Avatar n tn It is better to avoid the foods that make you sick than to take an expensive, potentially harmful drug so that you can eat the foods that make you sick.
Avatar f tn I have for the past 10 years been on Aciphex 20mg for to much acid in my stomache, I was at 4 times the normal amount but now I have about 7 times to normal amount I have been taking 2 aciphex pills in the am and 1 in the evening. When I had my last scope I also had alot of irritation and alot of stomache polyps. I have latlely been having alot of diarreha about 2 hours after I eat and I'm generally not feeling well.
Avatar m tn I was given Aciphex to take while taking a prescribed antibiotic 5 years ago. I developed terrible hypersalivation while taking the aciphex. Which, incidentally, stopped when I stopped taking the aciphex. Shortly after taking the aciphex I started experiencing symptoms of GERD. I still have the GERD to this day - some days its worse than others. I connect a straight line between the taking of aciphex and the development of GERD. Is this a reasonable conclusion?
Avatar f tn pylori bacteria in the digestive tract. The irony is, if you have ulcers and take Aciphex alone, the Aciphex could make the symptoms worse. Clearly something changed after taking the antibiotics, and now your ally in heartburn control has become your enemy. It might be worth getting back to your physician on this one, since antibiotics can often be a "swinging door", killing some bacteria while making it easier for other bacteria to get through that otherwise wouldn't have.
Avatar f tn My dr suggests switching to Aciphex. Can you tell me if that is as good as Nexium? My insurance will cover it as they would not the Nexium.
711902 tn?1229431139 My dermatologist thinks that is is due to prolonged use of Nexium. So if I can no longer take Nexium for acid reflux what can I take? Thanks.
Avatar n tn My Gastorentologist asked me to continue to take Aciphex. I am not comfortable taking these medications for such a long time and when I stop taking the medication I am getting buring in my stomach which I never had before. Is the any cure for my condition?
Avatar n tn Has anyone tried Zegerid? So far I have tried Prevacid, Aciphex, Prilosec,Protonix, and Nexium. Aciphex gave me bad side effects and Nexium made my reflux symptoms worse. Prilosec did absolutely nothing for me. I was successfully treated for H. Pylori in Nov 07. Since then I have been suffering from Water Brash and now heartburn. I don't know where to turn. My GI now wants me to take Zegerid(isn't this med just like Prilosec with sodium?).
Avatar n tn Yes. Long term use of PPIs like aciphex causes decreased absorption of vitamin B12 leading to a deficiency in this crucial vitamin. Vitamin B12 deficiency symptoms include numbness and tingling in the hands and feet. Permanent nerve damage will occur if vitamin B12 deficiency has has gone without treatment for a sufficient time. The baking soda test: Mix 1/4 teaspoon of baking soda (sodium bicarbonate, not baking powder) in an 8 ounce glass and drink it.
Avatar n tn You must follow the directions on the prescription or the OTC package. I don't know that medication, but you must follow the directions on the package or the directions your doctor gave you. If he said to just take it but didn't say anything more and this is OTC, follow the directions on the package. If he had other directions, call his office and get clarification of the directions over the phone.
Avatar m tn He said i could have acid reflux which causes dry cough and sometimes hard to breath. I currently take Aciphex for that and it works but still have bad dry cough. Could it be possibly cough variant asthma?
Avatar f tn well I am going to see my GI doc monday.. I have GERD and was taking AcipHex but had to stop when I found out I was pregnant.. so I am hoping it is just severe GERD related to that.. however, my lower back (flank, both sides) )is hurting more this morning, where the kidneys are.??? I am just wondering if the 2 can be related.. took pepto bismol last night and that seemed to help the stomach pain a little, but not completely... thanks for input!
Avatar m tn i took levaquin and it was 750 mg it threw me into panic attacks and anxiety i though i was going to die that night , i did not sleep for 24 hours straight, it was from the med i have took the 500 many times but that almost did me in , i will never take levaquin again google it you will not want to take again either . its a bad drug and cant hurt you .
Avatar n tn My husband is taking Aciphex for reflux, yet he continues to have stomach pain, not hearburn. He has recently had an upper GI and nothing was found. Nothing he takes orally helps the pain. What should he do if the specialist can't find his problem.
Avatar m tn is the Prednisone,Zithromax, Acyclovir [for cold sores] and Clindamycin ones causing me to have this Acid Reflux? Will Aciphex cure or need surgery.....
Avatar m tn I was dx a few months back. Take advair twice a day (was taking singulair too, but it gave me a headache) & take aciphex daily for gerd. the aciphex has helped w/ the coughing some, but i still cough a good bit...sometimes to the point of dizziness. If I laugh, I cough. Any suggestions?
Avatar n tn He recommended I go back on Aciphex or another PPI and to take Benadryl. This seems to make sense. I asked my GI about my hypersalivation problem but he did not know what the cause could be. After the Endoscopy and the H. Pylori visit, the GI doesn't wanted to be bothered. Anyone else have a similar experience?
Avatar n tn I've recently been diagnosed with Fructose intollerance. Of course I am in denial and shock at the same time. My gastroenterologists' nurse called to give me the results and in the same conversation said she would send me info. and told me to talk to a diatician if I have questions and sent me on my way. Here's the thing....I started having 'symptoms' of bloating and constant burping about 3-4 months ago.
Avatar f tn They took a urine sample, ran blood tests, rehydrated me, took x-rays of my chest and abdomen and then did an ultrasound to check all my vital organs looking for gall stones, kidney stones.....checked my liver, etc., and they were all fine. My doctor does have me on 2 20mg aciphex a day and I thought perhaps it was tricking my body into thinking it didn't have enough acid, so was producing too much, so I cut myself down to one Aciphex a day and seem to be doing better. Thanks for asking.
Avatar n tn I initially started taking Dexilant in the morning, but was having break through symptoms in the late after noon, so my dr told me to take it in the early afternoon. I will also take some Rolaids (calcium and magnesium only) if I am experiencing break through or I know I have done something that will trigger symptoms (eating spicy, late at night...).
198506 tn?1251156915 I was diagnosed with silent reflux on 2/6/08 and prescribed Aciphex. The ENT diagnosed the reflux through an endoscopy I think it's called...he threaded a fiber optic camera through my nostril and down my throat. He said my throat was swollen and red and that I had vocal cord nodules. I had no symptoms of GERD and went to the ENT because I had a near constant feeling of throat contriction. A previous Barrium swallow showed no GERD.
Avatar m tn will it take time for the new meds to work? Or could something else be going on to cause this....*by the wayk, i also had an ultra sound of abdominal area - all normal. Also have colonoscopys every three years.....no problem there....
Avatar m tn Welcome to the gastroenterology community! Most likely, stopping the Aciphex was no big deal. It probably didn't cause any negative things to happen to you, but this would be good to ask your doctor about.
Avatar n tn I have actually been on some form of reflux med for a bit longer than 5yrs and started with Prilosec OTC, then prescription Prilosec, Nexium, Aciphex, and briefly Prevacid. These days I tend to take whatever I have in my medicine cabinet (Aciphex or Prevacid) twice a day, max dosage, and occasionally a tagamet to help out. I have a hiatial hernia that is going to be fixed soon so I am hoping to get off the meds and that the side effects will eventually go away...I hope.
Avatar m tn However, over the last three days since I’ve been back on the medication, I notice that about 12-15 hours after I take the medication, I start to have very mild symptoms which get progressively worse until a few hours after I take my next dose. Specifically, my throat becomes very tight, irritated and sore. I also get the feeling as though the back of my throat/nose is very dry. As you can imagine, these symptoms are very disconcerting!
Avatar f tn Avoid spicy foods and keep your head elevated at night to help prevent the acid from flowing into your throat. Try not to worry and take your medication until you see your GI doc. Hope this helps and best wishes!
