Avatar n tn I have read about taking Vitamin B5...I am wondering if you know anything about this and if it is safe? And if not, do you have any recommendations for somthing that may work. I have tried cutting out dairy and I would try cutting out caffeine but I am a coffee drinker so its rough. Any other thoughts or recommendations are appreciated.
Avatar n tn Today, it is as bad as it ever was, but now I have acne, severe dry skin patches, premature wrinkles, and age spots. I wish I had skipped the synthetic vitamin A and just used fish oil and other supplements. I recently found some help with taking organic cod liver oil (Carlson's) which is naturally high in vitamin A. I also see improvement now that I take plenty of zinc and vitamin C. Egg yolk applied topically (also high in A) is supposed to work. I hope this helps you.
Avatar n tn Should I eat anything with vitamin A? and if I only have mild acne but have never had clear skin since grade 7 should I still take it?
Avatar n tn ) The government considers 3,000 mcg RAE (10,000 IU) to be the maximum amount of preformed vitamin A that you should get from supplements, animal sources, and fortified foods – combined – each day. The upper limit for women younger than age 19 is 2,900 mcg RAE (9,240 IU). This is one important reason why it's not a good idea to double up on your prenatal vitamins or take any supplements that your practitioner doesn't recommend.
Avatar m tn For back pain and other side effects of Accutane, people have found the supplements to take to counteract these side effects: Here are some posts from the internet: "Anyway, the maintenance dose works, but after a year and a half of taking Accutane I was becoming less tolerant of the side effects of even a maintenance dose (headaches, excessive dryness, etc.). Well, I have managed to combat the headaches and excessive dryness by increasing my Vitamin E intake from 400-800 I.U.
Avatar m tn For the melasma, treatment options include treatment with vitamin C and hydrocortisone, peel with carbon dioxide snow and alexandrite and ND-Yag Q-Switched laser treatment preceded by a hydroquinone-based application. But get it done after the course of Accutane. Please discuss these options with your dermatologist. It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided.
Avatar n tn She recently (2 weeks ago) started taking a low dose of accutane every other day and noticed her face and scalp began to itch and flake. She is now concerned about her hair thinning and even being lost, claiming that it has at least begun to thin. My question: Is there a strong correlation between hair thinning/loss with accutane patients? Should she be concerned about permanent hair loss? If her hair is thinning, is this permanent as well or temporary?
Avatar n tn Hi, just finished roaccutane treatment last month and took a medical exam yesterday and they found out that I'm anemic? is this a serious problem? I'm really scared. What do i need to know now? what is the type of anemia caused by taking roaccutane? Thank You in advance!
Avatar m tn after that i had Shaking in my hand (for 3 month then it removed) and bad concentration (i did not know till now why i did not go dr may i was thinking that is not problem ) after 4 year i did a test for thyroid and the result was positive for hypothyroidism , i want to ask if there is connection between the medication (Isotretinoin and accutane) and hypothyroidism and if it reversible
Avatar n tn i have started accutane 4 days ago u lot a getting me scared but my face it terrible let u know how i get on
Avatar m tn I can say, nothing has helped the way accutane has. I got a hair cut and made the mistake of getting my hair texturized. My cousin made a comment about my hair so, now I am concerned about it thinning. Upon further inspection, it feels thinner near the crown but, she did texturize my hair. Also, I was laying on it in a certain spot. I took a video with my phone for further inspection finding nothing but I will keep a close eye on it. Is rogain out of the question while on accutane?

Avatar m tn I'm having the same thing happen. It's been about two months and the redness is not going away. At first I thought that it was because I've been on two rounds of accutane, and there's going to be a lil chappedness now and then but now I'm thinking it's probably a bacterial or fungal infection since it's not going away and it's spreading. As an post-accutane user I'm sure we're more suseptable to infection because the lips get damaged so easily.
Avatar f tn Adding dietary supplements such as multi-vitamins with minerals, calcium, and vitamin D can also be useful however supplements and vitamins should not replace proper food intake." http://www.msaustralia.org.au/treatment-and-management/living-with-ms/diet MS trust has a pdf specifically for vitamin D: http://www.mstrust.org.uk/downloads/vitamind.
Avatar n tn This is a thyroid forum; are you asking your questions in relation to a thyroid condition? Coconut oil and vitamin E are good for your hair and skin and I don't know of any adverse effects, since they are both used in many shampoos and hair care products. I'd strongly recommend that you do more research and/or talk to your doctor or dermatologist before mixing your own products...
Avatar f tn I feel for you so much. I took Accutane for FIVE DAYS over two months ago and it is STILL thinning out my skin. I am only 23. I will look like I am in my 40's in no time, and my eyes look sick. My eyelids are like tissue paper and I have never known such devastation in my life. I have had many suicidal thoughts. It is a disgrace that this drug is prescribed. The FDA is completely negligent.
Avatar n tn As a patient with MS, you can expect to have the same risks and side effects as other people on accutane, and these side effects and risks need to be discussed with you by your dermatologist before you start taking it. However, I would also run this by your neurologist who manages your MS just to make sure he/she feels that accutane may affect your MS in some way. Thank you for this opportunity to answer your questions, I hope you find the information I have provided useful, good luck.

Avatar n tn From what you have stated in your question, you are at the upper limits for vitamin C and E, decrease Zinc to 40mg, and suggest not increasing the other doses. You did not state the vitamin Bs you are taking. Vitamin B6 recommended dose for Adult male is 1.3mg a day (upper limit 100mg), and Niacin 16 mg a day (upper limit 35mg). You stated that you were having muscle problems, are you eating enough potassium foods (oranges, orange juice, potatoes, bananas, etc)?
Avatar m tn I take a multi vitamin as well as L-Arginine, Zinc and Saw Palmetto. I was wondering if anyone has any concrete evidence that the L-Arginine especially has any negative effects on my condition (causes/exacerbates) breakouts etc. I also currently use vitamin E liquid topically and have been trying to live as healthy a life style as possible. I like taking the L-arginine for the muscle building properties but I am willing to stop taking it if it makes my HPV worse.
