Accutane side effects joints

Common Questions and Answers about Accutane side effects joints

accutane

80% of patients require just one course lasting 16 to 24 weeks, but 20% of us need a second or third course. Accutane has many potential side effects but this must be balanced against the fact that it is your best hope of a long term remission from acne. The most common side effects are: dry lips, sore eyes, reddened fragilised skin and muscle or joint pain. For dry lips I recommend Elizabeth Arden 8 hour cream.
I have been on Accutane twice and joint pain is a common and normal side affect. Its a VERY powerful drug and they prepare you for the side affects before you are allowed on the medicine. Accutane changed my life but I did suffer massive side affects. Its a risk you have to WANT to take. They say it leaves your body in 30 days, I say it takes longer.
You have to get a pregnancy test once a month yes that's right if you become pregnant you can not keep the baby it will be severely deformed and blood to make sure your liver is ok. There's nothing mild about the side effects it will severely dry out your skin. dry skin and mucous membranes, headache, increased liver enzymes, disturbances in the composition of the blood (eg increased cholesterol, triglycerides, blood sugar; decreased red blood cells, white blood cells, platelets), pain in the muscles and joints, mood changes, hair loss or visual disturbances. It is advised when taking this medication to monitor their blood and liver enzymes because of this effect. However, ironj deficiency anemia can go back after stopping the medication.
I was wondering what kind of side effects are common with athletes who are in training while on accutane. More specifically i was wondering about reduction speed, join/muscle pains, any associated muscle weakness, and also if it is possible to see any gains within a training regiment while on the drug? Also i was wondering if the side effects are reversible or not?
First of all, I can't believe doctors are still prescribing this stuff! From personal experience, these are all the side effects of Accutane. And it sounds like your system may be more sensitive than others. To combat the achy joints, constipation/gas, and add'l skin breakouts, drink lots of water. When you think you've consumed enough, drink more. You need to keep hydrated, even if it means waking up in the middle of night to go to the bathroom!
Hello, There are some effects of accutane on the joints which include joint stiffness, joint pain, muscle aches, decreased blood cells and bone marrow depression. I suggest you to discuss these side effects with your dermatologist before you start with the treatment. It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor.
Care must be taken when prescribing to adolescent patients who have not finished growing. Due to the many reported side effects, accutane is reserved for patients with nodular acne or acne conglobata which is at risk of scarring or causing psychological problems. Before considering accutane patients should try oral oxytetracycline which is effective at clearing many types of acne including rosacea and peri-oral dermatitis.
I should also say that I was on accutane twice when I was younger. I didn't have any side effects other than dry skin-but I was an adult so bone growth wasn't a concern. I never had any of the depression problems that some associate with accutane. I need some advice..I know the pain he is enduring every day at school and I want to help him..is accutane the answer?
Accutane is out of your body 5 weeks after your last pill, so side effects should not continue after this. Also, many side effects lessen as your body gets used to the medication. It is not possible to say how you will react to a medication you have not taken before. My advice would be to try Accutane, you can always lower the dose or stop taking it if necessary. Accutane is your best hope of a long term remission from acne.
For back pain and other side effects of Accutane, people have found the supplements to take to counteract these side effects: Here are some posts from the internet: "Anyway, the maintenance dose works, but after a year and a half of taking Accutane I was becoming less tolerant of the side effects of even a maintenance dose (headaches, excessive dryness, etc.). Well, I have managed to combat the headaches and excessive dryness by increasing my Vitamin E intake from 400-800 I.U.

Advice for those who are going to take accutane! it might be a wonder drug for some people but also on the other hand it might not work for some. if you are feeling any pains(or side effects) due to the drug. don't neglect them.
Is it like saying just taking longer birth control pills? What are the side effects? What are the benefits? Has FDA approved? Where i can search more about Yaz? Will it affect my future plan of having a healthy pregnancy? Also, i was told if i do want to get pregnant, i should wait 6 months after taking the birth control pills. is that true?

in dec 2012 i took sotret(isotretinoin)20 mg for 4 months for blackheads(not severe) on my nose and yes! it was prescribed by a dermatologist.the side effects appeared after 5 months of finishing the course.i called back the dermatologist to discuss any possibility of a link between these symptoms the dermatologist replied in negative and told me to discuss these symptoms with a joint specialist.for which i dont have the money or time.
accutane is a bad drug. worse than the zits. it has many horrible side effects, i agree with barfer. i was on it while young, it can cause bad stuff, it dries up the joints, causes your hair to fall out etc... YOU WILL BE FINE when it is out of system time will heal....and as jsgeare says therapy is key. i am not trivializing severe skin problems but if you dont have big honkin puss oozing boils on your face and back. your doc should not put you on accutane.
I stopped a six month accutane therapy 2 years ago and side effects are still very bad, even worse. Every morning, when I wake up my skin is peeling. It is so fragile it is constantly breaking up (even if I use a gentle face wash) I have tried all sorts of moisturizers and there is no improvement. My dermatologist told me there is nothing I can do but I can't believe it. It is not a regular dry skin, it is sick in a kind of way. What can I do ?
The treament went excelently and the end result is amazing. During the treatment i had some side effects such as sore joints, dry skin ect...So it is now 5 weeks after the treatment has finished and my skin is clear and i am happy. But there is one thing i am worried about. A few days or so after i stopped treatment I started having random itches underneath my skin. Theese itches would only occur when my body temperature would raise.
And while on Accutane there are many side effects. I remember one in particular was anal bleeding. The drug dried me out and I was miserable while on it. I did it twice and it did not cure my acne. It sounds like you acne is mild to moderate and you should probably not take any serious drugs for it. I have been on many drugs and used creams, and out of everything I have done the natural approach has worked the best.
I am currentyl on erythromicin and I am not enjoying the side effects. I'm sure the side effects of Acutane are far worse and my doctor wants to put me on Acutane if the current treatment does not work. Is there anything else I can do besides Acutane? I'm scared of the side effects it will bring. At the same time, my acne makes me very insecure and I want to find a remedy very soon!!!!!! HELP!!!
I'm also interested in taking Accutane but would wait if there will be something as effective with less side effects. I haven't been able to get any info yet confirming this, maybe you could find out or maybe the doctor here could tell us if he knows.

ACCUTANE PEOPLE, HAVE YOU EVER TAKEN ACCUTANE IN YOUR PAST? It has horrible LATENT side effects, we're talking YEARS after ingestion. Log onto one of the Accutane sites to find out more.
You might have to follow a strict lifestyle and diet plan... But it's a lot better than permanent life lasting side effects caused by accutane such as PERMANENT ... yes permanent chronic for the rest of your life and existence here on Earth damage. To your eyes, hair follicles, joints. And some other damage such as liver damage.... Try this instead. My background is that I have had acne for 10 years, and have tried many things. But finally a solution!
Minocycline has a good track record for safety but not everyone reacts favourably to medications and rare side effects do occur. How much minocyline are you taking and can you stop taking it and live with the acne? And have you seen a doctor about your acute anxiety? At your age I do not think ALS would be the problem but get checked to give you a sense of relief that it is nothing but anxiety.
Like many here, if you cannot get a diagnosis (there is no diagnostic test for Accutane's latent side effects)you might look to Accutane as the culprit for all your strange aches, pains, breathing problems. The forum has all the info you need. Huge lawsuits are pending all over the world. Inform yourself.
When the dr questioned me on why I wanted the device removed I told him the story. Do you know what he said to me ? That these are not side effects of the Mirena. BULLSH.IT !! I see it as my body did everything it could to fight off this foreign object inside of me. That day he asked me when the last time i had an infection and I told him just on Monday that I was itching. So he took a culture and what a surprise I had a bacterial infection !!

I switched because I found I was having side effects within the past 6 months or so - same thing happened with my sister - no side effects until a couple years in... weird. What I was experiencing was night sweats occasionally (my sister was getting them every night - and couldn't handle it - so she went off) It was annoying but not bad. Then I noticed a decrease in sex drive, and a few other things that i feel may have been associated, but I'm not sure.
