accutane

1155893 tn?1263018015 Hey, My dermo gave me Retin A cream to go along with my accutane. She said it would help clear up some of the dark spots I had on my skin from the acne. Will this help? What is this stuff usually used for ?

Avatar n tn I have had a problem with acne all my life and took a course of Accutane in my early twenties. I was acne free for 10 years, but then it came back and I developed tiny bumps under my eyes that my dermatologist said were syringoma (after a year of treating it as acne with retin-a and antibiotics). As usual, the antibiotics and retin-a did not do anything to treat my acne problems, so I have begun a new course of Accutane.

Avatar f tn Hello there, I am very worried that I may have accidentally harmed my baby without realizing it. I have used retin A for years for acne and wrinkles all over my face, and on my back and chest. I have used .1%. I found out at about 3 weeks pregnant that it can cause birth defects. I have stopped using it of course, but I am so scared. Studies on the internet say many different things. I welcome any thoughts for my situation. Thanks!
Avatar m tn I have been using Retin A until I found that I'm pregnant. I didn't know that a pregnant lady shouldn't use Retin A. Now, I'm 10weeks already and I stop using it when I was 5 weeks. What should I do? would it harm my baby? What are the birth defect that would cause to my baby? Please reply asap as this is very urgent to me. Thanks a million.
Avatar n tn is it ok to use tetracycline, retin-a, and hydroquinone togther as part of a daily routine, and whats the best sunscreen lotion?
Avatar f tn Angebelle, thanks for your reply. That is good news about the Retin-A. I am going to a dermatologist in a few weeks, and and am going to ask for it. I always thought it was only for acne, so wish I knew sooner! I appreciate your descriptions about your Mom's skin. In the meantime, I will use my Vichy, which is highly rated, but as you say, is not prescription strength.. Thanks, so glad I am not smoking. If anyone has any comments on smoking damage and retinol, I'd appreciate it!!
Avatar n tn How much scarring does a patient have before undertaking something as costly as a peel? Is Accutane still prescribed in the US or it is not prescribed anymore? Thank you.
Avatar n tn My palms/inner hands also became very peely and would go from extremely sweaty/oily to extremely dry. When I got to college freshman year, I began using clindamycin and retin-a-micro on my skin. I used no products on my hands and they became better. The facial products turned my face red and I began to get bad cystic acne on my face, right next to my nose and on the sides of my chin. A year or so later, I used accutane, but only for 3 months or so.
Avatar n tn I am Using Retin-a-Micro-but it does not seem to be helping. can it be from a lack of vitamins or minerals?
Avatar f tn My doctor didnt give me the impression that there was much I needed to be worried about. All I was told was to take it with a full glass of water 2x a day. Are there severe side effects that I need to worry about while taking this antibiotic?
Avatar f tn I am currently using clindamycin 1% twice a day as well as benzoyl peroxide 10% in the morning and retin-a .025% before bed. I wash my face twice a day and after I sweat with a salicylic acid wash. I use a clean facial scrub brush to wash my face and help with exfoliation. I change my pillow case every night and never touch my face. I have listed the different medications I have tried in the past at the bottom of this post.
Avatar f tn No matter what the level of retinol in a product, you do need to take the same careful approach to initially using this ingredient as you would with a stronger, Retin A version. Too often retinol is mistaken as being gentle to the skin but you too can develop irritation if you don’t start out using it wisely. Additionally, you need a hydration layer (eye cream) on top of the Retinol to retain moisture.
948202 tn?1245941816 Hello. I have been using retin-a 3 times a week and sulfacetamide 3 times a week (alternating each night). I just so happened to start reading the information for retin-a and it says, "if you have recently used products containing sulfur....use tretinoin with caution." Do i have something to be worried about?
Avatar n tn The thing with this rash is that it itches like crazy and its not going away with retin-A or an itch reliever cream like elcolm all given to me by my derm. I am running out of solutions. I also was diagnosed with hsv-2 in July 2011 and have been taking 500mg a day of valtrex. I asked my derm. if this could be herpes related and all she said is, "it could be if he was rubbing his affected area on the back of your neck". Please help.
Avatar n tn Exfoliation, intensive moisturizing cremes, lac-hydrin, Retin A and medicated lotions containing alpha hydroxy acids or urea may be used to temporarily improve the appearance and texture of affected skin. Also, beta hydroxy acids can help improve the appearance and texture of the afflicted skin. ref:http://en.wikipedia.
Avatar m tn I am confused, as retin A cream is said to cause the skin to thin, and applying the cream is supposed to generate collegen which I though thickened the skin. Could you pleas explain? thank you.
Avatar n tn I suspect it is too harsh as complaints about increased wrinkles from retin A are just a google away. It sounds like it's just too drying. The last thing you want is to be pulling at your eyes because they feel tight and itchy. Maybe try something with vitamin C. That seems to soften fine lines well, but do not get it in your eyes because it has enough acid to cause a burning sensation.
Avatar m tn Maybe your dermatologist should consider switching you to a lower concentration of Retin-A, or to a different treatment altogether if your dryness is still tough to handle. Best. Dr.
Avatar n tn The risk of birth defects from getting too much vitamin A is the reason that pregnant women and those trying to conceive should stay away from the prescription acne drug isotretinoin (also known by the brand name Accutane, among others) and other drugs related to retinol (a compound of vitamin A), including topical tretinoin (Retin-A), which is used for skin conditions.
Avatar m tn I have been taking Retin A about an year now, and my skin has improved a lot. So, when I started I had this ugly period as expected. But, recently I feel, I am going through the same ugly period, and my skin looks darker every time I use Retin A. So, should I stop it or is it just another ugly period that will go away, after some time?
Avatar n tn So I wouldnt take any vitamins with Vitamin A in it, but you can still eat oranges and have orange juice just remember accutane already has a lot of vitamin a in it. You are fine to still take it, thats what your doctor prescribed so I'm sure they thought that was best.
