My husband was originally on Aciphex, but placed on Nexium after our insurance stopped covering aciphex and he was miserable. Aciphex has always worked so much better for him. Finally, after a year of misery he's back on aciphex and so much happier. I hope it works as well for you.

Which, incidentally, stopped when I stopped taking the aciphex. Shortly after taking the aciphex I started experiencing symptoms of GERD. I still have the GERD to this day - some days its worse than others. I connect a straight line between the taking of aciphex and the development of GERD. Is this a reasonable conclusion? or is there some other more likely explanation?

While there isn't any concrete evidence that EC is hereditary, there is some speculation that a predisposition to Barret's might have a hereditary component. (It is also believed by some that while not everyone who gets Barrett's gets EC, everyone who gets EC had Barrett's.) As Ayri said, for peace of mind, having an EGD every two or three years is a prudent move. Also, following a GERD diet would be a very good idea.

It means you had discharge. White discharge is common in women pregnant or not, and the amount will vary depending on the female and where she is in her cycle. In regards to your other question, it can feel like your cycle will start but it doesn't mean it will. Watch and see what happens and if it does, more than likely it is due to the EC. Overall, you're still looking way too much into this. Most of all these are just everyday usual bodily functions.

I am unsure if I may be pregnant, I had sex and contraception failed, so got emergency contraception within 14 hours. I had a short period 5 days after taking EC (therefor 3 weeks early) and my next period is now due and I have only had brown discharge and slight bleeding. However, I had the contraceptive implant fitted 6 days after taking the EC (7 days after sex) and am unsure whether the irregular periods are due to that or to the fact I may be pregnant.

Since then I am taking Acid suppressants such as Nexium and Aciphex as prescribed by my doctor. I also underwent Endoscopy and Biopsy, Abdominal Ultrasound, X-Ray and Blood test . All the tests came normal except they found H-Pilory infection and I took antibiotics and subsequent Stool test for H-Pilory showed negative. Has anyone tried Zegerid? So far I have tried Prevacid, Aciphex, Prilosec,Protonix, and Nexium. Aciphex gave me bad side effects and Nexium made my reflux symptoms worse. Prilosec did absolutely nothing for me. I was successfully treated for H. Pylori in Nov 07. Since then I have been suffering from Water Brash and now heartburn. I don't know where to turn. My GI now wants me to take Zegerid(isn't this med just like Prilosec with sodium?).

I am a regular user of the ovral L birth control pill but was on a break for teh last 3-4 months to give my body a rest. Since then I was used the EC about four times. I used it in February twice in teh same cycle. The name is Ipill with the levonorgestrel hormone. I used it once mid cycle after my period last month and got pregnant. I really want to know if teh hormone can cause any potential harm to the baby. I am in a fix and would really appreciate some advice....

I was diagnosed with silent reflux on 2/6/08 and prescribed Aciphex. The ENT diagnosed the reflux through an endoscopy I think it's called...he threaded a fiber optic camera through my nostril and down my throat. He said my throat was swollen and red and that I had vocal cord nodules. I had no symptoms of GERD and went to the ENT because I had a near constant feeling of throat contriction. A previous Barrium swallow showed no GERD.

Ah--didn't know you had multiple posts. It's possible that your cycle will be delayed. EC is only meant to be taken a max of 2x a year due to the high level of hormones it has in it. Because you used it twice in such a short amount of time, it causes your body to go crazy. You could skip your cycle completely, it could be early or it could be late. You only waited 8 days after sex to test, which doesn't provide enough time to show an accurate answer.

Just wondering if one could still be pregnant even though a period has come? I want to know if taking the EC twice in a week affects a period if pregnant. My understanding is if I was pregnant, my period would not have come at all after takin EC, no matter how many times. Is this correct?

told no I am not fine, one area no concern, other area metaplasia, was I still taking the Aciphex. I have gone back on the Aciphex but am terrified after reading on websites that I did the wrong thing. Endoscopy only done originally because I had still unexplained/diagnosis following three days of diarrhea, cramping, dehydration. On antibiotiic, H pylori ruled out. History of GERD, hiatal hernia. Control symptoms with diet, OTC Gaviscon.

I have been on Aciphex 20 since 2007, with instant results. After changing Health Ins. , I am told by the current insurer that they won't cover Aciphex. I must go thru a step program, starting with Nexium, which my Doctor dosed at 40 mg instead of 20 mg, saying Nexium didn't come in 20 and the 40mg of Nexium is comparable to the 20 mg Aciphex . Questions: (1) Is the above true? (2) Are the side effects the same, and (3) What's the difference between the two.

I've taken Aciphex for over 10 years for extreme GERD. Since all the new studues came out about it being so bad long term, I decided to try and get off it. I'm down from 20mg a day to 20mg every 3-4 days. I've weaned over the last 2 months, had horrible rebound and can't get passed this stage. I have bad stomach pains, diarrhea, nausea. I'm supplementing with Tums currently. Any helpful advice is appreciated. I'm ready to give up.

Hi all, I took EC postinor 2 after protected intercourse about 40 hrs later but was worried about pre *** getting onto the condom with his hands (condom had problem sliding down but it finally did) before we had intercourse. My LMP was on 14 th oct. did it on 20th oct. took EC On 22nd afternoon 3 ish. Yesterday before sleeping I was bleeding bright red. Realise this after using my vibrator but I don't think it's cause by the vibrator as ive used it tons and never bled before.

I have for the past 10 years been on Aciphex 20mg for to much acid in my stomache, I was at 4 times the normal amount but now I have about 7 times to normal amount I have been taking 2 aciphex pills in the am and 1 in the evening. When I had my last scope I also had alot of irritation and alot of stomache polyps. I have latlely been having alot of diarreha about 2 hours after I eat and I'm generally not feeling well.

she should get her period a week prior to her normal cycle after taking EC but if its a couple weeks late that then take a preg test or see a doctor

you should NOT use your birth control as ec though. i guess it can be used as ec if your having unprotected sex. its not the same thing as ec pill. do you know how many pills you would have to take to come close to the amount of hormones. im not saying that was stupid. you are relying only on birth control when your not taking them right...even if you do take them right they are not 100% and by your not using condoms with that...

hi eveyrone,,ive been having sex with my boyfriend for almost 6 months and we do use protection and when we dont i make sure he pulls out but we had a scare one time and i took the EC pill about to months ago and i got my period a acouple days later early.. but i got it and everything was fine and now i havnt gotten my period since i got it that time i took the EC pill in November.. i took a pregnancy test and it was negative but im stilll afraid.. what should i do i need some advice !

well I am going to see my GI doc monday.. I have GERD and was taking AcipHex but had to stop when I found out I was pregnant.. so I am hoping it is just severe GERD related to that.. however, my lower back (flank, both sides) )is hurting more this morning, where the kidneys are.??? I am just wondering if the 2 can be related.. took pepto bismol last night and that seemed to help the stomach pain a little, but not completely... thanks for input!

I took a EC Pill Jan 29, had period after that. Had sex with a condom 1 week before next expected period, but he came out of condom when done, but condom still sticking outside of me. Not on Birth Control as of yet. Period now 6 days late with adominal cramping. What's wrong with me?
