the diagnoses of gerd was made 6 years ago via upper gi and symptoms of regurgitation (which aciphex helped greatly). the recent diagnoses of gerd and gastritis was made during endoscopy and biopsy. My gastrologist is very well renouned in NY but he didnt seem concernd. wouldnt the bile reflux be seen during endoscopy? My symptoms did start after i started taking celebrex for a shoulder pain. took for 10 days and docs thought this is what caused my gastritis.
In the past two weeks I have had something going on that I'm not quite sure what it is. It starts with a swirling in my sternum area which turns into a twisting type cramping. This leads to headaches, dizziness, fevers that go up and down and acid (I'm on 20 mg aciphex - 2 x daily) that races up my throat due to vomiting that causes my throat to swell. It is something that comes and goes.
well I am going to see my GI doc monday.. I have GERD and was taking AcipHex but had to stop when I found out I was pregnant.. so I am hoping it is just severe GERD related to that.. however, my lower back (flank, both sides) )is hurting more this morning, where the kidneys are.??? I am just wondering if the 2 can be related.. took pepto bismol last night and that seemed to help the stomach pain a little, but not completely... thanks for input!
I try to eat every 2-3 hours but am not always able to. I had an endoscopy recently which showed some gastritis and irritation, but nothing else. I tested negative for H. Pylori. My GI doc thinks I just produce too much acid, but he doesn't know why the antacids and PPIs only work for a short time and then stop working. At this point, all he can say is that I'll probably "outgrow" it.

I have had the belching and gurgling for about 4 months and the upper stomach pain for almost 2 months. i am very regular with my bowel movements (once a day) so i dont see how it could be ibs.
15 years ago i had a severe flu and it developed, or had it without me knowing, into chronic gastritis . recently i did endoscopy and the doctor said i have gastritis, i took all kind of wrong medications may be. nexium, sucralfate and protonex etc i believe and others and im still having mucuous coming out from my stomach to my mouth and im sure they caused me pre asthmatic symptoms.

chest xrays (normal), ekg, cbc, liver and pancreas enzyme blood tests (all normal), upper gi series (showed some thickening of rugal folds), upper endoscopy with biopsy (mild gastritis and gerd, negative on celiac and h pylori), gallbladder ultrasound (normal), ct scan of abdomen and pelvis with contrast (normal), colonoscopy (normal) and hida scan with cck (normal). I do have health anxietys and am currently in therapy and taking vybrid for anxiety.
have found out that I have Gastritis, which I am currently taking Aciphex for treatment. Seems The Aciphex has helped w/ the heartburn and related symtoms. Except this RIB Pain is Constant and have had 2 horrible attacks where I thought my Ribcage on R/side was going to crack. I Lay on the heating pad for about 45 minutes and it subsides or until I can get in a comfortable position. But yet I still experience sharp stabbing pains and sometimes I feel a fluttering right below the ribcage.
The heartburn got frequent and severe enough to seek medical attention . They put me on aciphex and did a gastoscopy , finding just an irritated stomach lining . Ever since then I have had nothing but tons of epigastric pain and into my back . They switched me to protonix 40mg twice a day but I have minimal relief . Also had my gallbladder removed about 4 yrs ago . Any ideas ? Please Help !!!

pylori bacteria in the digestive tract. The irony is, if you have ulcers and take Aciphex alone, the Aciphex could make the symptoms worse. Clearly something changed after taking the antibiotics, and now your ally in heartburn control has become your enemy. It might be worth getting back to your physician on this one, since antibiotics can often be a "swinging door", killing some bacteria while making it easier for other bacteria to get through that otherwise wouldn't have.
I take atenolol for the MVP and aciphex for the GERD. Do you have arrythmias as well? I know the tachicardia can be scary and frustrating. I would let your Dr know about the pain etc. It's always good to keep them informed. Wish I could help you more I just wanted to let you know you're not alone!!!

Tried prilosec, Protonix and aciphex. Now on dexilant 30 mg. Incredible nausea and headache. Am trying once every other day. So take in evening and next day very sick. Day after when don't take the pill feel much better but acid taste starts to come back. Why do these drugs cause nausea. Tried pepcid and Zantac and got very bad headaches. Any suggestions? Don't know where to turn.
also had colonoscopy and endoscopy (which did show mild gastritis and gerd). I know i should take comfort and relax but im still nervous and feel like the doctors have done all they feel that they should do. is a ct scan with contrast a reliable test for pancreatic cancer that would be causing symptoms?
I was then referred to a Gastroentrologist. I then had an endoscopy which showed some gastritis and a hiatal hernia. The GI doctor then wanted to complete an ERCP which is a detailed and more in dept endoscopy to check for possible bile duct stone. Again nothing...I am lost for words now. The GI doctor is also confused. The pain is so bad it literally feels as if an elephant is sitting on my chest. I start to excessively sweat and feel like I going to pass out when the pain comes.
I quit PPIs 5 weeks ago. I had taken them for 13 years, every day, sometimes having to double dose for severe symptoms, or add antiacids. I've had gastric ulcers and esophageal spasms as well as gastritis and esophagitis. I don't drink or smoke, and I have gradually gained weight throughout the 13 years.
The GE did an endoscopy and said I had GERD and gastritis. He prescribed Aciphex, and did blood work and sent for a biopsy -- neither turned up anything unexpected. I told him about the blood and my colon cancer fear; he didn't suspect colon cancer and said blood was probably a hemorrhoid -- which we could follow up on it after adressing the GERD and gastritis.
Now, acidy feeling is gone and appetitie is fine. The problem is abdominal discomfort/cramping.
The only thing the test found was some gastritis. He put me on Aciphex for my gastritis, which i guess helps a little. He also put me on Duotabs? it helps with stomach cramps i guess? but i'm not sure if it helps or not.. any advice on that as well? anyway, A few days later i had some nuclear medicine, including the HIDA scan. That was painful, as i'm sure a lot of you can understand. My ejection fraction was at 17%, and I was officially diagnosed with biliary dyskinesia.
