Aciphex for reflux

Common Questions and Answers about Aciphex for reflux

aciphex

Avatar n tn There is a condition related to acid reflux called water brash. I'm not sure if that's what you're describing but it might be described as 'hypersalivation.' As far as your stopping the Aciphex, just because you're now negative for H. pylori doesn't mean your acid reflux is gone. You may need to continue with some medication and diet change for quite awhile to try to make sure that you're actually okay, and just not 'not feeling heartburn.
Avatar f tn I have been taking Aciphex for a couple years with good results. However I recently had a sinus infection and took Amoxicillin for 7 days. Here it is, 2 weeks after stopping the Amoxicillin, I am having severe heartburn again. Did the antibiotic have anything to do with this?
Avatar f tn Hi. I take Prevacid, which is a little pricey, even with insurance. However, there is another one, Aciphex, which was about 30 dollars cheaper. I am back on the Prevacid as the Aciphex didn't work as well ( for me...I was on Prevacid for years and only switched because of the cost...65 dollars). You may want to ask about that. Also, I was told my pharmacist that otc prilosic works well too.
Avatar f tn My husband was originally on Aciphex, but placed on Nexium after our insurance stopped covering aciphex and he was miserable. Aciphex has always worked so much better for him. Finally, after a year of misery he's back on aciphex and so much happier. I hope it works as well for you.
198506 tn?1251156915 I was diagnosed with silent reflux on 2/6/08 and prescribed Aciphex. The ENT diagnosed the reflux through an endoscopy I think it's called...he threaded a fiber optic camera through my nostril and down my throat. He said my throat was swollen and red and that I had vocal cord nodules. I had no symptoms of GERD and went to the ENT because I had a near constant feeling of throat contriction. A previous Barrium swallow showed no GERD.
Avatar m tn they must be taken on an empty stomach (1 hour before or 2 hours after) or up to 60% of the drug is destroyed. The only two that can be taken with food are Aciphex and Dexalant but neither will be OTC for a couple of years. Hope this helps.
Avatar m tn I wish gastroenterologist Physicians Assistant had told me what the inflammation was, reason for Aciphex. Nothing I can do now - - I should have ASKED if o.k. to discontinue. Can you give me facts about what I have done with discontinuing. I am truly scared. appointment for endoscopy Aug. 6th, consult on July 23rd. thank you.
Avatar n tn 5yrs later) and the hand tremor is minimal but my eyelids are going nuts. I am assuming its the drugs for reflux (I am having surgery for that soon). Does anyone know of anything else that would be causing this? I pray that once I'm off the meds for good, the tic will eventually go away.........I hope........
Avatar f tn Feeling like you have a lump in your throat is very common with acid reflux. If you've only noticed symptoms for a month I doubt this has progressed to Barretts.... much less cancer. My husband suffers terribly with symptoms like you describe and he recently had an endoscopy and nothing was found. Avoid spicy foods and keep your head elevated at night to help prevent the acid from flowing into your throat. Try not to worry and take your medication until you see your GI doc.
Avatar m tn He said i could have acid reflux which causes dry cough and sometimes hard to breath. I currently take Aciphex for that and it works but still have bad dry cough. Could it be possibly cough variant asthma?
Avatar n tn So far I have tried Prevacid, Aciphex, Prilosec,Protonix, and Nexium. Aciphex gave me bad side effects and Nexium made my reflux symptoms worse. Prilosec did absolutely nothing for me. I was successfully treated for H. Pylori in Nov 07. Since then I have been suffering from Water Brash and now heartburn. I don't know where to turn. My GI now wants me to take Zegerid(isn't this med just like Prilosec with sodium?). Any input will be greatly appreciated.
Avatar f tn I have acid reflux for over 8 years now and I have tried almost every medicine,OTC or prescription except yours and protonix. Now I dont take anything, these medicatin just makes it worse, not better. I was home visiting my folks in Asia and we ate every night at 7 pm,traditional Chinese meal starting with soup which is usually some neckbones, carrots and corn on the cob.then veggies with meat and fish etc/ since my parents are elderly, everything is cooked well. afterwards we will have fruits.
Avatar f tn Both said they did not believe there was a correlation to the hearburn and resection. The GI doctor put me on Aciphex for 6 days which did not work and put me on Nexium 40 mg twice daily yesterday which does not seem to be working either as I have to take rolaids about 5 hours after taking the Nexium. Can you tell me: 1. Have you ever heard of hearburn/GERD starting after a bowel resection 2.
193988 tn?1215023883 ve got to go for the big guns in the form of PPIs (proton pump inhibitors) like aciphex, nexium, protonix, etc., and since they're prescription meds, you have to see a doctor.
Avatar m tn A few weeks ago I was diagnosed by my doctor as having acid reflux. She recommended 20mg of Losec daily for one month and then to attempt to taper off the medication by taking it every other day when I started to feel better (she recommended trying after 1 month). After a week on the medication I felt great, had no symptoms and decided to taper off. The first day off was fine, but the next day was terrible and my reflux returned.
Avatar n tn My husband is taking Aciphex for reflux, yet he continues to have stomach pain, not hearburn. He has recently had an upper GI and nothing was found. Nothing he takes orally helps the pain. What should he do if the specialist can't find his problem.
Avatar f tn a proton-pump inhibitor (Aciphex) and a histamine-2 blocker (Zantac).
1744042 tn?1311261168 Many of us who have thyroid issues have or had GERD or acid reflux. I was on Aciphex, which is one of the stronger acid reducers and at times, that didn't even touch the reflux; my insurance quit paying for Aciphex and I was forced to go to omerprozole; I'd have to take 3-4 times the recommended dosage before it made any difference at all. Once I was dx'd hypo/Hashi and began getting my thyroid levels stabilized, the acid reflux went away.
Avatar f tn felt fine the first two weeks and ate everything i wanted. then problems started and dctr said it was acid reflux. put me on priolosac and gained 4 lbs. the first week (on a low fat diet and eating nothing practically) Then tried without it on apple vinegar pills and beano before meals. had some relief but not all the time. monday he put me on aciphex and i had severe headaches and sweating, but it cleared up acid reflux right away. Was wondering if i could try Zantac.
Avatar m tn While at UAB they discovered I had HCV. I have been on acid reflux medication for over ten years--- Prylosec, Aciphex, Nexium at different times. All work well, preference was dictated by my HMO. This will be a life long treatment for me. In July 2008 I had a follow up endoscopy and got a clean bill of health---no Barrett’s--no cancer. I am HCV 1a, tested virus free at week four. Tomorrow I take my 53rd shot and one week from that my last (Yeah Baby).
Avatar n tn Now on zoloft and aciphex for Gerd. It has helped alot (the aciphex) but I still get those pains and when I do it just sends me over the edge. Dr says my lungs are clear.
Avatar f tn I had something similiar when i was really stressed out , they did a whole bunch of tests on me , i had heartburn , and felt like i constantly had to swallow and felt nauseated for months , they did an upper gi to see if i had an ulcer and i went on aciphex , a medicine for reflux . I would go to the dr. and see what kind of testing they can do .
Avatar f tn I've taken Aciphex for over 10 years for extreme GERD. Since all the new studues came out about it being so bad long term, I decided to try and get off it. I'm down from 20mg a day to 20mg every 3-4 days. I've weaned over the last 2 months, had horrible rebound and can't get passed this stage. I have bad stomach pains, diarrhea, nausea. I'm supplementing with Tums currently. Any helpful advice is appreciated. I'm ready to give up.
296025 tn?1233256719 Prevacid is a Protein Pump Inhibitor (PPI) like Aciphex, Nexium and Prilosec. It's indicated for GERD (chronic acid reflux) and as far as I know has nothing to do with treating Hep C, other than if you happen to have GERD. I believe Prilosec is a generic sold OTC but not 100% sure so speak to your doctor and pharmacist regarding switching off.
711902 tn?1229431139 My dermatologist thinks that is is due to prolonged use of Nexium. So if I can no longer take Nexium for acid reflux what can I take? Thanks.
Avatar f tn he scheduled an endoscopy for monday.. i think its acid reflux?....a week ago my doctor up here prescribed omeprazole for it...she said it sounded like acid reflux..that i may have scare tissue....i will say before tx i had some trouble swallowing had to have the heimlich maneuver twice before tx... never really found out why...then during tx i was ofter having trouble...my swallowing process was backwards....sometimes down sometimes up...
Avatar n tn Hello. I was diagnosed with GERD several months ago, and lived with almost daily pain (no meds were really working) until about 2 months ago, when I started Nexium. I was blissfully almost with any symptoms for about 6 weeks, even if I ate common reflux triggers, but now I'm experiencing pain again. Can Nexium just stop working like that? I should add that my diagnosis came after basic blood tests, an endoscopy, an ultrasound to check my gallbladder and a CT scan of my abdomen.
Avatar n tn I'm taking omeprazole for acid reflux's. Is there a similar medicine that does not carry the dizziness label. My acid reflux's is low.
