accutane

Avatar n tn I feel like you be right that it is a gram-ve folliculitis, but will the only thing to get rid of it be an antibiotic or will just using a topical like proactive do the trick beacuse it has done ok in the past. I am not going on accutane for just a rash on my forehead.
Avatar n tn My girlfriend is 4 weeks pregnant(Conception was sometime the last full week of May). She was taking the acne medicine Accutane until the last week of April(Accutane causes severe birth defects and conception was not intended,) Everything we have read says that the medicine is out of your system within 7-10 days but that you should wait at least one month before trying to conceive.
Avatar f tn Accutane was pulled off the market in 2009. I find it alarming that this drug is back on the market again. Accutane side effects include Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) which include Accutane induced Crohn’s Disease or Ulcerative Colitis; Having your colon removed; Severe depression or suicidal tendencies; Heart attack, stroke, seizure or lowered blood cell count. And there are many other side effects of Accutane mentioned in many comments online and includes joint pain.
Avatar m tn I got scars like Brad Pitt even though I am healthy, fit, active, lean, low body fat, full abs 6pack. It saddens me to go through this. Basically, I lost family in a accident about a year ago. No doctors will prescribe accutane for me. I tried organics, diets name it, Atkins, low gymcemic, no bread, no dairy or sugar or flour, low glycemic, anti inflammatory, even a natural pathic doctor priced at $125/hr. Little to no help. Temporary relief.
Avatar n tn I know that ProActive is a good one, tends to dry out your skin though. I took Accutane way back in the day, don't even know if they still have that on the market, it helped so much. I have heard that high doses of Vitamin D also help, I have heard that, haven't tried it. Ask your doctor first.
Avatar m tn t know, is that Accutane is a highly toxic chemotherapeutic agent and can permanently change the body in a variety of ways. Accutane in some patients, can cause permanent erectile dysfunction and low libido even after the medication is discontinued. Accutane can also cause permanent depression and joint pain, along with many other side effects.
Avatar f tn 3) Although I have no opinion about it, I know some people think this next thing could lead to depression. I took Accutane twice. Once as a sophmore in high school. It went well with no side effects. Freshman year of college, my acne was back and I went on Accutane again. This time, I had several symptoms. The worst probably being extreme hair loss. I couldn't brush my hair because huge clumps would fall out.
Avatar m tn In 2004 i took accutane against my accne. I took a regular cure for 7 months and then stopped. A few months after i stopped i noticed that i looked much MUCH better then i have ever done before, skin color, eyes, hair, body odor, everything changed to normal for me. Then i noticed that i could read articles, watch movies and understand pretty much everything. When i talked to people it was like i saw the words in front of me so i knew what i was going to say all the time.
Avatar n tn With intrinsic factor, 56% of a 1 mcg dose of vitamin B12 is absorbed. However, if you exceed the capacity of intrinsic factor (between 1 and 2 mcg) the percentage of B12 absorbed is reduced. Approximately 10 mcg of B12 is absorbed from a 500 mcg supplement. A small percentage (1 to 3%) of vitamin B12 intake is absorbed through passive diffusion without intrinsic factor.
1008869 tn?1283961257 oo i know how that is! i was on accutane when i was a teenager.. and then in college it seemed to flare up again.. but nothing like what pregnancy did to me! 159619 tn?1707018272 Also, my cholesterol has been well controlled since my first round of testing in 2005 and has not exceeded 170 in total with an LDL between 58 and 80, currently 74 with normal HDL levels. My only bad number is my TGL's tend to run around 250 (down from 400). Given this long winded introduction, a couple questions; 1. What else should I be doing to protect myself from developing CAD? 2. How concerning are the PVC's for my future? 3.
Avatar n tn But it is excruciating pain and I’m convinced the accutane caused this even though I haven’t been on it in 2 years. Help.
Avatar m tn Antibiotics and other topical have not worked well enough and the dermatologist is recommending that I go on accutane. I have an app. about it in several weeks. My father had severe acne until he took accutane for 3 months at a high dose without recieving any negative side effects, which cleared up 90 percent of the acne. My mother didnt have acne. I am ready to go on accutane, but the thing is that I do submission wrestling.
Avatar m tn weight loss ( I was up to 160 right before accutane, lost 20-25 pounds in less than 2 months right after I stopped accutane, and am down to 120 currently) I feel like I have no muscle or fat on me. I'm always hungry but I can't gain a pound.
Avatar n tn I am 20 years old I was using accutane for 6 months, I was supposed to have a small surgery in my pelvis while on the drug but my doctor told me to wait and he explained that no surgery should be performed because the drug does indeed interfere with wound healing in fact he recommended to get the surgery 6 months after I have been off the drug but you should definitely ask her doctor/surgeon about it and get a better opinion ...wish you and your daughter the best.
Avatar m tn I am 19 years old, I have been on Accutane twice. The first time for 7 months (80mg a day) and the second time for 11 months (80mg) a day. Ever since I've taken Accutane I noticed my face is extremely irritable. It gets red, REALLY red, like a tomato for absolutely no reason. I will lean over and my face will be blushed and hot by the time i get up straight. When i go to the gym or even lift something mildly heavy, I get red.
Avatar n tn I took Accutane in the summer of 2001and have not been well since, even after stopping the drug. I never had joint pain prior to taking it. I was a very healthy person. The pain began in my lower back and progressed to all my joints and entire back. When my dermatologist learned of my problems, she stopped the Accutane immediately. She stated back pain was a side effect. I read all the info before taking Accutane, and it never described these symptoms in 2001.
Avatar f tn ve been looking for articles regarding the use of accutane in patients with keloid/hypertrophic scarring, but all I can seem to find are horror stories of people taking accutane and going and having laser treatment/dermabrasion resulting in keloid formation. I would never do that to my skin during such a delicate time! I just want to know what to expect of my keloid prone skin *while taking* accutane. I can't find anything on the subject! My question is...
Avatar m tn Other necessary precautions are to avoid exposure to UV rays, avoid too much alcohol, and not to take tetracycline antibiotics whilst on Accutane or for 5 weeks afterwards. Female Accutane patients must use two forms of contraception whilst on Accutane and for 5 weeks afterwards. Male patients do not need to abstain from unprotected sex but must not donate blood in case it is given to a pregnant women.

546892 tn?1214525401 Before begining treatment with Accutain, an individual should discuss about his condition with the health care provider for the possible accutane benefits and side effects in order to get it clear whether the treatment is right. Accutain is used in the treatment of the severest of acne cases which haven't responded to all other types of acne treatments.
Avatar n tn My dermatologist decided it was time to give accutane a try. I did a 7 month course and reached the target cumulative dose of 120 mg/kg. I did not have much of an initial breakout, was pretty much clear for months 3 to 6. Near the end of my course I started to get a few zits. It has now been three weeks post-accutane, and I am starting to get more and more whiteheads. Not the big inflamed whiteheads I used to get but it looks like things are returning.
