accutane

Avatar m tn Accutane induced rosacea is mentioned on various forums. This is quite an informative answer i came across on "The Rosacea Forum" - Rosacea from accutane? "Accutane/isotretinoin flushing is a big red flag that the body has had enough and isn't coping with the retinoic acid... Hives often indicate a serious drug reaction. The post-Accutane period is the most unknown.
Avatar f tn Really seeking some guidance here I have been on birth control (same brand) for 4 years and I had noticed that my external vaginal area would be itchy periodically. That started about 2 years ago and I found that taking a yeast infection treatment didn't help so I assumed it was a natural side effect of BC. In the past few months the problem has worsened and the inner labia down to perineum and anus are now constantly red and more frequently itchy.
408901 tn?1274687198 I was on Soriatane which is similar to Accutane, but the difference is W/Accutane you must be off it for 1 mo. to get pg. For Soriatane it takes 3 YEARS to get out of your system. I got on it at 17 or so, and am 21 now. It was just about the 3 yr. mark when I found out I was pregnant. that was 2 1/2mo. ago. My skin condition is similar to Excema or Psoriasis, but different too. Its called EHK(it's hereditary and my baby has a %50/50 chance of being born w/it).
Avatar m tn No mention of Accutane associated with hypothyroidism. Good thing you only took the drug for three days.
Avatar f tn Hello there, Im a 26 years old and may be 4 - 6 weeks pregnant. I have done a couple of home pregnancy test which all tested positive. My OB/Gyn appointment is not until next week. My husband is currently taking Accutane and had been on the medication for 4 months and counting. I've read that while taking Accutane, women are strictly advised against getting pregnant as it causes serious birth defects. Is it the same case for man taking Accutane?
Avatar n tn Acne inversa is another name for hidradenitis suppurativa. but that condition primarily affects the armpits and sometimes the groin, not the buttocks. So it's hard for me to answer your questions without knowing for sure what you have. Have any cultures for bacteria been done? Biopsies? It is true that Accutane doesn't work very well for cystic diseases that aren't true acne, but nothing else does either, so a course of this drug seems reasonable.
Avatar m tn I have been taking accutane for 7 months now. 20 mg first month, 40 next, then 80 which is my current dose. I have a predicted one more month to go(and it has been helping). A few months ago I noticed my hair was getting thinner. I asked my doctor about it and he said he did not know anything about accutane causing hair loss. I have researched it and found that it does. I was just wondering if it is in my case.
Avatar f tn It can be treated but it commonly has recurrences also and there are no home remedies for psoriasis. So a regular treatment is required for this. Treatment options include Ointment and creams containing coal tar, dithranol (anthralin), corticosteroids like desoximetasone (Topicort), vitamin D3 analogues (for example, calcipotriol), and retinoids,Psoralen+UVA and PUVB therapy. Over time, psoriasis can become resistant to a specific therapy.
Avatar m tn I got worried about this, and I went back to my room where in a matter of minutes, the hyper/crazy feeling went away and I became EXTREMELY tired. I decided to stop taking the accutane. Felt exhausted for the next week and a half, but then, ironically, after a pulling an all nighter before my last final exam, I started feeling fine again. I decided to only take 40mg accutane to avoid the side effects, and I felt fine for a month until the tiredness set in.

Avatar n tn Why do you wait a year to prescribe topical treatment after Accutane? What skin care regime do you recommend? Do you prescribe antibiotics if the Accutane doesn't perform well? It has been difficult to get rationale for Accutane treatment. Thank you for your advice...
Avatar n tn I've only been on Accutane (actually, a generic brand of it) for ten days, and I experienced my first migraine on day 9. I am unsure if the migraine could be connected to Accutane, but I did a little research and some instances of migraines have been reported by Accutane users. I am just uncertain because I haven't been on it very long, but I am already experiencing dry lips, so I suppose I could be experiencing other side effects already, too.
Avatar n tn This Med help isn't very helpful. I posted this 3yrs ago, and haven't had any replies. Doctor says "no" to Hiperhydrosis, cut out wheat for a while, tried all topical ointments, anti-antiperspirants, alcohol, thyroid checked, dermatologist was lame,>direct prescription for accutane, which isn't going to happen, and still seem to get oeveheated and sweat for no reason. Good luck to anyone trying to stay away from prescriptions.
Avatar m tn Other necessary precautions are to avoid exposure to UV rays, avoid too much alcohol, and not to take tetracycline antibiotics whilst on Accutane or for 5 weeks afterwards. Female Accutane patients must use two forms of contraception whilst on Accutane and for 5 weeks afterwards. Male patients do not need to abstain from unprotected sex but must not donate blood in case it is given to a pregnant women.
Avatar n tn 17 year old daughter having stomach issues, just got a positive test for celiac, has bad acne, derm wants to put her on accutane. I am worried about the accutane and her stomach. Not sure celiac is only cause of stomach aches. Also birth control pill used to control acne, then she went off and it came back worse than ever. She is back on the pill for almost 3 months and it is not working. Why?
Avatar m tn Antibiotics and other topical have not worked well enough and the dermatologist is recommending that I go on accutane. I have an app. about it in several weeks. My father had severe acne until he took accutane for 3 months at a high dose without recieving any negative side effects, which cleared up 90 percent of the acne. My mother didnt have acne. I am ready to go on accutane, but the thing is that I do submission wrestling.
Avatar n tn ve yet to find research regarding this. I would love for it to be the case for me that Accutane temporarily caused lupus-like symptoms that will simply go away with time, especially since I'm now having issues with the Plaquenil I take for my lupus, but I think that's wishful thinking. Good luck to everyone who has suffered from this drug.
Avatar n tn Hi, I have been on accutane for about alittle over a month. My dose is 20mg per day. I noticed about my fifth week using it that I developed a rash on the top of both my hands. It looks like little dots/pimples. They don't itch or burn. I thought it was ezema but I don't know. Is this a side effect from the accutane? Does anyone know how to treat this rash? I never had this before.
Avatar f tn these are topical medications. The maintenance therapy for psoriasis requires tapering off of steroids once response and improvement has been achieved as well as the use of moisturizers. A bland and mild cream may be used as daily moisturizer. It is important that you maintain close supervision by your physician when using steroids.Do not stop or taper off medications by yourself.Psoriasis is a chronic disease and the plaques may flare up from time to time.
Avatar n tn (1) Is it smart to start using retin a micro so soon after accutane? My dermatologist prescribed it over the phone and I have not seem him for 1.5 months. (2) Is a second course of accutane likely to do any good? I am amazed how quickly the acne returned. It didn't even work throughout the entire course. I don't obsess about acne but it does put a damper on my personal and professional life. I usually cope with it well, but occasionally it really gets me down.
Avatar n tn I am 20 years old I was using accutane for 6 months, I was supposed to have a small surgery in my pelvis while on the drug but my doctor told me to wait and he explained that no surgery should be performed because the drug does indeed interfere with wound healing in fact he recommended to get the surgery 6 months after I have been off the drug but you should definitely ask her doctor/surgeon about it and get a better opinion ...wish you and your daughter the best.
