aciphex and sore throat

Since then, i had a feeling that something is stuck in throat and particularly at nites, i was not able to sleep properly. had mylanta and prilosec and the situation got improved.. doctor recommended aciphex and currently i am on that.. situation seems to get better but at times, the condition that I have something stuck in throat and a little difficulty to swallow flares up. Got a sore throat a couple of days back. but now it is better. feeling weak and has muscle pains occasionally..

i always have acidic test in mouth and throat, whatever i eat or drink test sour. sometime middle of the night i get acidic test in throat. have this problem from many years. need help. i am taking aciphex but not helping much. some time stomuch and chest also burns. had upper gi endoscopy, stomuch lining is inflame. what should i do? please let me know.

he threaded a fiber optic camera through my nostril and down my throat. He said my throat was swollen and red and that I had vocal cord nodules. I had no symptoms of GERD and went to the ENT because I had a near constant feeling of throat contriction. A previous Barrium swallow showed no GERD. Now I am having cramp like pain under my left rib cage which is relieved somewhat when I lie on my right side as opposed to my left. And the pain extends to my left flank.

Specifically, my throat becomes very tight, irritated and sore. I also get the feeling as though the back of my throat/nose is very dry. As you can imagine, these symptoms are very disconcerting! In addition, I continue to be extremely hoarse and dry in the morning when I wake up. Are these symptoms something of immediate concern? How long should I continue on this path of discomfort before seeking medical treatment again?

I have been having throat problems for a few months. I have had an EGDP, Upper Gi Series, and modified barium swallow and continue to feel like there's something stuck in my throat. I was told I have a heinal hernia. What other tests can I take to get help and be healed?

Avoid spicy foods and keep your head elevated at night to help prevent the acid from flowing into your throat. Try not to worry and take your medication until you see your GI doc. Hope this helps and best wishes!

Did it help when you quit taking the medicine. I have acid reflux and nothing seems to help me. I've watched my diet and took medicine and now I have a sore throat and a swollen tongue. I'm deeing a ENT now. Let me know if it helped to quit taking the medicine. Good luck!

Sorry about taking so long to reply the thing is everything trigers my gerd. For breakffest I'll have a glass of water and an apple and i still get gerd symptoms. I have tried all types of drugs and switching my diet my nothing seems too work. I'm sick of always having a constant sore throat and not being able to hold any food down and all the doc seem too do is switch my meds around which never seems too help I really just don't know what to do.

ve also tried anti-allergy meds like Claritin. Nothing has really improved, and my throat is feeling worse than ever because a year of clearing and coughing means it's constantly raw and hoarse. I'm really at my wits' end and I'm having trouble concentrating on work or sleeping. What could this be? And what should I do now?

That spring, I started having difficulty breathing, chronic sore throat, hoarse, lump in throat that seemingly came out of nowhere. I found out that these issues were probably due to a combo of: allergies, PN drip, and acid reflux. The ENT said the back of my throat looked like two cherries and scheduled me for barium study and gave me 2 wks of aciphex. I never got around to taking the xray, and ended up changing to an isurance program with my school...but I didn't really use it.

A reflux diet mostly involves avoiding acidic foods and beverages like alcohol, caffeine, tomato products and spicy foods. Because reflux is often worse when a person is lying down, avoid eating two hours before going to bed. In serious cases of GERD, over the counter meds won't help.

Acid reflux can cause the feeling of having a lump in your throat. If the Aciphex has not imporved symptoms in 7 months, it is past time to try something else or to increase the dosage if possible. Effective treatment of acid reflux should eliminate the feeling of having that lump in your throat. Get back to your dr and see what other options you have for treatment. Some times people require both a proton pump inhibitor ( PPI - like Aciphex) and an H2 blocker (Zantec, Pepcid...

5 hours and I woke up with thick green mucus in my sore throat and my chest is kind of tight and wheezy and every time I cough my throat and chest hurt and my nose is plugged.

At first, i had a dry cough for about one week that slowly began to produce yellow phlegm in my throat after eating. Eventually my nose became congested and I noticed a lot of Post-nasal drip at nightime and throughout the day--especially after eating (at one point I was constantly spitting yellow mucus from my throat).

I connect a straight line between the taking of aciphex and the development of GERD. Is this a reasonable conclusion? or is there some other more likely explanation?

pylori bacteria in the digestive tract. The irony is, if you have ulcers and take Aciphex alone, the Aciphex could make the symptoms worse. Clearly something changed after taking the antibiotics, and now your ally in heartburn control has become your enemy. It might be worth getting back to your physician on this one, since antibiotics can often be a "swinging door", killing some bacteria while making it easier for other bacteria to get through that otherwise wouldn't have.

I have suffered from Hypersalivation for about three months. I went to a ENT today and he did a VideoStroboscope on my throat. He feels my saliva is rather bubbly and the cause is possibly related to acid reflux. He recommended I go back on Aciphex or another PPI and to take Benadryl. This seems to make sense. I asked my GI about my hypersalivation problem but he did not know what the cause could be. After the Endoscopy and the H. Pylori visit, the GI doesn't wanted to be bothered.

In the past two weeks I have had something going on that I'm not quite sure what it is. It starts with a swirling in my sternum area which turns into a twisting type cramping. This leads to headaches, dizziness, fevers that go up and down and acid (I'm on 20 mg aciphex - 2 x daily) that races up my throat due to vomiting that causes my throat to swell. It is something that comes and goes.

I get that and to me it feels like a tight, gripping feeling. I don't know if it related to any kind of acid reflux but I do know when I take a Zegerid in the morning it doesn't happen. The confusing thing is I have a pretty bland diet these days so it's not like I am eating super hot & spicy food. And you can be sure nothing high in fat! Zegerid is a proton pump inhibitor so it or any H2 Blocker you have in your medicine cabinet might help.

My husband was originally on Aciphex, but placed on Nexium after our insurance stopped covering aciphex and he was miserable. Aciphex has always worked so much better for him. Finally, after a year of misery he's back on aciphex and so much happier. I hope it works as well for you.

(I think it is a type of Naturopathic Doc that looks in your eyes) and got a lot of drops and pills that I just could not keep up with and it was very costly.

well I am going to see my GI doc monday.. I have GERD and was taking AcipHex but had to stop when I found out I was pregnant.. so I am hoping it is just severe GERD related to that.. however, my lower back (flank, both sides) )is hurting more this morning, where the kidneys are.??? I am just wondering if the 2 can be related.. took pepto bismol last night and that seemed to help the stomach pain a little, but not completely... thanks for input!

Then I started gagging speratically and my throat would feel like I was sort of choking. The dr. did a scope of my noise and throat and my aidnoids, throat, epiglotis are all swollen and my white bloodcell count is way up and my lymph nodes are swollen under my tongue. I have gone to the dr.

This was all due to tx so a little info for anyone else presenting with a choking sensation in the throat, but get it checked anyway, and as I had smoked for over 30 years I was also worried about the voice box deal, the smoking commercials are killing me. ve had a endoscopy done and came to find severe esophogitis mild gastritis and a mild hyanial hernia. My GI dr put me in aciphex but it's not doing any thing yet. My throat is so sore all the time, I vomit blood out of my nose. This is no way to live!! I just recently started school and can't miss a day...I am a medical assistant student sk to much info in one day to miss! Please if anyone has any advice on how to deal with this please let me know!

Then I stated having some breathlessness and headaches and achy cheek bones and constant mucous in my throat and I would cough my head off. I felt the sinus drain and would carry kleenex with me to spit it out. I developed horrid gerd/heartburn/ bad breath and nothing in this world is helping with that and now the chronic sinus infection/problems. In the morings I cough and drain till I literally vomit gobs and gobs of mucous up in the sink. Then I can breathe a bit better.

Acid reducers like Zantac, Pepcid and Tagamet as well as PPI proton pump inhibitors like Prevacid Protonix and Aciphex commonly help acid reflux. Valium and other benzodiazepines help anxiety. With respect to diarrhea, dexadrine commonly causes that side effect, and many others do as well.
