Aciphex for heartburn

Common Questions and Answers about Aciphex for heartburn

aciphex

Avatar f tn I have been taking Aciphex for a couple years with good results. However I recently had a sinus infection and took Amoxicillin for 7 days. Here it is, 2 weeks after stopping the Amoxicillin, I am having severe heartburn again. Did the antibiotic have anything to do with this?
Avatar n tn Pylori(I am now negative for H. Pylori). Also, I have not had heartburn for over two months. I have suffered from Hypersalivation for about three months. I went to a ENT today and he did a VideoStroboscope on my throat. He feels my saliva is rather bubbly and the cause is possibly related to acid reflux. He recommended I go back on Aciphex or another PPI and to take Benadryl. This seems to make sense.
Avatar n tn I was on it 2 times a day for 2 months. It didn't do anything for me, either. But then again, I'm not having much luck with any of them. I've now been on Aciphex for 1 month and it hasn't solved the problem yet. It does make you burp more.
Avatar n tn of course, I immediately quit after the heartburn came back. I took the Aciphex again for about 9 days until I went to an appointment with a specialist, but the symptoms did not go away during that time, as I felt a mix of heartburn and esophagus pain. He ordered an endoscopy and I continued with a stronger prescription (one Nexium pill and one Zantac pill per day) until the endoscopy appointment 19 days later, but I was not sticking to the medication everyday.
428886 tn?1217682034 I have not been one to have heartburn, so I thought I was having a heartattack. I was put on Aciphex. It has worked.
Avatar f tn Both said they did not believe there was a correlation to the hearburn and resection. The GI doctor put me on Aciphex for 6 days which did not work and put me on Nexium 40 mg twice daily yesterday which does not seem to be working either as I have to take rolaids about 5 hours after taking the Nexium. Can you tell me: 1. Have you ever heard of hearburn/GERD starting after a bowel resection 2.
193988 tn?1215023883 ve got to go for the big guns in the form of PPIs (proton pump inhibitors) like aciphex, nexium, protonix, etc., and since they're prescription meds, you have to see a doctor.
Avatar f tn I had something similiar when i was really stressed out , they did a whole bunch of tests on me , i had heartburn , and felt like i constantly had to swallow and felt nauseated for months , they did an upper gi to see if i had an ulcer and i went on aciphex , a medicine for reflux . I would go to the dr. and see what kind of testing they can do .
1289966 tn?1326101570 You can message me if you like.As for heartburn as far as I know there can be many reasons behind reflux, thats something you should notify your consultant about. Have you had any blood work, biopsy/fibroscan readings from the hospital ?
Avatar f tn Not all foods that r on a list and considered safe for those of us with GERD will be safe for all of us. We all have to try foods and find what our triggers r...the lists of safe foods r to help guide us. Also I am surprise u eat yogurt...it tends to slow down the LES as it is a dairy product. What is ur green drink?
Avatar f tn It started with heartburn about a year ago . The heartburn got frequent and severe enough to seek medical attention . They put me on aciphex and did a gastoscopy , finding just an irritated stomach lining . Ever since then I have had nothing but tons of epigastric pain and into my back . They switched me to protonix 40mg twice a day but I have minimal relief . Also had my gallbladder removed about 4 yrs ago . Any ideas ? Please Help !!!
119341 tn?1232563757 You don't have to wait 4 hours for everything. Because heartburn medications alter the amount of gastric acid it also alters how other medications can be absorbed. I've been told that pain relievers are okay to take after an hour but that Tylenol is much better than Advil. Something about Advil and asprin being blood thinners and how the thyroid med is absorbed...not entirely sure on that one. I also have to wait at least four hours before taking my iron supplement.
Avatar n tn ve tried so many remedies for heartburn (including Aciphex, Nexium, Zantac, Betaine HCL, baking soda, Pepto Bismol) that don't work. I'm curious if it isn't heartburn at all. Are there any other diseases/conditions that can cause extreme burning/gripping/tight sensations in that area? Thanks a lot in advance for any responses.
Avatar m tn I cannot live like this. I am very tired....I take advil, aspirin and tylenol for the head pain. I am on Plavix for my heart.
545538 tn?1295992017 I've been taking Protonix for years and haven't had heartburn for years. It's available in generic form now. It seems to be the drug of choice for the many MDs I've encountered. Nexium is the same type of drug but far more expensive, the same with Acifex.
Avatar m tn I wish I could help you but I'm wondering about the same thing. I've been having problems since last summer (nausea, burping, RUQ pressure, burning, aching, at times, irregular bowel habits.). First they said I had GERD (confirmed with 48 hr. Bravo pH). I never felt any heartburn. I've been on double dose of PPI's (first Zegerid, now Aciphex) - they haven't done anything for me. Now they think it's my gall bladder, which I thought all along.
Avatar f tn ve had chest pain, difficulty breathing, incredible stomach bloating/distention (even after just drinking a glass of water), burping, reflux, and heartburn. My main concern is the bloating and difficulty breathing. I can barely function on a day to day basis. I eat little bites all day long because I can't eat a full meal or I start hyperventilating. I have had an EGD which showed a polyp (was removed) and some mild esophagitis. I don't have H.
Avatar m tn Thanks for the response, hopefully I can get a upper GI next week, going Thursday for gi consult. Prilosec definitely killed my heartburn, but I still have pain, which, if I'm correct, is a sign it could be an ulcer. I have cut out bad foods, just think they were the causative agent.
Avatar f tn My husband was originally on Aciphex, but placed on Nexium after our insurance stopped covering aciphex and he was miserable. Aciphex has always worked so much better for him. Finally, after a year of misery he's back on aciphex and so much happier. I hope it works as well for you.
2121656 tn?1395674749 I started taking 25 mgs. of synthroid on Sept. 4th, and right away I've had relieve from a lot of my symptoms, including indigestion & heartburn. Probably is the placebo effect. Either way I'm still symptom free except for the heartburn, that's actually worse than before taking synthroid. I am having it all day. Therefore, I'm not sure if the synthroid is the cause or if it may be caused from me drinking my morning coffee without taking the protonix.
Avatar f tn I was diagnosed with GERD because I have heartburn and I often regurgitate. However, for the past month I have felt like something is stuck in my throat and I am getting nausea every single night. It is so incredibly frustrating. I'm good for most of the day, and then 6-7pm hits and I get nausea. I have to lay down. The only thing that helps is going to sleep. I am on Nexium and it has done nothing. I still feel the same. Doc just told me to try Prilosec OTC so I started that today.
Avatar m tn Which, incidentally, stopped when I stopped taking the aciphex. Shortly after taking the aciphex I started experiencing symptoms of GERD. I still have the GERD to this day - some days its worse than others. I connect a straight line between the taking of aciphex and the development of GERD. Is this a reasonable conclusion? or is there some other more likely explanation?
Avatar m tn I have had this ongoing sensation of wanting to cough combined with an irritative feeling in my throat for about four months. Occasionally the irritated feeling locates below my throat in my windpipe, with some discomfort. Feelings vary in intensity day to day from very mild to rather strong. I do not have any problems with my breathing, or any pain or heartburn, but get occasional "queezy" feelings in my stomach that last for 15-20 minutes.
Avatar f tn have found out that I have Gastritis, which I am currently taking Aciphex for treatment. Seems The Aciphex has helped w/ the heartburn and related symtoms. Except this RIB Pain is Constant and have had 2 horrible attacks where I thought my Ribcage on R/side was going to crack. I Lay on the heating pad for about 45 minutes and it subsides or until I can get in a comfortable position. But yet I still experience sharp stabbing pains and sometimes I feel a fluttering right below the ribcage.
Avatar f tn Two or three years ago I was diagnosed with GERD via an endoscopy. I was put on Aciphex. I am also a heavy drinker. I have not taken the Aciphex on a regular basis because up until a month or so ago I have not had any symptoms. I am now having difficulty swallowing or at least feel like I have a lump in my throat - the constant clearing of throat, cough. I am now terrified that I have Barretts or cancer.
Avatar f tn I'm a 42 year old female. Fairly healthy. I've been diagnosed with GERD since 2002. I had it under control with low-dose PPI's, diet changes and lifestyle changes until 2006. For the next couple years, I was diligent about my diet, lifestyle changes and taking my prescriptions which included taking high-dose PPI's twice a day (Prevacid Solutabs, Nexium, Protonix, Prevacid, Zegrid, Kapidex, Aciphex, etc....) and supplemented with Gaviscon or Zantac.
Avatar f tn I am a 48 year old woman who was diagnosed with GERD two or three years ago via endoscopy. I was placed on Aciphex. I have not been good about following directions for acid reflux (I am a heavy coffee drinker and beer drinker) and have not religiously taken the medication. About a month ago I begin having the lump in my throat back (that's what made me go to doc in first place) and difficulty swallowing.
Avatar n tn I had Nissan Fundoplication Surgery to take care of my severe GERD. This was done in December of 2007. It worked for a while, about 6 months, and now does not work at all. I have been prescribed 2 Aciphex and 2 Zantac tablets a day. This is more medication than what I was taking before the surgery. Has anyone had a similiar experience with this surgery? Does anyone know any other solutions to this problem? I would like to add that I have had my gall bladder removed.
