Accutane for ingrown hair

Common Questions and Answers about Accutane for ingrown hair

accutane

Avatar n tn I suggest that you get advice from a physician (in person) rather than an esthetician. It's possible that you have ingrown hairs. If you do, laser hair removal might help. If you tweeze or pulls at your hairs, you need to stop. If it is acne, there are many medications, oral or topical, to consider. I don't think you ought to decide in advance what will or won't do the trick. Take care. Dr.
Avatar m tn Hello, Hair abnormalities are a side effect of the drug Accutane and in most cases the hair should grow back once the drug treatment is completed. Your hair needs vitamins and minerals to grow that it can only get from the bloodstream. So if you want to speed up your hair growth and thickness you should limit the intake of fat and salts. Selenium, zinc and magnesium are some of the minerals that your hair needs and also amino acids will help in growing hairs.
Avatar f tn I wish I knew what could help. I don't have the cysts, but I definitely have the terminal hairs that drive me nuts, too. I'm not talking about just a couple of hairs either. I spend quite a bit of time pulling this stuff out everyday just to feel more feminine. I'm too sensitive to even try the hair inhibitors, so I steer clear of the stuff. I know about the corkscrew hairs. Every so often I come across those.
Avatar n tn I regret using Accutane because the hair loss for me has been emotionally hard to deal with and quite devestating. This discussion is related to Accutane/ Hair Loss.
Avatar n tn After a couple of years of enduring the painful process of shaving, I have decided that I can no longer cope with it. I have been off of accutane for about six months and it made my skin a nightmare. Thankfully, it cleared up my skin and I no longer get pimples although it has made my skin very irritated from shaving. I first started shaving with an regular razor, but my dermatologist told my to switch to an electric razor because my skin was being ruined.
Avatar n tn Is there a strong correlation between hair thinning/loss with accutane patients? Should she be concerned about permanent hair loss? If her hair is thinning, is this permanent as well or temporary?
Avatar m tn Thanks so much for the response. My apologies for such a late response. I am still on accutane. A new symptom has arose. I contacted the pharmacy about it for further recommendations. He listed off side effect and what he thinks I have is dry eyes. Now, this is not that big deal however, I have never experienced eye pain. Its not excrutiating pain however, it is discomfortable. I have visine and eye drops from previous outings of infection once. The advice was see a doctor.
Avatar n tn (1) Is it smart to start using retin a micro so soon after accutane? My dermatologist prescribed it over the phone and I have not seem him for 1.5 months. (2) Is a second course of accutane likely to do any good? I am amazed how quickly the acne returned. It didn't even work throughout the entire course. I don't obsess about acne but it does put a damper on my personal and professional life. I usually cope with it well, but occasionally it really gets me down.
Avatar n tn Its sometimes yellow, sometimes white, sometimes like an oversize blackhead. Some are big and some are small. Some look dark like they contain an ingrown hair. They cover my chest, breasts, and lately I've noticed them below my chest, on my sides and a few on my lower back. In the past I've had them on my elbows and one very big but deep one on my neck.
Avatar n tn Hi, I have been on accutane for about alittle over a month. My dose is 20mg per day. I noticed about my fifth week using it that I developed a rash on the top of both my hands. It looks like little dots/pimples. They don't itch or burn. I thought it was ezema but I don't know. Is this a side effect from the accutane? Does anyone know how to treat this rash? I never had this before.
20904842 tn?1609386032 ve been getting sores on my chest ever since I was around 12. I had acne for many years until I was 20 (and cured it with Accutane), so I thought that it was just the same as what was on my face. And some of it was. But even once I had clear skin everywhere else, I still got these chest sores. There's no pus in them and they don't hurt; they're more like red marks or scabs, I guess.
Avatar m tn I know laser treatment would be most beneficial but cannot afford it at the moment. What can I do in the meantime to help prevent ingrown hair and pimples in the hair follicle? I also was prescribed spironolactone for the hirsitism to block the androgen receptors but I dont want to disturb K levels and get hyperkalemia. Should I worry about K levels or if a low dose is prescribed it wouldnt be a problem?
Avatar m tn I have had ingrown hair (I assume) on the back of my arms and top of my thighs for the past 6-8 years and I have no clue how to get rid of it... It gets worse in the summer months (fantastic) so I don't know if it is an allergy to something or if it becomes irritated by moisture and/or heat. Years ago a dermetologist tried 5 or six different combinations of different products...which got very expensive and NEVER helped. Nothing helps and scrubbing seems to irritate it more.
Avatar m tn when you squeezed ingrown hair on the penis shaft when swallow and the hair is removed from the inside and it causes a sore..can vaginal fluid enter into the blood stream from where the hair was removed? I did wear a condom but it didn't cover the whole penis and the part where the ingrown hair was inside the vagina.
Avatar m tn However a day later I noticed a weird sensation at the tip of my penis with a slight discharge and minor urinary pain. also an ingrown hair appeared where I had the irritation. I know it was an ingrown hair because it had a white head and obvious black hair in the middle and when it popped it released pus and blood. its still there however and hurts, but is the only thing I notice on the skin of my penis. I went to get tested about a week ago.
Avatar m tn For the past few months, I've been losing a lot of eyebrow hair. In the beginning, it was only a few hairs which I thought was completely normal but I began to notice that as the months went by, I was losing a lot of hairs at the same time on both my eyebrows, every single day. Lately, my brows have also been itchy and the skin on my eyebrows have been so so flakey which leads to more hair loss.

Avatar m tn can a single ingrown hair (folliculitis) on the genitals last for a few weeks?
Avatar f tn I reposted on my old thread in another forum, but wasn't getting a response. Can someone please take a read through my current headache? :) I recently had a bout of razor-rash on my pubic area after shaving: about 5-6 marks, most of them slightly red, flush with the skin (not raised), and about the size of a ball point pen-head. There's one bump, however, that's giving me some concern.
Avatar m tn Please help me. I had an ingrown hair on my bikini line right under the top of my underwear and i plucked it. Now for 2 days it has been nothing but painful red, swelling, pussing and bleeding. Its right along my pants line so its even more painful. I can not even touch it or lay on it. I took a warm bath and it came to a big white head and when i touched it a big white ball of puss came out and now its a pen size whole all red and i can still see puss down inside of it.
