You must follow the directions on the prescription or the OTC package. I don't know that medication, but you must follow the directions on the package or the directions your doctor gave you. If he said to just take it but didn't say anything more and this is OTC, follow the directions on the package. If he had other directions, call his office and get clarification of the directions over the phone.
I've taken Aciphex for over 10 years for extreme GERD. Since all the new studues came out about it being so bad long term, I decided to try and get off it. I'm down from 20mg a day to 20mg every 3-4 days. I've weaned over the last 2 months, had horrible rebound and can't get passed this stage. I have bad stomach pains, diarrhea, nausea. I'm supplementing with Tums currently.
Any helpful advice is appreciated. I'm ready to give up.
I have for the past 10 years been on Aciphex 20mg for to much acid in my stomache, I was at 4 times the normal amount but now I have about 7 times to normal amount I have been taking 2 aciphex pills in the am and 1 in the evening. When I had my last scope I also had alot of irritation and alot of stomache polyps. I have latlely been having alot of diarreha about 2 hours after I eat and I'm generally not feeling well.
However, there is another one, Aciphex, which was about 30 dollars cheaper. I am back on the Prevacid as the Aciphex didn't work as well ( for me...I was on Prevacid for years and only switched because of the cost...65 dollars). You may want to ask about that. Also, I was told my pharmacist that otc prilosic works well too.
Hi. Thanks for the response. I am taking Prilosec 20mg 2x a day as my doctor thought it was GERD. The Acid Reflux has nearly completely gone away but the nausea is still there after I eat and at night.

I took Nexium 20mg for 11 days and had to stop because of its severe side effects. Then I took Protonix 20mg for 13 days and had to stop because of severe burning in my mouth, chest and tongue. I tried taking Riopan and Gaviscon in December and January without success because they caused a nausea and a burning tongue. Then I had one pill of Zantac 75mg and I suffered hard from abdominal cramps for one day and a burning tongue for 7! Etc..etc...
Which, incidentally, stopped when I stopped taking the aciphex. Shortly after taking the aciphex I started experiencing symptoms of GERD. I still have the GERD to this day - some days its worse than others. I connect a straight line between the taking of aciphex and the development of GERD. Is this a reasonable conclusion? or is there some other more likely explanation?
The biopsy is still pending. The specialist treated me with two pills of 20mg Aciphex per day; 4 pills of 10mg Motilium (Domperidone base) per day; and two pills of Duspatalin.
He told me after two weeks will be the follow-up. Now, while I feel almost no heartburn from these meds, I cannot eat except for very small portions until I’m quickly getting full. I also still feel some light spasm/lump feeling along my esophagus and pain at the lower end of it.
While there isn't any concrete evidence that EC is hereditary, there is some speculation that a predisposition to Barret's might have a hereditary component. (It is also believed by some that while not everyone who gets Barrett's gets EC, everyone who gets EC had Barrett's.) As Ayri said, for peace of mind, having an EGD every two or three years is a prudent move. Also, following a GERD diet would be a very good idea.

Clearly something changed after taking the antibiotics, and now your ally in heartburn control has become your enemy. It might be worth getting back to your physician on this one, since antibiotics can often be a "swinging door", killing some bacteria while making it easier for other bacteria to get through that otherwise wouldn't have.
It means you had discharge. White discharge is common in women pregnant or not, and the amount will vary depending on the female and where she is in her cycle. In regards to your other question, it can feel like your cycle will start but it doesn't mean it will. Watch and see what happens and if it does, more than likely it is due to the EC. Overall, you're still looking way too much into this. Most of all these are just everyday usual bodily functions.
I am unsure if I may be pregnant, I had sex and contraception failed, so got emergency contraception within 14 hours. I had a short period 5 days after taking EC (therefor 3 weeks early) and my next period is now due and I have only had brown discharge and slight bleeding. However, I had the contraceptive implant fitted 6 days after taking the EC (7 days after sex) and am unsure whether the irregular periods are due to that or to the fact I may be pregnant.
Since then I am taking Acid suppressants such as Nexium and Aciphex as prescribed by my doctor. I also underwent Endoscopy and Biopsy, Abdominal Ultrasound, X-Ray and Blood test . All the tests came normal except they found H-Pilory infection and I took antibiotics and subsequent Stool test for H-Pilory showed negative. I am still having all the above discomforts which is going on for 5 months. I normally eat very healthy and I am following a strict diet since this problem started.
I had sex a day after my period ended. I took EC a day after sex but was 30 mins late to take the other.
I only had unprotected sex because I heard of that day being my safe day.
Has anyone tried Zegerid? So far I have tried Prevacid, Aciphex, Prilosec,Protonix, and Nexium. Aciphex gave me bad side effects and Nexium made my reflux symptoms worse. Prilosec did absolutely nothing for me.
I was successfully treated for H. Pylori in Nov 07. Since then I have been suffering from Water Brash and now heartburn. I don't know where to turn. My GI now wants me to take Zegerid(isn't this med just like Prilosec with sodium?).
Ah--didn't know you had multiple posts. It's possible that your cycle will be delayed. EC is only meant to be taken a max of 2x a year due to the high level of hormones it has in it. Because you used it twice in such a short amount of time, it causes your body to go crazy. You could skip your cycle completely, it could be early or it could be late.
You only waited 8 days after sex to test, which doesn't provide enough time to show an accurate answer.
Just wondering if one could still be pregnant even though a period has come? I want to know if taking the EC twice in a week affects a period if pregnant. My understanding is if I was pregnant, my period would not have come at all after takin EC, no matter how many times. Is this correct?
told no I am not fine, one area no concern, other area metaplasia, was I still taking the Aciphex. I have gone back on the Aciphex but am terrified after reading on websites that I did the wrong thing. Endoscopy only done originally because I had still unexplained/diagnosis following three days of diarrhea, cramping, dehydration. On antibiotiic, H pylori ruled out. History of GERD, hiatal hernia. Control symptoms with diet, OTC Gaviscon.
