Accutane withdrawal symptoms

Common Questions and Answers about Accutane withdrawal symptoms

accutane

Avatar m tn ve had a number of symptoms that lead me to believe I might have a thyroid problem or some sort of digestive disorder. My symptoms began after taking a cycle of accutane, which was 3 years ago. I'm a 24 year old male. Symptoms include: weight loss ( I was up to 160 right before accutane, lost 20-25 pounds in less than 2 months right after I stopped accutane, and am down to 120 currently) I feel like I have no muscle or fat on me. I'm always hungry but I can't gain a pound.
Avatar m tn Could I develop some of these serious side effects, my eczema has been pretty bad since then, lots of bad flare ups all over my body (is this a direct result of taking the accutane)? I also have very bad gas and my symptoms match that of Irratible bowle syndrome, is this a direct result of the accutane? Please help.
Avatar f tn I think after researching- I got my symtoms from several courses of Accutane medicine. Which they have pulled from the market. Any one else have the same problems from 10 yrs ago of using Accutane and what did you do to manage the IBS and stomach issues??
Avatar m tn I have taken a single course of roaccutane for 6months but with low doses and i have stopped this medictation 2years ago and thank god i have no problems with my digestive system but i have read alot about the IBS & IBD and that they are linked to accutane and that any accutane taker will develop IBS or IBD this is true??? and if what can i do to prevent this??
Avatar n tn Anyone here get their Crohn's after taking Accutane for acne ? Apparently an association has been found and some lawsuits are being successful. I got my first symptoms about two months after finishing the drug cycle. Just curious if anyone else experienced this with Accutane ?
Avatar n tn I finished taking accutane about 7 years ago. Now every pimple or mark i get, i get a scar. Its white and slighly raised. My question is, is it possible that accutane could affect your healing and make you prone to scarring permanently? I've heard durning the treatment and a couple years after your skin is thin and sensitive but not permanently. I would appreciate an answer as I am really depressed over this.
Avatar f tn I fear this drug has damaged my organs in some way, and have read that accutane/isotretinoin is associated with IBS. However, these are the only symptoms I'm having--and am hoping there might be another explanation for my symptoms. I'm scared. Is any of this reversible? This discussion is related to mucus in diarrhea.
Avatar n tn If that is the case, the doctor could have treated it with something other than accutane. How long have you been off accutane and how long have you been treated for depression/anxiety? Was it during the time you were on accutane or once off of it? My gut feeling is that once the accutane is completely out of your system, your depression and anxiety will get back to where they were before.
Avatar m tn It does sound like you have Accutane induced-Rosacea based on the flushing, redness, broken cappillaries symptoms. I and others know how frustrating this situation is having endured acne to end up with something else or more. The good news is you have found this forum and will find good information and support to help you find some relief. Things that you could look into and consider help decrease inflammation: * Oracea or low-dose Doxycycline (for p&ps).
Avatar m tn Appearance - I look ill, pale and sick. My skin color changes very easily depending on what type of lighting there is. If i for example go outside an autumn/winter day my face is extremely grayish/white. My eyes are very tired/staring looking with eyelids hanging and dark rings. I have never seen anyone else that looks like this, perhaps only a few people that look similar. Brain - It feels like my brain and thinking is blocked.
Avatar n tn I took Accutane in the fall of 2004 and I experienced severe hair loss. (I'm a girl). My hair came out in handfulls for about 6 months. The large amount of hair that usually falls out after washing or brushing hair was falling out every half an hour if i ran my fingers through my hair. I lost about 60% of my hair. It stopped for a few months and started again for a few months to a lesser degree though. And now, 3.5 years later, it stills falls out more frequently than it should.
Avatar n tn I tend to believe that I had lupus before taking it, but simply had no symptoms beyond mild fatigue, and that the Accutane acted as a catalyst for even worse symptoms. I would say that most joint pain caused by the Accutane is probably from it aggravating some preexisting condition. I suppose it could be possible that Accutane itself does something to your body, perhaps ruins your joints even if you're completely healthy to start with, but I've yet to find research regarding this.
Avatar n tn I literally felt like some kind of monster. I’ve been off accutane for 7 months and some symptoms have gotten better (my lips aren’t so chapped, my mood is better, and my skin isn’t so sensitive) but I am still having issues with vaginal lubrication. The only time it’s tolerable for sex is during ovulation and it sometimes gets a little wet. It’s embarrassing and it makes me not want to have sex. My skin looks amazing. I’m confident everywhere else except the bedroom.
Avatar f tn t seem like it is enough for my son, though. His fingers and feet are still hurting. He started Accutane (20/every other day) in September. I am just trying to figure out if anything is connected and if we should be doing anything else. I don't figure we would give him any Raynaud's meds, even if they were offered by a doctor, but I would hate to not notice if he has some other illness.
14245424 tn?1433562141 Before Accutane I was able to speak in front of people without these symptoms and i would just get the odd dry mouth or something. I was able to sit in a room full of people without burning up or shaking and my stomach was perfectly normal! These symptoms are really affecting my life as i hate speaking in front of people, or going near people/large amount of people that make my face go red and make my body go all nervous.
Avatar n tn And yes, they even say that there are lawsuits going on regarding use of Accutane and CD starting up. The warnings for Accutane are very similar to that of 2-butoxyethanol. They also comment on malabsorption, lipid & cholesterol issues, fever, and that autoimmune action on the red blood cells as autoimmune hemolytic anemia is very often present AND that it was more common in the 20s and 30s for those who cleaned a lot (the upper classes).
1518347 tn?1290837751 Hi there.. I am currently on my way to the 2nd month of my Accutane course. I take 10mg 3x a day for my acne. On the first month, I was experiencing rashes at the back of my hands, dry lips, nose bleeds and other minor symptoms. But now, as I'm approaching my second month. I have these weird feeling in my stomach.. It is not painful in any way but it make me feel very uncomfortable. I feel full and it is always bloated. Should I be worried about this? Thanks.
Avatar n tn My 15-year old son is in his 4th month of Accutane. He just completed his 3rd day of football practice and is experiencing severe pain in his hips. He insists that the pain is not muscular. (He is an avid cyclist and has ridden over 100 miles on his bicycle and competed in Olympic distance triathlons, so he understands muscular-related pain.) So, what could be causing the hip pain and/or do you think that there is a high probability that it is related to the Accutane? Thanks.
Avatar m tn I'm not sure if these symptoms are of an STD or a UTI, but I'm at a loss so I posted this in both forums (I'm sorry). 17 year old male. On August 1st I received oral sex from someone who claims they have never been sexually active (and I also hadn't been sexually active before then). Around August 13th started getting a mild irritation around tip of penis which doc said was due to drying out from accutane, which I started taking in mid-july for my acne.
Avatar f tn ve been on accutane and present some worrisome symptoms (severe pounding headaches, dizziness, vision blur, sometimes nausea), but my opthamologist saw no papilladema, so at this point it's kind of a mystery as to why I have been experiencing this for the past month. I have been off accutane for a month now. I did get prescribed glasses to see if wearing them reduces symptoms, but I'm just very nervous about this!
Avatar n tn I've only been on Accutane (actually, a generic brand of it) for ten days, and I experienced my first migraine on day 9. I am unsure if the migraine could be connected to Accutane, but I did a little research and some instances of migraines have been reported by Accutane users. I am just uncertain because I haven't been on it very long, but I am already experiencing dry lips, so I suppose I could be experiencing other side effects already, too.
Avatar f tn I have to wear the glasses and stay off accutane for 3 more weeks and then I go back to see if the symptoms have improved. If not he's going to order more tests to make sure there's not anything going on in my brain.
