Avatar n tn I'm on accutane since 10 weeks, I feel dryness all over body, but since last 2 weeks I notices red patch on penis shaft which is not painful or burning/hurting, is this because of accutane, I'm sure that not related to any STD, I'm applying coconut oil when going to bed, but still its red
Avatar m tn They are probably too harsh if you stay on the Accutane, but I wish I could have tried tea tree oil or white vinegar when I had oily skin and breakouts. Didn't know about those. I never tried Accutane.
Avatar f tn I think after researching- I got my symtoms from several courses of Accutane medicine. Which they have pulled from the market. Any one else have the same problems from 10 yrs ago of using Accutane and what did you do to manage the IBS and stomach issues??
8812528 tn?1400857632 I'm on Accutane and to use the medicine I have to get my blood work done every month. Since being on Accutane my triglycerides have been acting up. The first 3/4 months I was mid to high 200's, but this past month I was at 733.
Avatar n tn Hi. Accutane works by shrinking the sebaceous (oil) glands in the skin. They grow back very slowly, by which time the patient has nearly always outgrown their tendency for acne. Accutane can also affect hair, lips, eyes, nose and vagina. Skin can be fragile for up to 6 months after finishing Accutane. However, it is very unusual to still be experiencing vaginal dryness after a year. Have you changed anything else, method of birth control for example?
Avatar n tn My daughter is on accutane and has extremly dry, cracked and bloody hands and lips, and her face is very dry. We have tried many different ointments and other lotions, nothing is working. What do you think we should use?
Avatar m tn I have been taking accutane for 7 months now. 20 mg first month, 40 next, then 80 which is my current dose. I have a predicted one more month to go(and it has been helping). A few months ago I noticed my hair was getting thinner. I asked my doctor about it and he said he did not know anything about accutane causing hair loss. I have researched it and found that it does. I was just wondering if it is in my case.
Avatar n tn Hi. Accutane is prescribed for severe acne which has not responded to an adequate (normally 2 years) course of oral antibiotics and topical treatment. It is not intended to be given as a first line treatment, and is not indicated for acne occuring before puberty. Care must be taken when prescribing to adolescent patients who have not finished growing.
Avatar n tn A year or so later, I used accutane, but only for 3 months or so. The accutane reduced the cysts but made my skin very dry, particularly on my forehead and lips. I stopped using accutane due to the side effects and basically gave up on my skin. For the next two years my forehead continued to have very dry, dead looking skin on it and my skin had moderate-severe acne.
Avatar n tn How much scarring does a patient have before undertaking something as costly as a peel? Is Accutane still prescribed in the US or it is not prescribed anymore? Thank you.
Avatar f tn try pure olive oil unfragranced soap and colloidal silver/coconut oil shampoos
Avatar n tn dry skin and mucous membranes, headache, increased liver enzymes, disturbances in the composition of the blood (eg increased cholesterol, triglycerides, blood sugar; decreased red blood cells, white blood cells, platelets), pain in the muscles and joints, mood changes, hair loss or visual disturbances. It is advised when taking this medication to monitor their blood and liver enzymes because of this effect. However, ironj deficiency anemia can go back after stopping the medication.
Avatar n tn I had typical acne from an early age (11 years old) and received Roacutane (same as Accutane I think) when I was 15 years old. It worked a treat but 9months after I had finished treatment the acne returned. Over the years I have been on 3 treatments of Roacutane for about 18months each with the same result about 9 months later.
Avatar f tn I was on Accutane for 6 months @ 20mg daily. I have been off for 7 months and the pain in my joints and bones has only gotten worse! I'm worried the drug is still in my body as I'm STILL suffering all the symptoms (dry eyes, dry/itchy scalp, joint/bone pain). PLEASE help me! I used to be an athelete. I had to quit all physical activity including my waitressing job because I simply cannot move. A stroll in the park leaves me stiff and aching.
463575 tn?1211302688 I read about many natural treatments like apple cider vinegar, baking soda masks, clay, and stumbled across honey+turmeric masks and moisturising with oil (I use jojoba oil). Coming off Accutane and introducing the vegan lifestyle flared my skin up very badly (I read about this being a healing crisis) and after reaching a peak it gradually calmed down, with less and less breakouts. I really hope ingesting turmeric now will speed up the process!
Avatar f tn I regularly see a dermatologist for my acne and am currently taking my second course of accutane (I am in my second week on 40mg of Amnesteem). When I saw my dermatologist 2 weeks ago to get my accutane prescription I asked her about the dryness around my nose that had been there nearly a month and would not go away despite my cetaphyl and aquafor moisturizing attempts.
Avatar f tn Night blindness (reduced ability to see in low light) Impaired immunity, susceptibility to infections Rough, dry skin, including hyperkeratosis pilaris (rough bumps on the backs of the arms) Gut damage (which many acne sufferers have - see “Probiotic” for another supplement that might be useful) Strenuous exercise and other stressors (ie lots of stress) Alcohol consumption Zinc deficiency Consumption of polyunsaturated fats (vegetable oils such as canola oil, sunflower oil, safflower oil, co
Avatar n tn I've only been on Accutane (actually, a generic brand of it) for ten days, and I experienced my first migraine on day 9. I am unsure if the migraine could be connected to Accutane, but I did a little research and some instances of migraines have been reported by Accutane users. I am just uncertain because I haven't been on it very long, but I am already experiencing dry lips, so I suppose I could be experiencing other side effects already, too.
Avatar f tn Hi. Accutane increases the risk of liver problems so avoid too much alcohol whilst taking this medicine. Eloise.
Avatar n tn I always thought that I just had an eye tic, but lately I realized that there might actually be a problem with my eyes. They're always tearing and burning, and forget about trying to wear makeup. It gets worse when i'm watching tv, or on the computer or something. I went to the eye doctor and he said I had clogged oil glands or something? Which is probably caused by the accutane I'm taking.
Avatar m tn Take accutane, i'm 17 now and went on it when I was 16 and it worked wonders and keeps tje acne away, I had moderate acne and oily skin too....I play Major Junior hockey and it didn't affect my play in a negative bodily way, it boosted my confidence if anything!......I did a 4 month treatment of it on a lower dose so I would reccommend that, higher doses are for sever cases like grade 4 or between 3 and 4.....
Avatar m tn Other necessary precautions are to avoid exposure to UV rays, avoid too much alcohol, and not to take tetracycline antibiotics whilst on Accutane or for 5 weeks afterwards. Female Accutane patients must use two forms of contraception whilst on Accutane and for 5 weeks afterwards. Male patients do not need to abstain from unprotected sex but must not donate blood in case it is given to a pregnant women.
Avatar n tn 17 year old daughter having stomach issues, just got a positive test for celiac, has bad acne, derm wants to put her on accutane. I am worried about the accutane and her stomach. Not sure celiac is only cause of stomach aches. Also birth control pill used to control acne, then she went off and it came back worse than ever. She is back on the pill for almost 3 months and it is not working. Why?
