Aciphex how long to work

Common Questions and Answers about Aciphex how long to work

aciphex

Avatar f tn My dr suggests switching to Aciphex. Can you tell me if that is as good as Nexium? My insurance will cover it as they would not the Nexium.
Avatar f tn I've taken Aciphex for over 10 years for extreme GERD. Since all the new studues came out about it being so bad long term, I decided to try and get off it. I'm down from 20mg a day to 20mg every 3-4 days. I've weaned over the last 2 months, had horrible rebound and can't get passed this stage. I have bad stomach pains, diarrhea, nausea. I'm supplementing with Tums currently. Any helpful advice is appreciated. I'm ready to give up.
Avatar m tn Acid reflux is defintely a possibility of cause though so I would give the Aciphex a bit more time to work. There may be other drugs that work better for you, but you have to ask.
Avatar f tn I am getting tired already tho and having back/ hip pain so hoping I can last that long at work. Work as long as I your body will let you.
Avatar f tn I have for the past 10 years been on Aciphex 20mg for to much acid in my stomache, I was at 4 times the normal amount but now I have about 7 times to normal amount I have been taking 2 aciphex pills in the am and 1 in the evening. When I had my last scope I also had alot of irritation and alot of stomache polyps. I have latlely been having alot of diarreha about 2 hours after I eat and I'm generally not feeling well.
Avatar n tn I had taken them for 13 years, every day, sometimes having to double dose for severe symptoms, or add antiacids. I've had gastric ulcers and esophageal spasms as well as gastritis and esophagitis. I don't drink or smoke, and I have gradually gained weight throughout the 13 years. I resolved to quit and did some research to help me: 1) PPIs are effective at reducing acid, but you will still have non-painful reflux of gastric contents into the esophagus and higher.
Avatar n tn yet another question...when I have an offending food...how long until the reaction starts and how long will it/can it last? Thank you for taking time to read all of this....
Avatar n tn (1) Is the above true? (2) Are the side effects the same, and (3) What's the difference between the two. Thanks for your time.
198506 tn?1251156915 And the pain extends to my left flank. The pain gets very bad when I am standing for too long. Do you think this may be a side effect of the Aciphex? Thank you in advance for any insight you could provide.
Avatar n tn Yes. Long term use of PPIs like aciphex causes decreased absorption of vitamin B12 leading to a deficiency in this crucial vitamin. Vitamin B12 deficiency symptoms include numbness and tingling in the hands and feet. Permanent nerve damage will occur if vitamin B12 deficiency has has gone without treatment for a sufficient time. The baking soda test: Mix 1/4 teaspoon of baking soda (sodium bicarbonate, not baking powder) in an 8 ounce glass and drink it.
Avatar n tn My Gastorentologist asked me to continue to take Aciphex. I am not comfortable taking these medications for such a long time and when I stop taking the medication I am getting buring in my stomach which I never had before. Is the any cure for my condition?
Avatar f tn When my sciatica was so bad my doctor gave me prescription strength naproxin (which is Aleve) and because of how hard it is on the stomach gave me Aciphex with it (similar to Prilosec). Good luck!
Avatar n tn I just had this thought and would like to pose this question to you : Prilosec is considered a PPI drug isn't it? Do you happen to know if other drugs in this class carry the same risks as Prilosec does?
Avatar m tn will it take time for the new meds to work? Or could something else be going on to cause this....*by the wayk, i also had an ultra sound of abdominal area - all normal. Also have colonoscopys every three years.....no problem there....
Avatar m tn Welcome to the gastroenterology community! Most likely, stopping the Aciphex was no big deal. It probably didn't cause any negative things to happen to you, but this would be good to ask your doctor about.
Avatar m tn I was given Aciphex to take while taking a prescribed antibiotic 5 years ago. I developed terrible hypersalivation while taking the aciphex. Which, incidentally, stopped when I stopped taking the aciphex. Shortly after taking the aciphex I started experiencing symptoms of GERD. I still have the GERD to this day - some days its worse than others. I connect a straight line between the taking of aciphex and the development of GERD. Is this a reasonable conclusion?
Avatar f tn Huh. This is an interesting dilemma, because Amoxicillin and Aciphex are sometimes used together to treat certain types of recurrent stomach ulcers associated with the H. pylori bacteria in the digestive tract. The irony is, if you have ulcers and take Aciphex alone, the Aciphex could make the symptoms worse. Clearly something changed after taking the antibiotics, and now your ally in heartburn control has become your enemy.
Avatar f tn Hi. I take Prevacid, which is a little pricey, even with insurance. However, there is another one, Aciphex, which was about 30 dollars cheaper. I am back on the Prevacid as the Aciphex didn't work as well ( for me...I was on Prevacid for years and only switched because of the cost...65 dollars). You may want to ask about that. Also, I was told my pharmacist that otc prilosic works well too.
Avatar n tn Well about 8 weeks into the nexium I was getting great pains, I thought my desease was getting worse. I went back to the Dr. and asked to be put back on the aciphex. I beleive those pains were a side effect of the nexium.
2102364 tn?1334181277 Oops wanted to add you to my watch list to hear how all goes for you and I forgot to put a check mark in the box--also apologies for such a lengthy post above--lol
Avatar m tn Oh my gosh, how frightening! I am new to hypothyroidism so I don't know the answer to your question, but since you have lupus, have you run this situation by your rheumie? Are the two docs exchanging info to best get all of this under control? I hope you begin to feel better soon. Good luck!
Avatar m tn I should have said how long will it for the symtoms to begin to go away?
