Accutane for chest acne

Common Questions and Answers about Accutane for chest acne

accutane

Avatar n tn It worked a treat but 9months after I had finished treatment the acne returned. Over the years I have been on 3 treatments of Roacutane for about 18months each with the same result about 9 months later. At the age of 23 I went to a new dermatologist who suggested trialing a 4th treatment of Roacutane, I refused not knowing the permanent damage it might have on my body especially considered I'd like to have children one day and Roacutane causes birth deformities.
546892 tn?1214525401 Isotretinoin is a type of medication used to treat severe acne (nodlo cystic or nodular acne) which have failed to respond to other treatments including any type of oral antibiotics and topical application creams. Accutane is strong medicine for acne cure but can have serious side effects.
Avatar n tn Hello. I have been on Accutane for the last 5 months. My acne is clearing and I have no new breakouts, however I have lots of red marks where the acne was (post inflamatory hyperpigmentation possibly?)? Anyway, I was just curious if blue light or red light treatment would help, and can I use the light treatment while on Accutane? If not, what else could I do to reduce the appearance of the red marks? The acne is on my chest and is very hard to look at.
Avatar m tn s opinion on the effectiveness of Accutane on smaller acne heads. My acne is on my face, neck, back, and chest. There are not very many big acne heads (I have benzoyl peroxide5%, Differin 3%, and Minocyclin 100 mg twice a day). These medications play a big part in my not having many big zits. Anyways, I have lots of little acne heads all over. How effective is Accutane at getting rid of these heads and keeping them off? (from your experience or from official sources) Thanks!
Avatar n tn I have had acne all of my life. At 26 I did two rounds of Accutane, which cleared my T-zone and chest/back acne. Now I have persistant and large acne on my cheeks and jawline, including cystic acne. The acne is ever present and not just once a month. My current dermo (not the one who proscribed Accutane) tells me that it's hormonal (I believe this) and that I will just have to deal with it for the rest of my life (I don't want to accept this).

Avatar f tn I am looking for help in regards to my 13 year old daughter. She has severe cystic acne for the past 7 months. The cystic acne was just beginning late last year in 2013. The oral antibiotics were of no further help so we started Accutane in Dec 2013. She had the terrible initial flare but it has not stopped!! She started out on Accutane 30mg twice a day and then bumped up to 40mg twice a day. Then dropped to 40mg once a day. She weighs about 155lbs.
15642279 tn?1441935921 So for the past few months I've had acne. Its all over my upper back, chest, breasts and under my breasts. I have extremely sensitive skin and I've tried everything and it doesn't let up! I'm frustrated because it's hard to feel good about myself when I'm emberassed! What have you guys tried that have been the best considering acne treating medications or cleansers or anything! I'm desperate, I wanna be able to look down and not see a bunch of acne for once!
Avatar m tn Thank you for the replies. We have decided to hold off on the accutane for at least a year. My son is on yet another bunch of prescriptions (tazorac gel instead of the cream-as well as doxycycline 100 mgs 2x a day, prescription benzoyl peroxide/salicylic acid pads) and so far his skin is much better. After talking at length with my husband and our son, we decided that the chance of stunting his growth, as well as the joint/muscle pain would be too much of a risk.
10131613 tn?1407989226 The stuff on your chest just sounds like cystic acne. For the boil, since you seem to have more trouble with it than I do with mine, you can probably go and get the whole thing "cut out" (NOT just lanced) under local anesthesia. I think that might stop it coming back. I had that done with a cyst. It still is swelled up sometimes and sore, but it doesn't fill up like it used to.
Avatar n tn Why do you wait a year to prescribe topical treatment after Accutane? What skin care regime do you recommend? Do you prescribe antibiotics if the Accutane doesn't perform well? It has been difficult to get rationale for Accutane treatment. Thank you for your advice...
Avatar n tn A complete evaluation of your acne problem is necessary. Other options may be available for acne treatment. The severity and extent of your acne has to be considered here. There are certain factors to consider when using accutane. This includes pregnancy , use of other medications and psychiatric side effects .
Avatar n tn 17 year old daughter having stomach issues, just got a positive test for celiac, has bad acne, derm wants to put her on accutane. I am worried about the accutane and her stomach. Not sure celiac is only cause of stomach aches. Also birth control pill used to control acne, then she went off and it came back worse than ever. She is back on the pill for almost 3 months and it is not working. Why?
Avatar n tn It worked great and quickly cleared up my acne. Unfortunetly, I developed a keloid scar on my chest and a few on my shoulders from breakouts that did heal correctly. Keloids do not seem to run in my family, and I have always healed normally so I attribute my keloids to Accutane.
Avatar m tn Antibiotics and other topical have not worked well enough and the dermatologist is recommending that I go on accutane. I have an app. about it in several weeks. My father had severe acne until he took accutane for 3 months at a high dose without recieving any negative side effects, which cleared up 90 percent of the acne. My mother didnt have acne. I am ready to go on accutane, but the thing is that I do submission wrestling.
Avatar n tn I took roaccutane in my late teens and it cleared up my acne wonderfully for a few years, but then it came back, and worse. My skin is much more sensitive now than it ever was before - rashes all the time.. Also, there have been big 'hoo haas' about whether or not it causes depression. I have also suffered a number of clinical depressions since. The best thing I've found for acne is Brevoxyl (4% benzoyl peroxide). It's a cream, available over the counter.
Avatar n tn If long-term use of anti-biotics has proved ineffective, he may be a candidate for oral accutane. Discuss this with your doctor, and check out our acne forum too.
1155893 tn?1263018015 Well Ive now been on accutane for 5 months and I keep breaking out. I said in one of my earlier posts that my face was clearing up but now I broke out again and its back to being crap. Im suppose to be on accutane for 7 months (two months left to go). When I first started taking the medication my doc said it be gone by 3 months, max. But now 5 months later... its still not gone and on top of that I have these dark marks that the acne has left behind.
Avatar f tn I was on accutane when I was a teenager, I am now 26 and have been acne free for years. Sudenly I started to break out again. Does accutane stop working years after taking it? Can I take it again?
Avatar n tn There is no miracle cure for acne. Cortisone shots reduce inflammation and allergic symptoms but can actually induce acne. The drug considered the "gold standard" treatment for acne is Accutane (oral Isotretinoin). This is a power drug for people with severe acne which has not responded to standard treatments.
Avatar n tn I am not a doctor but I did work as a pharmacy tech for 4 years, and personally it scared the heck out of me all the warning labels we had to put on Accutane. If you only have mild acne I'm surprised your doctor would prescribe this medication unless it really bothers you and you have exhausted all other avenues. For a lot of people acne, especially just mild acne, is just part of life. Good luck to you whatever you choose!
Avatar m tn Hi I had been on accutane for only 2 months. This means i did not complete the 6 month treatment. Right now i have been off accutane for 2 months and a half.Right now i have occasional pimples but nothing great like before. My face is getting back to its normal greasy self.I have many embarrassing scars on my face, My question is, is it okay to have laser treatment on my face or microdembrasion or do i suffer the possiblilty of having my acne scars worse than they are now?
Avatar n tn I have had a problem with acne all my life and took a course of Accutane in my early twenties. I was acne free for 10 years, but then it came back and I developed tiny bumps under my eyes that my dermatologist said were syringoma (after a year of treating it as acne with retin-a and antibiotics). As usual, the antibiotics and retin-a did not do anything to treat my acne problems, so I have begun a new course of Accutane.
Avatar f tn After that i started getting a lot of pimples on my cheeks so the dermatologist put me on antibiotics for 3-4 months. My acne just got worse so i was put on accutane for 2 months and it cleared my skin. By that time i was 17 years old . After two months i started getting pimples again . So for a month and a half i had antibiotics again but they were completely not responsive. My acne got worse than ever before. I did not have systic acne but it was pretty bad .
