aciphex

Avatar m tn If a patient reported symptoms you are describing I would consider the diagnosis of laryngopharyngeal reflux (LPR). It is not uncommon for patients with GERD to also have LPR. An ENT physican or speech pathologist can perform rhinolaryngoscopy (similar to an endoscopy, but fiber optic camera evaluates nose, throat. Patients with LPT may have vocal cord edema (swelling) and other characteristic changes.
Avatar n tn In late 2007, I started experiencing severe issues with what I thought was post nasal drip. It was hard for me to swallow, I felt like I had lots mucus in my throat (on the occasion I could cough it up, it was green), and my saliva was really thick. I started taking allergy meds, & I went to an ENT, had my deviated septum straightened, and was still experiencing issues. Well, in April 08, I started experiencing some stomach issues.
Avatar f tn My husband was originally on Aciphex, but placed on Nexium after our insurance stopped covering aciphex and he was miserable. Aciphex has always worked so much better for him. Finally, after a year of misery he's back on aciphex and so much happier. I hope it works as well for you.
276730 tn?1327962946 You might want to get your throat checked out by a good ENT doctor to rule out bacterial infection and/or Laryngopharyngeal Reflux (LPR) I had LPR for much of treatment and in the beginning it was so bad I could hardly swallow. PPI's like Nexium are often prescribed if that's the case.
Avatar m tn Which, incidentally, stopped when I stopped taking the aciphex. Shortly after taking the aciphex I started experiencing symptoms of GERD. I still have the GERD to this day - some days its worse than others. I connect a straight line between the taking of aciphex and the development of GERD. Is this a reasonable conclusion? or is there some other more likely explanation?
Avatar f tn Two or three years ago I was diagnosed with GERD via an endoscopy. I was put on Aciphex. I am also a heavy drinker. I have not taken the Aciphex on a regular basis because up until a month or so ago I have not had any symptoms. I am now having difficulty swallowing or at least feel like I have a lump in my throat - the constant clearing of throat, cough. I am now terrified that I have Barretts or cancer.
Avatar f tn I have been taking Aciphex for a couple years with good results. However I recently had a sinus infection and took Amoxicillin for 7 days. Here it is, 2 weeks after stopping the Amoxicillin, I am having severe heartburn again. Did the antibiotic have anything to do with this?
Avatar m tn I am suffering from laryngiopharyngeal reflux (LPR) disease for 4 months. I can't face hiv test and it gives me lot of anxiety. I had Mono like illness 5 weeks after sexual exposure. I am going to try and test though I just have a quick question about my symptom timeline and if this illness Iv been diagnosed with. Is silent reflux a sign and symptom of HIV? I red this http://www.medhelp.
Avatar n tn My mother suffered severely from Gastric Esophageal Reflux Disease (GERD) and Laryngopharyngeal Reflux (LPR) for 5 years, gastritis for 25 years (worsened on nexium) and polyps (unknown time); polyps cut out. Was on and off tagament for 20 years; nexium for 5 years. Side effects were numerous and life threatening. The drugs were not working well and eventually not at all.
Avatar f tn I have GERD and LPR for almost 2 months or maybe more than that and I was really curious when will these stop. Im scared that there will be a time that I won't be able to speak anymore. I was also taking medications that lessen the symptoms in short amount of time then they will go back again. I've always thought that I would be experiencing the process all over again. I hope you can give me any advices or tips to help me completely prevent my illness.
Avatar f tn Hi. I take Prevacid, which is a little pricey, even with insurance. However, there is another one, Aciphex, which was about 30 dollars cheaper. I am back on the Prevacid as the Aciphex didn't work as well ( for me...I was on Prevacid for years and only switched because of the cost...65 dollars). You may want to ask about that. Also, I was told my pharmacist that otc prilosic works well too.
Avatar n tn My Gastorentologist asked me to continue to take Aciphex. I am not comfortable taking these medications for such a long time and when I stop taking the medication I am getting buring in my stomach which I never had before. Is the any cure for my condition?
Avatar n tn I was on it 2 times a day for 2 months. It didn't do anything for me, either. But then again, I'm not having much luck with any of them. I've now been on Aciphex for 1 month and it hasn't solved the problem yet. It does make you burp more.
Avatar m tn I've been suffering with LPR for a year and a half and I'm TIRED of it. I NEED my voice back so I can sing again. I have stress and anxiety problems and I feel like it's not just something that makes LPR get worse but perhaps it is the culprit! Do all of you LPR sufferers have stress/anxiety problems? I think it has something to do with the short breaths making the diaphragm tense plus all of the other tension and also indigestion all combined from stress/anxiety.
Avatar f tn Hi Guys I have significant LPR reflux after taking a long course of Antibiotics for my Prostate problems. I have a lot of swelling sensation/feeling in my throat and stiffness in my neck, is this normal? I also had mild oral thrush and the ENT doc Harley street London says it’s quite common to come together but I dunno, the thrush has subsided a bit but he gave me Omeprazole but it messed up my stomach, so I stopped after a month, is LPR a chronic condition?
198506 tn?1251156915 Do you think this may be a side effect of the Aciphex? Thank you in advance for any insight you could provide.
Avatar m tn I wish gastroenterologist Physicians Assistant had told me what the inflammation was, reason for Aciphex. Nothing I can do now - - I should have ASKED if o.k. to discontinue. Can you give me facts about what I have done with discontinuing. I am truly scared. appointment for endoscopy Aug. 6th, consult on July 23rd. thank you.
Avatar f tn Thank you for responding. I was just diagnosed yesterday with LPR by a swallowing disorders ent specialist. I have to undergo a ph test to determine breakthrough reflux while being on 40mg of protonix for the last few months. Truthfully, what can I expect to experience? And any tips or suggestions on how to deal with this diagnosis? Thanks again!
Avatar f tn I have been belching almost nonstop for nearly two months and also have substernal pain which my doctor has diagnosed as GERD and started me on Aciphex. Unfortunately, the Aciphex does not seem to help at all and I have been taking antacids without much relief either. I have noticed on this forum that an H.pylori test might be indicated and I am going to suggest that to my doctor.
Avatar f tn Hello, I am a 29 yo female, light smoker (5-7 cigarettes a day), VERY social drinker (maybe 1-2 drinks a month), 148 lbs and 5'4. I gave birth to my son August 2006. During my pregnancy I started experiencing severe chest pain (like I was being stabbed in my chest) and I was told it was heartburn. After I delivered him (via c-section) I still had the chest pain and I then developed abdominal tenderness in my LUQ and RUQ. I was told this was related to the pregnancy and c-section.
Avatar f tn I've taken Aciphex for over 10 years for extreme GERD. Since all the new studues came out about it being so bad long term, I decided to try and get off it. I'm down from 20mg a day to 20mg every 3-4 days. I've weaned over the last 2 months, had horrible rebound and can't get passed this stage. I have bad stomach pains, diarrhea, nausea. I'm supplementing with Tums currently. Any helpful advice is appreciated. I'm ready to give up.
Avatar n tn I have been on Aciphex 20 since 2007, with instant results. After changing Health Ins. , I am told by the current insurer that they won't cover Aciphex. I must go thru a step program, starting with Nexium, which my Doctor dosed at 40 mg instead of 20 mg, saying Nexium didn't come in 20 and the 40mg of Nexium is comparable to the 20 mg Aciphex . Questions: (1) Is the above true? (2) Are the side effects the same, and (3) What's the difference between the two.
Avatar m tn I wanted to share my LPR story, and hopefully begin a fresh thread for LPR sufferers. I have seen 100s of posts on regarding LPR, but found none by people that have actually cured their symptoms. If you are out there, please post replies - these are important for moral and confidence building. June, 2013 Here’s my story. My symptoms started all of a sudden - I choked on a bit of water, and when I coughed it off I tried to burp and realized I couldn't.
Avatar f tn The good news is you can get rid of LPR. My mother had severe LPR and severe GERD for 5 years. Now she suffers neither. By stopping all acid blockers and taking digestive enzyme supplements (helps digest proteins, carbohydrates and fats) and betaine HCI with pepsin supplements (helps with stomach acid production), both conditions were gone within a few weeks. The extra bonus was that her gastritis is almost gone after a year and a half on these supplements.
Avatar m tn Several times these past two years I've woken up gasping for air. I felt like I was about to suffocate. Eventually, I was able to breathe a bit more and more, and to cough away the phlegm in my airway. I went to an ENT dr who said this was a GERD issue, Acid Reflux. I've been taking medication for that and it may have helped, but I did get another attack today. I've also had a diagnonsis, today, of Bronchitis. I've had the phlegm for around a week now and another ENT dr.
