I connect a straight line between the taking of aciphex and the development of GERD. Is this a reasonable conclusion? or is there some other more likely explanation?

pylori bacteria in the digestive tract. The irony is, if you have ulcers and take Aciphex alone, the Aciphex could make the symptoms worse. Clearly something changed after taking the antibiotics, and now your ally in heartburn control has become your enemy. It might be worth getting back to your physician on this one, since antibiotics can often be a "swinging door", killing some bacteria while making it easier for other bacteria to get through that otherwise wouldn't have.

Have a sensitive stomach and get burning pains especially if food has chilly or is strong in acid. Ranitidine has helped but from time to time suffer missing hearbeats. Having given up the drug for a while things improved but stomach started to suffer again and thus the reason to re-start the drug.

And it was only once then. It just happened so suddenly, I was breathing find and then I lie down and immediately begin experiencing problems. I also have terriible posture and spend 5+ hours a day using the computer, sitting not up straight in a chair, not sure if that has anything to do with it either.

My husband was originally on Aciphex, but placed on Nexium after our insurance stopped covering aciphex and he was miserable. Aciphex has always worked so much better for him. Finally, after a year of misery he's back on aciphex and so much happier. I hope it works as well for you.

ve never been officially diagnosed, just something my GP thought might be bothering me and prescribed me ranitidine... long story short, the ranitidine worked fine (150 mg/2x a day) and I was symptom free within 24 hours. Flash forward to 5 weeks ago, I thought I was developing a bit of a chest cold with some chest tightness. Figured the cough would come along later... funny thing, it never came.

For over a month now I have been suffering from stomach pain, nausea, a bit of gas and bloating, and food tasting really weird/gross. I've been taking prescribed antacids for it and lots of generic tums. A similar thing like this occurred a month ago, however, my stomach only hurt when I touched the very lower portion of it then. Today my stomach hurts when I touch it mostly in the middle and when I don't touch it. The pain feels like the inside of my stomach is just raw.

I have actually been on some form of reflux med for a bit longer than 5yrs and started with Prilosec OTC, then prescription Prilosec, Nexium, Aciphex, and briefly Prevacid. These days I tend to take whatever I have in my medicine cabinet (Aciphex or Prevacid) twice a day, max dosage, and occasionally a tagamet to help out. I have a hiatial hernia that is going to be fixed soon so I am hoping to get off the meds and that the side effects will eventually go away...I hope.

ve been paranoid ever since I learned that Ranitidine had been recalled due to a link to cancer. Is a 2 month dose of Ranitidine something to worry about?

Since then I am taking Acid suppressants such as Nexium and Aciphex as prescribed by my doctor. I also underwent Endoscopy and Biopsy, Abdominal Ultrasound, X-Ray and Blood test . All the tests came normal except they found H-Pilory infection and I took antibiotics and subsequent Stool test for H-Pilory showed negative. I am still having all the above discomforts which is going on for 5 months. I normally eat very healthy and I am following a strict diet since this problem started.

I was diagnosed with mild esophagitis caused by GERD. I was put on Aciphex. I was also diagnosed with hiatal hernia during endoscopy. I already knew I had one because an upper GI series 6 years ago detected it. Even so, the doctor who performed the endoscopy, sent me to get another more current upper GI series. The results came back “no obvious hiatal hernia”, even though the endoscopy showed one and the upper GI series from 6 years ago did too.

So far I have tried Prevacid, Aciphex, Prilosec,Protonix, and Nexium. Aciphex gave me bad side effects and Nexium made my reflux symptoms worse. Prilosec did absolutely nothing for me. I was successfully treated for H. Pylori in Nov 07. Since then I have been suffering from Water Brash and now heartburn. I don't know where to turn. My GI now wants me to take Zegerid(isn't this med just like Prilosec with sodium?). Any input will be greatly appreciated.

you could try looking up those drugs online and see what they say about hurting baby. i can tell you that buscopan is a muscle relaxant and that that shouldn't hurt your future baby. i have been on ranitidine, still have some i think. but i had heart palpitations with it. but i am really glad to hear its working for you. because of my experience with it i would definitely suggest talking to your doctor about it. but my main suggestion would be sort things out with your body first.

he threaded a fiber optic camera through my nostril and down my throat. He said my throat was swollen and red and that I had vocal cord nodules. I had no symptoms of GERD and went to the ENT because I had a near constant feeling of throat contriction. A previous Barrium swallow showed no GERD. Now I am having cramp like pain under my left rib cage which is relieved somewhat when I lie on my right side as opposed to my left. And the pain extends to my left flank.

Now, two years later my gastritis symptoms have come back (heartburn and nausea), and I read somewhere that I can take omeprazole AND ranitidine on the same day (but not the same time) so I've been taking the 20 mg Omeprazole in the am before breakfast and a 75mg ranitidine in the pm before dinner, which has worked quiet well.

I have had an endoscopy and ph testing which has proven it is gerd i am currently on aciphex twice a day and have tried just about every gerd me out there i really dont know what to do

Avoid heavy meals and take frequent small ones. Avoid too much of caffeine, tea, fried food and drinks both alcoholic and non alcoholic fuzzy ones. Avoid heavy exercises within 4 hours of a heavy meal. Go to bed at least 2 hours after food. Hope this helps. Please let me know if there is any thing else and do keep me posted. Take care!

told no I am not fine, one area no concern, other area metaplasia, was I still taking the Aciphex. I have gone back on the Aciphex but am terrified after reading on websites that I did the wrong thing. Endoscopy only done originally because I had still unexplained/diagnosis following three days of diarrhea, cramping, dehydration. On antibiotiic, H pylori ruled out. History of GERD, hiatal hernia. Control symptoms with diet, OTC Gaviscon.

t take that and i took the ranitidine, within 30 min of taking i had more and more problems breathing, i felt like i was suffocating. i rang my doctor as i didn't know what to do and she put me through as she could tell i couldn't breathe even through she couldn't understand me. By the time the ambulance arrived my lips and neck has swollen, i could barely say a word let alone a sentence. i had a rash around my neck and my oxygen saturation was low.

I jus started taking aciphex and used to takn 2 40mg nexium a day, am I supose to take 4 aciphex a day being they are just 20mg?

t rely on any blood tests which only test for general levels of Cobalamin and not Methylocobalamin and the lab ranges are far too low. Without intending to sound like a conspiracy theorist, PPIs are probably the 2nd highest grossing class of drugs with 10s of billions of dollars in annual sales, to patients, most of whom DO NOT need to take them!

I have for the past 10 years been on Aciphex 20mg for to much acid in my stomache, I was at 4 times the normal amount but now I have about 7 times to normal amount I have been taking 2 aciphex pills in the am and 1 in the evening. When I had my last scope I also had alot of irritation and alot of stomache polyps. I have latlely been having alot of diarreha about 2 hours after I eat and I'm generally not feeling well.
