Aciphex dosage instructions

Common Questions and Answers about Aciphex dosage instructions

aciphex

Avatar m tn Have you started tapering down your dosage per your doctor's instructions? Just make sure you are not adjusting dosage or quitting it without talking to your doctor first; just ensure you follow his/her instructions. Doing it on your own can cause many unpleasant symptoms that you would not really have to endure if you take it as prescribed.
Avatar n tn I have actually been on some form of reflux med for a bit longer than 5yrs and started with Prilosec OTC, then prescription Prilosec, Nexium, Aciphex, and briefly Prevacid. These days I tend to take whatever I have in my medicine cabinet (Aciphex or Prevacid) twice a day, max dosage, and occasionally a tagamet to help out. I have a hiatial hernia that is going to be fixed soon so I am hoping to get off the meds and that the side effects will eventually go away...I hope.
Avatar f tn I've taken Aciphex for over 10 years for extreme GERD. Since all the new studues came out about it being so bad long term, I decided to try and get off it. I'm down from 20mg a day to 20mg every 3-4 days. I've weaned over the last 2 months, had horrible rebound and can't get passed this stage. I have bad stomach pains, diarrhea, nausea. I'm supplementing with Tums currently. Any helpful advice is appreciated. I'm ready to give up.
Avatar f tn Hi, I have severe gastroparesis and have had for several years. For mine I take aciphex two times a day...one in morning and one at bedtime. My reflux was so bad it caused me to have bronchial spasms and coughing. The doctors have never mentioned that I could only take for a certain amount of time. I work for a family doctor, but see a gastro doctor plus a internal medicine doctor so feel sure one of them would have given me information by this time if there was a reason.
119341 tn?1232563757 I take Aciphex daily to control bile reflux and no one ever told me to wait 4 hours after taking my synthroid. It doesn't say anything on the insert that comes with the prescription either. It only says to wait 4 hrs before taking calcium supplements. Is there something out there somewhere that lists all this stuff? I've just been going by the instructions that come with my med and what little bit my PCP has told me.
Avatar n tn t noticed much with the mouth but i will now be paying close attention. I have taken Prilosec, Nexium, Aciphex, and Prevacid up to twice a day at the max dosage. I recently had an eye exam but the doc just said i had dry eye and would need glasses when I hit my 50's. Not real helpful.
Avatar f tn My husband was originally on Aciphex, but placed on Nexium after our insurance stopped covering aciphex and he was miserable. Aciphex has always worked so much better for him. Finally, after a year of misery he's back on aciphex and so much happier. I hope it works as well for you.
Avatar f tn I am very compliant in taking my meds and have followed my GI doctors instructions. He too stated one PPI might work better than another so he changed from Aciphex to Nexium. Since he started me on a new PPI will it take a few days for the new PPI to be effective? I thought if I was on one PPI and then changed to another there should be less time for the new PPI to be effective.
Avatar m tn Which, incidentally, stopped when I stopped taking the aciphex. Shortly after taking the aciphex I started experiencing symptoms of GERD. I still have the GERD to this day - some days its worse than others. I connect a straight line between the taking of aciphex and the development of GERD. Is this a reasonable conclusion? or is there some other more likely explanation?
1744042 tn?1311261168 Yes, GERD and thyroid disorders are related. Many of us who have thyroid issues have or had GERD or acid reflux. I was on Aciphex, which is one of the stronger acid reducers and at times, that didn't even touch the reflux; my insurance quit paying for Aciphex and I was forced to go to omerprozole; I'd have to take 3-4 times the recommended dosage before it made any difference at all.
Avatar m tn He probably will increase your dosage but never do this on your own, follow his instructions. They normally will start you out on a low dosage, see if it helps, and if not they either increase it or switch medications. Always work closely with your doctor on your medications. Take care.
Avatar f tn Tylenol is unveiling new maximum dosage instructions for paracetamol or acetaminophen in the US. The new instructions state a maximum total daily of 3,000 mg versus the old maximum of 4,000 mg. Additionally, it states to take the over the counter dosage every 6 hours instead of every 4 to 6 hours. These new instructions seem to be specific to their over the counter products not prescription medications.
Avatar f tn pylori bacteria in the digestive tract. The irony is, if you have ulcers and take Aciphex alone, the Aciphex could make the symptoms worse. Clearly something changed after taking the antibiotics, and now your ally in heartburn control has become your enemy. It might be worth getting back to your physician on this one, since antibiotics can often be a "swinging door", killing some bacteria while making it easier for other bacteria to get through that otherwise wouldn't have.
8593574 tn?1398970803 Up to two every 4-6 hours not to exceed 8 in 1 day. I think that's correct. The dosage is written on the bottle, do not exceed the dosage.

Avatar n tn Since then I am taking Acid suppressants such as Nexium and Aciphex as prescribed by my doctor. I also underwent Endoscopy and Biopsy, Abdominal Ultrasound, X-Ray and Blood test . All the tests came normal except they found H-Pilory infection and I took antibiotics and subsequent Stool test for H-Pilory showed negative. I am still having all the above discomforts which is going on for 5 months. I normally eat very healthy and I am following a strict diet since this problem started.
Avatar f tn my mother (77yrs.of age) has been taking 10mg lexapro for general depression and body aches. Today, the physician said he wanted to give her something that would make her feel more "perky" and changed her script to 150mg Effexor. The instructions are to take 1 pill/day and to stop the lexapro. From my reading it seems that these meds should be weaned.
Avatar n tn Has anyone tried Zegerid? So far I have tried Prevacid, Aciphex, Prilosec,Protonix, and Nexium. Aciphex gave me bad side effects and Nexium made my reflux symptoms worse. Prilosec did absolutely nothing for me. I was successfully treated for H. Pylori in Nov 07. Since then I have been suffering from Water Brash and now heartburn. I don't know where to turn. My GI now wants me to take Zegerid(isn't this med just like Prilosec with sodium?).
Avatar m tn What dosage has your doctor prescribed? This question would be better answered by him as he knows your medical history.
198506 tn?1251156915 I was diagnosed with silent reflux on 2/6/08 and prescribed Aciphex. The ENT diagnosed the reflux through an endoscopy I think it's called...he threaded a fiber optic camera through my nostril and down my throat. He said my throat was swollen and red and that I had vocal cord nodules. I had no symptoms of GERD and went to the ENT because I had a near constant feeling of throat contriction. A previous Barrium swallow showed no GERD.
Avatar m tn told no I am not fine, one area no concern, other area metaplasia, was I still taking the Aciphex. I have gone back on the Aciphex but am terrified after reading on websites that I did the wrong thing. Endoscopy only done originally because I had still unexplained/diagnosis following three days of diarrhea, cramping, dehydration. On antibiotiic, H pylori ruled out. History of GERD, hiatal hernia. Control symptoms with diet, OTC Gaviscon.
Avatar n tn I have been on Aciphex 20 since 2007, with instant results. After changing Health Ins. , I am told by the current insurer that they won't cover Aciphex. I must go thru a step program, starting with Nexium, which my Doctor dosed at 40 mg instead of 20 mg, saying Nexium didn't come in 20 and the 40mg of Nexium is comparable to the 20 mg Aciphex . Questions: (1) Is the above true? (2) Are the side effects the same, and (3) What's the difference between the two.
Avatar f tn Hi, You need to speak with your prescribing physician about dosing instructions with the Suboxone. Make certain you follow his instructions, especially going from Methadone to Suboxone. Let us know how you make out.
982209 tn?1249608631 It is a higher dosage. Doctors will usually wait and see if you are getting the desired effect from your current dosage...if not they will sometimes raise it. Did your doctor say why he/she was raising it?
