Avatar m tn I was wondering if calcium supplement can hinder the absorption of hrt..also when is the best time to take hrt..
Avatar n tn Generally speaking tablets take up to 20 to 30 minutes to digest and then go through the absorption process, liquids tend to take 10 minutes or so. The whole process of absorption is much better.
Avatar m tn We did see the ENT and he looked and said it was irritated so we started him on zantac. He has been refusing milk and cheese. He loves Broccoli. I wondered about thyroid but the nurse practitioner said it was good. Could a milk allergy or absorption problem cause these symptoms? He talked later than normal and had speech therapy for a year. His speech is good now but misses still a couple of letters. thriving in school just seems to be tired and pale a lot of the time.
Avatar n tn Almond milk is yummy and has more calcium than milk
Avatar n tn I found Magnesium helped with the aches and pains and with the Vitimin D , I took a combined Calcium/Vitamin D tablet. As they say that Vitamin D helps the Calcium to absorb. This was all ok'd by my Doctor as I have the vitamin deficiencies checked prior to taking anything. I was also told not to take any vitamins until at least 4 hours after the thyroxin.
Avatar f tn s over 20 during pregnancy... The main concern with too much calcium is calcium inhibits iron absorption so too much can lead to anemia. If you take prenatals with iron try to take them either an hour before or two hours after consuming larger quantities of dairy products.
Avatar f tn s why we usually take calcium (and other vitamins/meds) at night and the thyroid meds in the morning. If you are on calcium for heart problems and need to take it more often (and find the 4 hours impossible to work around) talk to your endo. The calcium prevents proper absorption of the thyroid meds so your meds may need to be increased as long as you are taking the calcium regime. Make sense?
Avatar f tn t have a huge affect, but you should drink regular water, instead of the Evian, since both calcium and magnesium affect absorption of thyroid hormones and could result in the need for higher dosages.
874521 tn?1424116797 Vitamin D will help the absorption of both calcium and phosphorus while vitamin B6 will increase magnesium retention. What i suggest to you is the Ester-C vitamin C which contain calcium and a vitamin B complex both bought from a food supplement store and a vitamin D as well.
1654177 tn?1319838494 PPIs can affect D3, Calcium and B12 absorption, perhaps moreso when used long term. But it is something to keep in mind for bone health as well as what one will feel like with ribavirin and ifn anyway and how one will use their supplements which themselves would need to be spaced from the PPI.
Avatar f tn Calcium, soy, cruciferous vegetables, and anything really is bad right before and right after synthroid medication. Calcium and soy is a no no, im afraid. I don't eat past 8pm and end up taking my Synthroid at 11pm. If you can take it before bed, its better. Flourise toothpaste also interferes with Synthroid.
335728 tn?1331414412 To add, vitamin D is essential for the absorption and utilisation of calcium. All the major minerals (calcium, potassium, sodium) are also dependent on magnesium being present in order to function. Statins are a listed cause of vitamin D deficiency as cholesterol is the precusor to vitamin D production.
Avatar f tn I found out that I am low on calcium and omega and everything else including selenium (accept vitamin C and H) is on the border +/-. How is this possible when I eat healthy and I take vitamin/minerals supplements? I even thought I should stop using supplements for a while because i don't want to get overdose. Is it possible that tea can affect vitamin/mineral absorption? I don't consume coffee or sugar for months for anxiety reasons.
Avatar n tn My GI explained to me because the H. Pylori bacteria was eradicated by antibiotics and Aciphex my stomach is now in a hyper acidic state and this is causing the water brash. Has anyone heard of this as a reason for water brash. I have read water brash is caused because of "minor" acid reflux. This means a small of acid backs up into the esophagus and the salivary glands as a defensive measure produces excess saliva and in some cases the sinuses produce mucos?
Avatar m tn Yes, most people know this. It's not specifically the dairy, it's the calcium that inhibits absorption of thyroid med. Calcium supplements should be separated from thyroid med by at least 4 hrs. You should also avoid uncooked cruciferous veggies, such as broccoli, cabbage, etc - these are called goitrogens; cooking them renders them harmless. There is a list of foods to avoid while on thyroid med. You might want to google it.

Avatar f tn Aside from that, make sure you eat plenty of calcium rich foods and/or take a supplement, as well as get plenty of vitamin D and magnesium, which are necessary for proper absorption of calcium.
Avatar f tn All medications and food will interact with it and cause less absorption. Take the 1 calcium in the morning at breakfast, and the other 2 before bedtime with some food. These times are the most critical for absorption. Night time is when we lay down calcium in the body. The rest will need to be regulated like this for example.......
Avatar m tn I connect a straight line between the taking of aciphex and the development of GERD. Is this a reasonable conclusion? or is there some other more likely explanation?
Avatar f tn My girlfriend had problems with calcium absorption and was taking 8 tablets (very large per day) later they added another tablet small to help with the absorption and the number of calcium she had to take was reduced. Sorry don't know the name of the tablet but I am sure your doctor will.
