I am not a doctor but I did work as a pharmacy tech for 4 years, and personally it scared the heck out of me all the warning labels we had to put on Accutane. If you only have mild acne I'm surprised your doctor would prescribe this medication unless it really bothers you and you have exhausted all other avenues. For a lot of people acne, especially just mild acne, is just part of life. Good luck to you whatever you choose!
My daughter has been on Accutane for 2 months. While her acne is mild, we put her on this due to my hx of cystic acne at age 22 which was completely responsive to accutane. My question is , she has not seen much change . She is still breaking out, and states zits are larger than in past, but do reslve more quickly She was on accutane once in past with immediate response in first month. Dr just increased dosage. What can we expect in terms of response?
s opinion on the effectiveness of Accutane on smaller acne heads. My acne is on my face, neck, back, and chest. There are not very many big acne heads (I have benzoyl peroxide5%, Differin 3%, and Minocyclin 100 mg twice a day). These medications play a big part in my not having many big zits.
Anyways, I have lots of little acne heads all over. How effective is Accutane at getting rid of these heads and keeping them off? (from your experience or from official sources)

I took Accutane in the fall of 2004 and I experienced severe hair loss. (I'm a girl). My hair came out in handfulls for about 6 months. The large amount of hair that usually falls out after washing or brushing hair was falling out every half an hour if i ran my fingers through my hair. I lost about 60% of my hair. It stopped for a few months and started again for a few months to a lesser degree though. And now, 3.5 years later, it stills falls out more frequently than it should.

Nothing is to be done except for washing your face with a mild soap like Dove or Cetaphil and applying a non perfumed mild hypoallergenic moisturizer.

I have had persistent but fairly mild acne since I was 18 (almost 11 years now). Last year I gave in and went onto accutane for 8 months which transformed my skin from oily with constant but mild cystic acne (usually on my chin) to zero spots and just a slight oiliness. However, since lockdown I’ve noticed my skin has changed again on my chin. The pores on my chin and sometimes a few around my nose are constantly clogged and bumpy.
while at the same time diminishing P acne populations. Could it be surmissed that this atmosphere is the cause? Do the P acne bacterium levels have a regulatory affect on the levels of staph in the skin? I have read about a few other cases where accutane users developed scalp folliculitis after treatment. Do you see a correlation? Is the topical antibiotic enough? Does staph have to enter through broken skin to cause an infection, or can its prescence on top of the skin be enough?
s been incredibly difficult to watch my face slowly scar over these past two years. Although I had mild acne before the stroke, it was never on this level. 17 year old daughter having stomach issues, just got a positive test for celiac, has bad acne, derm wants to put her on accutane. I am worried about the accutane and her stomach. t tried any topical or antibiotic prescriptions, and my acne is not severe, they thought accutane would be best as a first measure because it will knock out the acne, which will mean no additional scars. I was not well informed by my dermatologist about what I can expect my scarring to be like during the course of the accutane. She just said that if we stop the acne, we stop the scarring, then several months after we can look into their array of scar treatments.
My father had severe acne until he took accutane for 3 months at a high dose without recieving any negative side effects, which cleared up 90 percent of the acne. My mother didnt have acne. absolutely love it i must say! But i was beginning 2 wonder about the mild acne im discovering! I believe its from estrogen imbalance because i've done some research and my doctor told me mirena has estrogen in it. Of course i didnt think too much of it because i didnt have acne before. I tried all types of acne products even proactiv..nothing seems to work for me...
I regularly see a dermatologist for my acne and am currently taking my second course of accutane (I am in my second week on 40mg of Amnesteem). When I saw my dermatologist 2 weeks ago to get my accutane prescription I asked her about the dryness around my nose that had been there nearly a month and would not go away despite my cetaphyl and aquafor moisturizing attempts.
5 mg for one year and 1 mg for 1 year till today), In october 2016 my derm put me on accutane 10 mg and minoxiline(100mg) for treating my mild acne, I had been drinking heavily for 5 days before starting my accutane course, 10 days into the course, I started to have Gyno(Unilateral, right breast with a movable tender lump), I dropped accutane and minoxiline and also propecia after 23 days. It has been a month now but my Gyno hasnt reduced, I restarted propecia as I was starting to lose hair.
Hello. I have been on Accutane for the last 5 months. My acne is clearing and I have no new breakouts, however I have lots of red marks where the acne was (post inflamatory hyperpigmentation possibly?)? Anyway, I was just curious if blue light or red light treatment would help, and can I use the light treatment while on Accutane? If not, what else could I do to reduce the appearance of the red marks? The acne is on my chest and is very hard to look at.
