aciphex

Avatar m tn my gerd cleared up , i healed up completely and i felt great .....no side effects . u should ask ur doc about aciphex ....... i tried everything and aciphex is the best ....... let me know what happens ....
Avatar m tn I connect a straight line between the taking of aciphex and the development of GERD. Is this a reasonable conclusion? or is there some other more likely explanation?
Avatar m tn Okay thank you. Now we have an accurate answer.
Avatar f tn pylori bacteria in the digestive tract. The irony is, if you have ulcers and take Aciphex alone, the Aciphex could make the symptoms worse. Clearly something changed after taking the antibiotics, and now your ally in heartburn control has become your enemy. It might be worth getting back to your physician on this one, since antibiotics can often be a "swinging door", killing some bacteria while making it easier for other bacteria to get through that otherwise wouldn't have.
Avatar n tn The hernia was considered the reason I had the pain/bloating with many meals and the reflux was diagnosed as LPR since I never experienced heartburn outside of a flair up of the hernia, I had the "PND" that is so common with it, and the foods that bothered me were all on the list of foods to avoid with LPR. Since being diagnosed, I still have many issues, especially with random flair ups of the hernia. Sometimes for no reason at all, I will bloat and get the severe pain.
Avatar f tn My husband was originally on Aciphex, but placed on Nexium after our insurance stopped covering aciphex and he was miserable. Aciphex has always worked so much better for him. Finally, after a year of misery he's back on aciphex and so much happier. I hope it works as well for you.
Avatar m tn I've been suffering with LPR for a year and a half and I'm TIRED of it. I NEED my voice back so I can sing again. I have stress and anxiety problems and I feel like it's not just something that makes LPR get worse but perhaps it is the culprit! Do all of you LPR sufferers have stress/anxiety problems? I think it has something to do with the short breaths making the diaphragm tense plus all of the other tension and also indigestion all combined from stress/anxiety.
276730 tn?1327962946 You might want to get your throat checked out by a good ENT doctor to rule out bacterial infection and/or Laryngopharyngeal Reflux (LPR) I had LPR for much of treatment and in the beginning it was so bad I could hardly swallow. PPI's like Nexium are often prescribed if that's the case.
Avatar m tn m 24 now) I have had Laryngopharyngeal reflux and 3-4 weeks ago I was on a hike and got an absolutely terrible burning sensation in my chest that kept coming and going throughout the walk back to the car and the burning continued the rest of the day just not as bad and it has also continued to this day. It doesn't seem to respond to ppi and I'm very anxious that due to my near lifelong LPR I developed cancer.
Avatar f tn One thing to note, is that there is also something just like gerd but they distinguish as being higher. Called Laryngopharyngeal Reflux (LPR). Here is information on LPR. https://my.clevelandclinic.org/health/diseases/15024-laryngopharyngeal-reflux-lpr Let me know what you think.
Avatar n tn I have actually been on some form of reflux med for a bit longer than 5yrs and started with Prilosec OTC, then prescription Prilosec, Nexium, Aciphex, and briefly Prevacid. These days I tend to take whatever I have in my medicine cabinet (Aciphex or Prevacid) twice a day, max dosage, and occasionally a tagamet to help out. I have a hiatial hernia that is going to be fixed soon so I am hoping to get off the meds and that the side effects will eventually go away...I hope.
Avatar n tn Since then I am taking Acid suppressants such as Nexium and Aciphex as prescribed by my doctor. I also underwent Endoscopy and Biopsy, Abdominal Ultrasound, X-Ray and Blood test . All the tests came normal except they found H-Pilory infection and I took antibiotics and subsequent Stool test for H-Pilory showed negative. I am still having all the above discomforts which is going on for 5 months. I normally eat very healthy and I am following a strict diet since this problem started.
Avatar m tn After the procedure, I had zero acid responses. LPR and GERD are very closely related, it is possible that the first diagnosis missed the mark a bit. You might consider asking your doctor for an acid test performed on an outpatient basis that records your acid level over a longer span of time, usually several days. It isn't much fun, but you will get answers.
Avatar f tn I was diagnosed with mild esophagitis caused by GERD. I was put on Aciphex. I was also diagnosed with hiatal hernia during endoscopy. I already knew I had one because an upper GI series 6 years ago detected it. Even so, the doctor who performed the endoscopy, sent me to get another more current upper GI series. The results came back “no obvious hiatal hernia”, even though the endoscopy showed one and the upper GI series from 6 years ago did too.
Avatar n tn So far I have tried Prevacid, Aciphex, Prilosec,Protonix, and Nexium. Aciphex gave me bad side effects and Nexium made my reflux symptoms worse. Prilosec did absolutely nothing for me. I was successfully treated for H. Pylori in Nov 07. Since then I have been suffering from Water Brash and now heartburn. I don't know where to turn. My GI now wants me to take Zegerid(isn't this med just like Prilosec with sodium?). Any input will be greatly appreciated.
Avatar f tn Hi Guys I have significant LPR reflux after taking a long course of Antibiotics for my Prostate problems. I have a lot of swelling sensation/feeling in my throat and stiffness in my neck, is this normal? I also had mild oral thrush and the ENT doc Harley street London says it’s quite common to come together but I dunno, the thrush has subsided a bit but he gave me Omeprazole but it messed up my stomach, so I stopped after a month, is LPR a chronic condition?
Avatar f tn I have GERD and LPR for almost 2 months or maybe more than that and I was really curious when will these stop. Im scared that there will be a time that I won't be able to speak anymore. I was also taking medications that lessen the symptoms in short amount of time then they will go back again. I've always thought that I would be experiencing the process all over again. I hope you can give me any advices or tips to help me completely prevent my illness.
198506 tn?1251156915 he threaded a fiber optic camera through my nostril and down my throat. He said my throat was swollen and red and that I had vocal cord nodules. I had no symptoms of GERD and went to the ENT because I had a near constant feeling of throat contriction. A previous Barrium swallow showed no GERD. Now I am having cramp like pain under my left rib cage which is relieved somewhat when I lie on my right side as opposed to my left. And the pain extends to my left flank.
Avatar m tn told no I am not fine, one area no concern, other area metaplasia, was I still taking the Aciphex. I have gone back on the Aciphex but am terrified after reading on websites that I did the wrong thing. Endoscopy only done originally because I had still unexplained/diagnosis following three days of diarrhea, cramping, dehydration. On antibiotiic, H pylori ruled out. History of GERD, hiatal hernia. Control symptoms with diet, OTC Gaviscon.
Avatar m tn Hi and welcome to the GERD forum. Not being a medical professional, the only thing I can advise, is just go get the testing, the more u stress over this the worse u will feel...GERD and reflux feeds off that, and u will only get more scared as u will feel worse.... Keep in mind this was a choice u made, and only u can avoid it in the future....
Avatar f tn Hi and welcome to the GERD forum. It is very possible that what u r dealing with is GERD ....LPR has all the same symptoms and u have to treat it the same....u may want to try to avoid foods they trigger ur symptoms, so keep a journal so u know which of the "typical" foods affect u, and there are ways to modify ur lifestyle as well as ur diet...like no eating b4 u lay down for at least 3 to 4 hours...elevate the head of ur bed....no tight clothes....
Avatar m tn Hallo ! I 'm just reading your post as I 'm looking for a support group myself. I have been diagnosed with LPR myself. And I also have this weird thing of waking up at night and feeling the urge to eat. That can have several causes and there is actually a name for it NES or Night Eating Syndrome. It have its roots in emotional imbalance or simply not eating enough throughout the day and anything in between.
Avatar f tn Anyway, my primary finally sent me to the ENT who diagnosed me with LPR (silent reflux) and vocal cord nodules due to the damage from the reflux. He put me on 20 mg Aciphex a day but still that has had little effect on my throat constriction. Now I am having pains on my left side under my breast bone which sometimes extends to my back. It feels almost like a gas bubble or maybe like the cramps you get when you've been running too long.
Avatar n tn I jus started taking aciphex and used to takn 2 40mg nexium a day, am I supose to take 4 aciphex a day being they are just 20mg?
Avatar f tn t rely on any blood tests which only test for general levels of Cobalamin and not Methylocobalamin and the lab ranges are far too low. Without intending to sound like a conspiracy theorist, PPIs are probably the 2nd highest grossing class of drugs with 10s of billions of dollars in annual sales, to patients, most of whom DO NOT need to take them!
Avatar m tn I wanted to share my LPR story, and hopefully begin a fresh thread for LPR sufferers. I have seen 100s of posts on regarding LPR, but found none by people that have actually cured their symptoms. If you are out there, please post replies - these are important for moral and confidence building. June, 2013 Here’s my story. My symptoms started all of a sudden - I choked on a bit of water, and when I coughed it off I tried to burp and realized I couldn't.
