Accutane is known to cause problems in skeletal system of growing teens. I took it around the same age as your son and had severe pain. I called "Rosche" the company that makes Accutane and they said it can stunt growth in teens by closing the epiphyseal plates prematurely. I'm 21 now and my height of 5'7'' hasn't increased since my last cycle of Accutane. I also remember having severe joint and muscle pain after HS tennis practices. - 21 male.
The red skin which developes on the lump sheds off as dead skin. I have been perscribed endless antibiotics and am currently taking accutane for 16weeks 40mg a day, but nothing seems to be helping. I am wonder what the other options may be? Could it be an allergy or viral?
Take accutane, i'm 17 now and went on it when I was 16 and it worked wonders and keeps tje acne away, I had moderate acne and oily skin too....I play Major Junior hockey and it didn't affect my play in a negative bodily way, it boosted my confidence if anything!......I did a 4 month treatment of it on a lower dose so I would reccommend that, higher doses are for sever cases like grade 4 or between 3 and 4.....
I suffered the same fate due to Accutane. At one point the abdominal pain was so bad I thought it was better to end my life than to suffer the excrutiating pain. Fortunately, I researched alternative medicine to find some relief for the bowel pain and inflammation and came across Bromelain. It's an enzyme extracted from pineapple and it has helped me tremendously.
I took accutane when I was 18 and again when I was 19. The second time around I developed such severe joint pain that I could not get out of bed. Over ten years later I still am in the same pain. I have been to several doctors...no one can tell me what the cause is or how to stop it. I have been on so many meds over the years trying to help the pain that I couldn't even name them all. All I know is that it all started with accutane use.
For the past few months, I have been getting a weird clicking noise in my head when I run or walk, It seems to stop if i clench my jaw but it it quite worrying and the only way I can describe it is its like something is loose inside my head when im walking, I also suffer from anxiety symptoms such as:
Numbness in my left lower leg
Numbness accross my chest which goes towards my left arm, sometimes down the entire left arm also
Random headaches that can effect either side of my head, but mostly
The thing that caught my eye was right at the very end of your post. Accutane. There has been a LOT of talk lately about Accutane causing severe gastro problems that sound a lot like what you've been experiencing with that. These problems, apparently, can show up YEARS after having taken the Accutane.
I don't know that the Accutane could explain ALL of your symptoms, but it very well may explain the GI issues and I would definitely mention it to and ask your GI doc about it.
I took Accutane in the fall of 2004 and I experienced severe hair loss. (I'm a girl). My hair came out in handfulls for about 6 months. The large amount of hair that usually falls out after washing or brushing hair was falling out every half an hour if i ran my fingers through my hair. I lost about 60% of my hair. It stopped for a few months and started again for a few months to a lesser degree though. And now, 3.5 years later, it stills falls out more frequently than it should.
My 16 1/2 year old son has been on Accutane (60mg per day) for 2 months. His blood tests show liver function is great and triglycerides have stayed low. I am worried, however, about his complaints with joint pain. He recently had x rays and an MRI done on his right knee (which was an issue b4 the accutane) and then got relief for that knee when it was drained of excess fluid. He complains that he feels like an old man, something is always hurting.
Now, this is not that big deal however, I have never experienced eye pain. Its not excrutiating pain however, it is discomfortable. I have visine and eye drops from previous outings of infection once. The advice was see a doctor. Obviously, the biggest concern is stroke, heart attack and permanent removal of all things in my life like the ability to walk.
I can say, nothing has helped the way accutane has. I got a hair cut and made the mistake of getting my hair texturized.
Has anyone ever experienced this before? I just started accutane (Claravis) 40 mg once daily. I took the first pill and a tension headache started about 40 mins later. This just got worse, no response to ibuprofen. I thought okay maybe not the drug and took the next pill. Headache got even worse the next day. I couldn’t even watch tv it was so painful. I contacted my doctor who told me to stop for a few days and start up again.
I started to notice that the head of my penis was sticking to my underwear. Upon inspection, I noticed the urethra tube was blood red. There is no pain associated with this. Nor, is there any discharge of any kind. Just feels sticky. I assumed it was part of the side-effects of Accutane as even my eyelids feel sticky at times. Therefore, I massaged some Aquaphor onto the head of my penis getting the tip of the tube moist. The redness went away by the next morning.
I took a 40mg dose of accutane for 6 months. I experienced horrible dryness, nightmares, back pain, it made me cranky, dry vagina, and I could barely scratch myself and my skin would just flake off. I literally felt like some kind of monster. I’ve been off accutane for 7 months and some symptoms have gotten better (my lips aren’t so chapped, my mood is better, and my skin isn’t so sensitive) but I am still having issues with vaginal lubrication.
Anyone here get their Crohn's after taking Accutane for acne ? Apparently an association has been found and some lawsuits are being successful. I got my first symptoms about two months after finishing the drug cycle. Just curious if anyone else experienced this with Accutane ?
t seem like it is enough for my son, though. His fingers and feet are still hurting. He started Accutane (20/every other day) in September. I am just trying to figure out if anything is connected and if we should be doing anything else. I don't figure we would give him any Raynaud's meds, even if they were offered by a doctor, but I would hate to not notice if he has some other illness.
I was on Accutane for nearly 8 months instead of the standard 5 month treatment. During the last 2-3 months of treatment, I began telling my doctor about pain in my stomach. He said it wasn't a problem and would resolve when I was done taking the drug. Well, I have been off of Accutane nearly a year, and am still having digestive problems, which I've never had before. I have had PERFECT digestion my whole life until this.
We never heard that some people who used accutane also developed keloids. He never had then before using accutane. He says now he wishes they never put him on it and he just dealt with having the acne he had back then. I feel bad for him. He lets it effect his life. He sees it as worse then others would see it but there is not convincing him of this. He tried the shots. They didn't do anything. Did the laser work for you?

There are different forms of Accutane. Nephew started with Accutane and it didn't help after 6 months. My sister sent him to another dermatologist and she said, "No, you need on a different form of Accutane." It worked. Was on it for 1 year and has the best complex now. Ask about the different forms of Accutane.
