Clearly something changed after taking the antibiotics, and now your ally in heartburn control has become your enemy. It might be worth getting back to your physician on this one, since antibiotics can often be a "swinging door", killing some bacteria while making it easier for other bacteria to get through that otherwise wouldn't have.

because that week that I had the pain I was taking a lot of Tylenol for dental pain..... I have read online that acetaminophen does not aggrivate ulcers.. but there must be some exceptions.. my mom cannot take Tylenol as it upsets her stomach... she has to take aspirin.. that is backwards for most.. so I will find out tomorrow mostly because maybe takign my AcipHex again will help with that..

i do have a history of ulcers and ibs and barrets esophagus. i do take aciphex and reglan. it happens every night about 2 or 3 in the morning. i feel fine during the day. consulted doctor. he felt that it may be associated with the bronchitis that i had a month ago. finished with antibiotics and no change. phenergan and zofran do not stop it either. please help!!

My husband was originally on Aciphex, but placed on Nexium after our insurance stopped covering aciphex and he was miserable. Aciphex has always worked so much better for him. Finally, after a year of misery he's back on aciphex and so much happier. I hope it works as well for you.

During the course of which I drank a couple of glasses of horseradish juice (for detoxification purposes). This caused severe pain, bloating and diarrhea. Although those symptoms are gone, whenever I eat anything coarse or spicy it causes irritation. This starts a couple of minutes after eating it and continues as the food makes its way through my GI track. The only thing that relieves it is to take a laxative and flush it out of my system.

Which, incidentally, stopped when I stopped taking the aciphex. Shortly after taking the aciphex I started experiencing symptoms of GERD. I still have the GERD to this day - some days its worse than others. I connect a straight line between the taking of aciphex and the development of GERD. Is this a reasonable conclusion? or is there some other more likely explanation?

I made a hugh mistake and stopped use of the PPI(in my case Aciphex) immeidately after taking the last antibiotic for H. Pylori. I am now back on Aciphex and my Water Brash symptoms have diminshed greatly.

Two or three years ago I was diagnosed with GERD via an endoscopy. I was put on Aciphex. I am also a heavy drinker. I have not taken the Aciphex on a regular basis because up until a month or so ago I have not had any symptoms. I am now having difficulty swallowing or at least feel like I have a lump in my throat - the constant clearing of throat, cough. I am now terrified that I have Barretts or cancer.

doctor tried every PPI in the book including nexium, prilosec and protonix to resolve my symptoms but none of these worked effectively. then i was put on aciphex which worked wonders! i was on this medication for about a year with ZERO heartburn and NO side effects so long as i took one pill every morning. then one day i started noticing unusually bad stomach pains. i continued aciphex for about a week until i decided to stop the medication to see if the pains subsided, which they did.

Hi. I take Prevacid, which is a little pricey, even with insurance. However, there is another one, Aciphex, which was about 30 dollars cheaper. I am back on the Prevacid as the Aciphex didn't work as well ( for me...I was on Prevacid for years and only switched because of the cost...65 dollars). You may want to ask about that. Also, I was told my pharmacist that otc prilosic works well too.

I was on aciphex for years because of gerd but was switched to dexilant for gastritis. I have had the belching and gurgling for about 4 months and the upper stomach pain for almost 2 months. i am very regular with my bowel movements (once a day) so i dont see how it could be ibs.

My Gastorentologist asked me to continue to take Aciphex. I am not comfortable taking these medications for such a long time and when I stop taking the medication I am getting buring in my stomach which I never had before. Is the any cure for my condition?

I was on it 2 times a day for 2 months. It didn't do anything for me, either. But then again, I'm not having much luck with any of them. I've now been on Aciphex for 1 month and it hasn't solved the problem yet. It does make you burp more.

I wish gastroenterologist Physicians Assistant had told me what the inflammation was, reason for Aciphex. Nothing I can do now - - I should have ASKED if o.k. to discontinue. I have been belching almost nonstop for nearly two months and also have substernal pain which my doctor has diagnosed as GERD and started me on Aciphex. Unfortunately, the Aciphex does not seem to help at all and I have been taking antacids without much relief either. I have noticed on this forum that an H.pylori test might be indicated and I am going to suggest that to my doctor.

I've taken Aciphex for over 10 years for extreme GERD. Since all the new studues came out about it being so bad long term, I decided to try and get off it. I'm down from 20mg a day to 20mg every 3-4 days. I've weaned over the last 2 months, had horrible rebound and can't get passed this stage. I have bad stomach pains, diarrhea, nausea. I'm supplementing with Tums currently. Any helpful advice is appreciated. I'm ready to give up.

I have been on Aciphex 20 since 2007, with instant results. After changing Health Ins. , I am told by the current insurer that they won't cover Aciphex. I must go thru a step program, starting with Nexium, which my Doctor dosed at 40 mg instead of 20 mg, saying Nexium didn't come in 20 and the 40mg of Nexium is comparable to the 20 mg Aciphex . I have for the past 10 years been on Aciphex 20mg for to much acid in my stomache, I was at 4 times the normal amount but now I have about 7 times to normal amount I have been taking 2 aciphex pills in the am and 1 in the evening. When I had my last scope I also had alot of irritation and alot of stomache polyps. I have latlely been having alot of diarreha about 2 hours after I eat and I'm generally not feeling well.

Pylori(I am now negative for H. Pylori). Also, I have not had heartburn for over two months. I have suffered from Hypersalivation for about three months. I went to a ENT today and he did a VideoStroboscope on my throat. He feels my saliva is rather bubbly and the cause is possibly related to acid reflux. He recommended I go back on Aciphex or another PPI and to take Benadryl. This seems to make sense.

I have been vomiting on and off for 6 months. For a while, It was happening daily. I saw a GI doctor who did an Endoscopy and didn't see anything. had mylanta and prilosec and the situation got improved.. doctor recommended aciphex and currently i am on that.. situation seems to get better but at times, the condition that I have something stuck in throat and a little difficulty to swallow flares up. If you stay on a daily PPI (Prilosec, Prevacid, Aciphex) for a few weeks you should feel a whole lot better. Yes, go to the doc, but don't panic. And cut out the highly acidic foods and vitamin C for a while. Try apples, even a few slices. It can help.
