Accutane generic brands

Common Questions and Answers about Accutane generic brands

accutane

Avatar f tn can you address my question .?
Avatar m tn my son began taking generic accutane at age 15yrs, 9mos. within weeks of beginning treatment, his hair, which is naturally thick and only slightly wavy, turned *severely* curly - you'd swear he got a perm. i've read accounts of others online who say that their hair turned *slightly* curly after starting accutane, but to go from almost straight to *ringlets* do to it?? or could it be a coincidence - maybe his hair was in the process of turning curly due to adolescence?
404389 tn?1217030704 Synthroid, Levoxyl, Levothroid, Unithroid. Be careful though. They are the same main ingredient but use different "binders". Personally I cannot take the generic and only do well on the Synthroid - others are quite opposite. You will find many of us out here who swear by a particular brand (or the generic) and refuse to switch because of bad experiences. If you are going to switch, talk to your endo first so your labs can be monitored.
519725 tn?1211997846 Hi, newbie here. I was diagnosed with hypo almost 2 years ago. I was taking .88mcg of generic Levothyroxine daily. I noticed that my stomach was a little upset in the mornings but it wasn't too bad. Then, about 2 months ago, I signed up for on-line perscriptions (so I wouldn't have to go to walgreens every month). Somehow, my doctor's office perscribed me L-Thryoxine (synthoid) and I didn't notice it until just recently.
Avatar f tn Is there really a major diference between the brands and generic, or has Big Pharma just conducted a really successful smear campaign to discredit their competitors. I don't know...My personal opinion is to pick one and stay on it as consistency is probably more important than anything.
Avatar f tn Tomorrow will mark day 4 that I am late on my period. I took Accutane from approximately July 20th-August 20th, then got off of it for about a week, and got back on it around August 28th. I was supposed to have my period on Sept. 3rd, and have never been late before. I've been a day early on a few occasions, but never 4 days late. I was wondering if anyone knows if Accutane could effect my menstrual cycle. Thank you.
Avatar n tn A side effect reported is it leaves a metallic taste. Unsure about the moldy taste. Also reported that certain generic brands of Metformin smell like fish, tires, and old smelly sweat socks. Check with your doctor or pharmacist to see what other brands they have.
Avatar n tn I've only been on Accutane (actually, a generic brand of it) for ten days, and I experienced my first migraine on day 9. I am unsure if the migraine could be connected to Accutane, but I did a little research and some instances of migraines have been reported by Accutane users. I am just uncertain because I haven't been on it very long, but I am already experiencing dry lips, so I suppose I could be experiencing other side effects already, too.
Avatar f tn what is a generic drug?
Avatar n tn Levothyroxine is the generic name of T4 meds of which there are numerous brands, including the following. Each of these brands contain thyroxine, but differ in the filler material used in manufacture of the pills. Eltroxin Estre Euthyrox Levo-T Levotabs Levothroid Levoxyl Novothyrox Synthroid Thyrox Unithroid There is also a new one that is a gelcap of thyroxine, with no filler. It is called Tirosint.
685562 tn?1447155231 All issues resolved after discontinuing the generic. FDA did find some substandard practices with the company manufacturing the generic. This is what I found after some research: FDA regulations require generics to have the same active ingredients, be bioequivalent, and have a high purity. Inactive ingredients do not have to be the same and the generic can never look like the brand name.
1134609 tn?1269272200 I have never had any luck when I have been placed on the generic brands of medications. Celexa especially; I was on it for 10 years, tried the generic several times and paid for it. 3. I have also been on Neurontin for the past 10 years. In a past post, I wondered if they decrease in dosage is what was causing me so many problems. However, I am back on the brand name of the medication and there's a HUGE difference between the two.
Avatar f tn We tried a generic brand on my son and he got a super bad rash, some kids don't do well with generic brands, I LOVE huggies, I've never had a leak with them because they fit so great, and my daughter's had a few good blow outs haha. It all depends on your baby, you'll find what works best for you.
Avatar n tn Synthroid is one of the brands of levothyroxine, Levoxyl and Unithroid are other brands. There are also several (around 8) generic producers. The key is consistency -- if your pharmacist can always get generic T4 from the same source, that usually works as well as a brand and can save money. If not, then there may be fluctuations in the response to the T4. In general it is recommended to "protect the brand" to ensure consistency.
Avatar m tn Prozac has been generic for a very long time, there are several companies now making generic versions. Precisely which were your before and after brands of generic prozac (fluoxetine hydrochloride)?
Avatar n tn The FDA allows generic medication to contain between 75 and 125% of the active ingredient. If you need 100 mcg levothyroxine to feel well, the generic may contain as little as 75 mcg and as much as 125 mcg active ingredient. This would be fine as long as you were able to get the same exact manufactuer of the generic. But there are many companies who make the generic "brands" and each may differ slightly in how much meds is really in the pill.
822153 tn?1333062995 Wondering if anyone has had any noticable changes/experiences between generic drugs and name-brands??? Specifically regarding anti-depressants. I just read an interesting article in "Self" magazine (June '09 edittion) that presented a lot of scary, interesting facts regarding this. To anyone on anti-depressants, specifically Wellbutrin (budeprion) like I am, it is worth reading...pretty scary considering a drug manufacturer in India fudged an omitted some of the test results.
Avatar n tn I went the other way - from generic to Levoxyl. Six weeks later, my T3 and T4 had both gone down, even though the dose had remained constant. This indicated to me that the generic might have been a bit on the high side. My endo says the generic can vary as much as 15% from its stated dosage. So, if you were on 125mcg Synthroid and switched to generic (possibly containing 15% more - also could be 15% less), you'd be at approximately 144 mcg. That's a pretty big change.
Avatar m tn My dermatologist has prescribed me Isotretinoin (Accutane) around 20 mg. However i feel uneasy and very worried because i had read the following medical research papers where it tells the harmful side effects Isotretinoin has such as teratogenic and more importantly the cause of eye disorders, like impaired night vision, cataracts, optic neuritis, corneal opacities and dry eye. I had check in PubMed about this and i encountered the following http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/10746459.
Avatar f tn When I went to the store I quickly realized I was in over my head. Does it matter which brands to buy? And how many of each size should I start getting? Completely lost.
Avatar f tn The only difference between generic brands and name brands are the name there is absolutely nothing else more or less in the medication when you buy name brand medication you are paying for the name and that's why the generic is so much cheaper and that's why most doctors prescribe you the generic because it's cheaper they legally cannot put any more or less ingredients in the medication just because of the name..
Avatar f tn I'm currently weaning from breast feeding due to medical reasons and I'm trying to find a formula. It's just so darn expensive!! Do any if you moms use generic brand formula like parents choice from Walmart? How is your lo on it? And what brands do you use if not anyways? What about organic? There's so many options!
574118 tn?1305135284 I experience anxiety and I normally take 1 mg at bedtime of generic klonopin. For years now, it's been the generic brand TEVA. I got my refill and for 2 nights now this other brand IPL is not working. So, there is certainly a difference. My doctor said it is possible that due to the fillers or the binders, sometimes they can vary in effectiveness. It's just upsetting. I can't sleep and now have to deal with calling and finding out what to do next.
Avatar f tn Levoxyl is indeed a brand name levothyroxine, like Synthroid. It's the only brand my insurance covers, that's why I take it. It's works out best for me but the name has been a real pain. Now, before leaving the pharmacy counter I have to take my med out of the bag, read it and make sure it says 'Levoxyl - 112 mcg.
