Aciphex calcium

Common Questions and Answers about Aciphex calcium

aciphex

Avatar n tn My GI switched me to Nexium because Aciphex gave me terrible side effects and Protonix made my water brash symptoms ever worse. I have tried Prilosec in the past and it didn't have much of an effect for me. I'm just wondering what else I can do to alleviate my water brash symptoms. It has been on-going for more than three months. I can pretty eat anything I want(coffee, wine and pizza etc, etc) and my symptoms do not get better or worse after I eat.
Avatar f tn Hi, I have severe gastroparesis and have had for several years. For mine I take aciphex two times a day...one in morning and one at bedtime. My reflux was so bad it caused me to have bronchial spasms and coughing. The doctors have never mentioned that I could only take for a certain amount of time. I work for a family doctor, but see a gastro doctor plus a internal medicine doctor so feel sure one of them would have given me information by this time if there was a reason.
Avatar f tn My husband was originally on Aciphex, but placed on Nexium after our insurance stopped covering aciphex and he was miserable. Aciphex has always worked so much better for him. Finally, after a year of misery he's back on aciphex and so much happier. I hope it works as well for you.
119341 tn?1232563757 I take Aciphex daily to control bile reflux and no one ever told me to wait 4 hours after taking my synthroid. It doesn't say anything on the insert that comes with the prescription either. It only says to wait 4 hrs before taking calcium supplements. Is there something out there somewhere that lists all this stuff? I've just been going by the instructions that come with my med and what little bit my PCP has told me.
Avatar m tn Which, incidentally, stopped when I stopped taking the aciphex. Shortly after taking the aciphex I started experiencing symptoms of GERD. I still have the GERD to this day - some days its worse than others. I connect a straight line between the taking of aciphex and the development of GERD. Is this a reasonable conclusion? or is there some other more likely explanation?
Avatar f tn pylori bacteria in the digestive tract. The irony is, if you have ulcers and take Aciphex alone, the Aciphex could make the symptoms worse. Clearly something changed after taking the antibiotics, and now your ally in heartburn control has become your enemy. It might be worth getting back to your physician on this one, since antibiotics can often be a "swinging door", killing some bacteria while making it easier for other bacteria to get through that otherwise wouldn't have.
Avatar n tn I would suggest that you get an event monitor and if there are any of the findings mentioned above, then you may need medical therapy with a beta blocker or a calcium channel blocker. You may also need a transthoraccic echocardiogram to make sure your MVP has not degenerated into something more severe, and that your heart function remains normal.
Avatar n tn In mid April I started having GERD symptoms (acid reflux, feeling of something in my throat after eating, dyspepsia). The doctor tried me on Prilosec and Aciphex, neither of which helped (and in fact seemed to make things worse). In lat June I started having back pain on my left side, around my shoulder blade. I also started having abdominal pain in a roughly correlational spot on my front side (on the left).
Avatar n tn Since then I am taking Acid suppressants such as Nexium and Aciphex as prescribed by my doctor. I also underwent Endoscopy and Biopsy, Abdominal Ultrasound, X-Ray and Blood test . All the tests came normal except they found H-Pilory infection and I took antibiotics and subsequent Stool test for H-Pilory showed negative. I am still having all the above discomforts which is going on for 5 months. I normally eat very healthy and I am following a strict diet since this problem started.
Avatar n tn Once the bacteria has been eradicated the stomach is still producing extra acid therefore one should continue taking acid reducing medication for some time. I made a hugh mistake and stopped use of the PPI(in my case Aciphex) immeidately after taking the last antibiotic for H. Pylori. I am now back on Aciphex and my Water Brash symptoms have diminshed greatly.
Avatar n tn Has anyone tried Zegerid? So far I have tried Prevacid, Aciphex, Prilosec,Protonix, and Nexium. Aciphex gave me bad side effects and Nexium made my reflux symptoms worse. Prilosec did absolutely nothing for me. I was successfully treated for H. Pylori in Nov 07. Since then I have been suffering from Water Brash and now heartburn. I don't know where to turn. My GI now wants me to take Zegerid(isn't this med just like Prilosec with sodium?).
198506 tn?1251156915 I was diagnosed with silent reflux on 2/6/08 and prescribed Aciphex. The ENT diagnosed the reflux through an endoscopy I think it's called...he threaded a fiber optic camera through my nostril and down my throat. He said my throat was swollen and red and that I had vocal cord nodules. I had no symptoms of GERD and went to the ENT because I had a near constant feeling of throat contriction. A previous Barrium swallow showed no GERD.
Avatar m tn told no I am not fine, one area no concern, other area metaplasia, was I still taking the Aciphex. I have gone back on the Aciphex but am terrified after reading on websites that I did the wrong thing. Endoscopy only done originally because I had still unexplained/diagnosis following three days of diarrhea, cramping, dehydration. On antibiotiic, H pylori ruled out. History of GERD, hiatal hernia. Control symptoms with diet, OTC Gaviscon.
Avatar n tn I have been on Aciphex 20 since 2007, with instant results. After changing Health Ins. , I am told by the current insurer that they won't cover Aciphex. I must go thru a step program, starting with Nexium, which my Doctor dosed at 40 mg instead of 20 mg, saying Nexium didn't come in 20 and the 40mg of Nexium is comparable to the 20 mg Aciphex . Questions: (1) Is the above true? (2) Are the side effects the same, and (3) What's the difference between the two.
Avatar f tn I've taken Aciphex for over 10 years for extreme GERD. Since all the new studues came out about it being so bad long term, I decided to try and get off it. I'm down from 20mg a day to 20mg every 3-4 days. I've weaned over the last 2 months, had horrible rebound and can't get passed this stage. I have bad stomach pains, diarrhea, nausea. I'm supplementing with Tums currently. Any helpful advice is appreciated. I'm ready to give up.
19024797 tn?1471291132 Taking magnesium, vitamin D and K are more important if you're taking them with a calcium supplement to help prevent osteoporosis or rebuild bone, as those minerals are needed for the best absorption of calcium. It's important to note that many/most doctors don't tell us that we need all of them... My doctor put me on calcium, years ago, but didn't bother telling me that I needed the others to help get best absorption...
Avatar f tn I have for the past 10 years been on Aciphex 20mg for to much acid in my stomache, I was at 4 times the normal amount but now I have about 7 times to normal amount I have been taking 2 aciphex pills in the am and 1 in the evening. When I had my last scope I also had alot of irritation and alot of stomache polyps. I have latlely been having alot of diarreha about 2 hours after I eat and I'm generally not feeling well.
Avatar n tn Are you taking any beta-blockers or calcium-channel blockers for your MVP or medication for your GERD? I take atenolol for the MVP and aciphex for the GERD. Do you have arrythmias as well? I know the tachicardia can be scary and frustrating. I would let your Dr know about the pain etc. It's always good to keep them informed. Wish I could help you more I just wanted to let you know you're not alone!!!
Avatar f tn well I am going to see my GI doc monday.. I have GERD and was taking AcipHex but had to stop when I found out I was pregnant.. so I am hoping it is just severe GERD related to that.. however, my lower back (flank, both sides) )is hurting more this morning, where the kidneys are.??? I am just wondering if the 2 can be related.. took pepto bismol last night and that seemed to help the stomach pain a little, but not completely... thanks for input!
Avatar m tn had mylanta and prilosec and the situation got improved.. doctor recommended aciphex and currently i am on that.. situation seems to get better but at times, the condition that I have something stuck in throat and a little difficulty to swallow flares up. Got a sore throat a couple of days back. but now it is better. feeling weak and has muscle pains occasionally.. any ideas? should i expect improvement only after a while? currently i am on the 15th day of taking aciphex...
Avatar n tn He recommended I go back on Aciphex or another PPI and to take Benadryl. This seems to make sense. I asked my GI about my hypersalivation problem but he did not know what the cause could be. After the Endoscopy and the H. Pylori visit, the GI doesn't wanted to be bothered. Anyone else have a similar experience?
Avatar n tn My husband is taking Aciphex for reflux, yet he continues to have stomach pain, not hearburn. He has recently had an upper GI and nothing was found. Nothing he takes orally helps the pain. What should he do if the specialist can't find his problem.
Avatar n tn when I was first diagnosed with Barretts I was taking aciphex. Two years later when I went for a re-check endoscopy the gastrointerologist suggested that I go on nexium. He said he thought it worked better than aciphex. Well about 8 weeks into the nexium I was getting great pains, I thought my desease was getting worse. I went back to the Dr. and asked to be put back on the aciphex. I beleive those pains were a side effect of the nexium.
Avatar m tn I was dx a few months back. Take advair twice a day (was taking singulair too, but it gave me a headache) & take aciphex daily for gerd. the aciphex has helped w/ the coughing some, but i still cough a good bit...sometimes to the point of dizziness. If I laugh, I cough. Any suggestions?
Avatar m tn Been on prilosec, nexium aciphex, etc., ever since. My GP ordered an upper GI. All normal except MASSIVE GERD. He doubled my nexium to 2 a day. Also had a chest xray which was normal. He ordered abdominal blood work - all normal (gall bladder, liver, pancreas, etc) Still couldn't shake the intermittent nausea....Had an endoscopy - showed gerd, slight irritation of esophagus, small hiatal hernia and stomach blisters and nodules which were removed and benign.
Avatar n tn I have actually been on some form of reflux med for a bit longer than 5yrs and started with Prilosec OTC, then prescription Prilosec, Nexium, Aciphex, and briefly Prevacid. These days I tend to take whatever I have in my medicine cabinet (Aciphex or Prevacid) twice a day, max dosage, and occasionally a tagamet to help out. I have a hiatial hernia that is going to be fixed soon so I am hoping to get off the meds and that the side effects will eventually go away...I hope.
