Endoscopy and Biopsy, Abdominal Ultrasound, X-Ray and Blood test . All the tests came normal except they found H-Pilory infection and I took antibiotics and subsequent Stool test for H-Pilory showed negative. I am still having all the above discomforts which is going on for 5 months. I normally eat very healthy and I am following a strict diet since this problem started.
Avatar n tn Prevacid, Nexium, Protonix, Aciphex, Zantac, and Pepcid are all used to treat reflux. You can ask you doctor who will know best which one is least likely to cause you dizzyness.
Avatar n tn I have actually been on some form of reflux med for a bit longer than 5yrs and started with Prilosec OTC, then prescription Prilosec, Nexium, Aciphex, and briefly Prevacid. These days I tend to take whatever I have in my medicine cabinet (Aciphex or Prevacid) twice a day, max dosage, and occasionally a tagamet to help out. I have a hiatial hernia that is going to be fixed soon so I am hoping to get off the meds and that the side effects will eventually go away...I hope.
Avatar n tn Really I am thinking that my body is constantly in distress because of my stomach digestive issues. Anyone have advice, or any suggestions? I have been on prevacid, protonix, omeprazole, aciphex and now the nexium. Please help me!
296025 tn?1233256719 Prevacid is a Protein Pump Inhibitor (PPI) like Aciphex, Nexium and Prilosec. It's indicated for GERD (chronic acid reflux) and as far as I know has nothing to do with treating Hep C, other than if you happen to have GERD. I believe Prilosec is a generic sold OTC but not 100% sure so speak to your doctor and pharmacist regarding switching off.
Avatar m tn I have tried a lot of medications (Pepicd, Zantac, Prilosec, Aciphex and now Nexium). None have really helped that much. I have been on Nexium for about 3 weeks and over the first week I started feeling better, but I guess I leveled off because I am at a point that is a little better than 3 weeks ago but still not very good. I have had pretty much every test, blood work, Upper GI, ultrasound and an endoscopy and they have found nothing. I have never been a big spicy or fatty food eater.
Avatar m tn you should probably get a upper endoscopy done to confirm if it is ulcers. i have them, and have had similar symptoms and thoughts of my brain turning against me. i took the Prilosec OTC for about a week before stopping, it offered no relieve. But without an endoscopy most insurances won't even let one pill of Nexium or Aciphex fall into a prescription bottle.
Avatar n tn Hi selmaS, I first started out with aciphex and then the doctor prescribed nexium. The nexium didnt work so I went back to the aciphex. I use to drink beer a lot and I started drinking a wine coolers and stopped eating certain foods. I did have my thyroid checked a few years ago but i think I need to again since mostly everyone in my family has it. I have to see the ENT in the morning and have a procedure done and I'll ask about that. What do you do for the nodules on ur thyroid?
Avatar m tn is the Prednisone,Zithromax, Acyclovir [for cold sores] and Clindamycin ones causing me to have this Acid Reflux? Will Aciphex cure or need surgery.....
Avatar n tn Hello, I have been battling stomach issues for almost 10 years. I originally went to a GI doctor because I would feel very full after eating only a small meal, almost always in the evenings. After an endoscopy, it was discovered that I have eosinophilic esophagitis. However, many of the symptoms I don't have. I never have food stuck in my throat or have trouble swallowing... Here are the symptoms that I have on a regular basis.
Avatar n tn i take zantac 150 now maybe itll work. idk... just wondering if anyone else feels this way or am i going crazy or is it something else. also i have lots of gas that seems to come and go from time to time. i hope im not the only one feeling like this.
Avatar m tn to the point where I would wake up in the middle of the night gasping for breath with a mouthful of acid. I was on Aciphex first, then Protonix and now Nexium. My problem is that the back of my tongue is all white and bumpy (looks a bit like thrush). I was told that this is from the acid that has come up over the years. Is that likely? If so, is there anything I can do to remove it (treatment, over-the-counter remedy, medication, etc.)? Thanks for the help!
Avatar m tn The problem with PPI's -- any PPI, whether Nexium, Aciphex, Prilosec, or Prevacid (which I'm currently on, 30mg/2xday for GERD) -- is that once you go off of it, the stomach goes into overdrive with creating acid. Unfortunately, the rule of thumb there is that it'll do that for about as long as you were taking it. (If you were taking it for a month, then it'll happen for a month after.
428886 tn?1217682034 Oh the dreaded heartburn with riba, ask your doctor about writing you an rx for nexium, its a proton pump inhibitor. different from over the counter anti acids. And can be taken safely during tx. And they work.
