Hello, It is true that accutane has plenty of side effects. It may cause cheilitis and dry lips but thinning of skin and hair loss are less frequent side effects. From your symptoms first of all hypothyroidism should be ruled out. The second possibility to be ruled out is of vitamin D deficiency.

It sounds like the skin flora has been altered and maybe you have yeast overgrowth. Is there any way to stop the Accutane and use neem soap and other less drying treatments? I would see a urologist to have a look so that you get the best possible treatment for your penile skin, but 100% aloe vera would be a good moisturizer. You may also need Lotrimin cream if it is a yeast overgrowth. I understand that acne can be a huge problem.

i always believed those tablets did me harm.. at the time my eyes were dry and skin too... was told to stay out the sun and that my mucus membranes would temporarily dry out... fast forward to now... years after stoppin the tablets.. and this is what i am left with.. .is there a proven link i wonder??

this is about my 3rd month i think at 40mg and i have noticed that my head is actualy peeling (please be mature) i am not circumsized so i do have skin over it but the tip of my skin has really puffed out and tured red and i actually have extremly bad pain sometimes like a really bad stinging like were it hurts to walk i have tired mosturizer on my head and the skin over it well i cant see my head anymore because when i pull the skin back to see how its bin i cant because of the pain i cant real

When I started Accutane, my skin suddenly responded and within a few months my skin looks the best it has ever looked. It is at least 80-90% better. I have had the side effects of lips peeling, my jaw is stiff (although I grind my teeth and I have braces right now) and my lower back gets sharp pains some days, but I am going to troop through it and drink more water and exercise more.

If that is the case, the doctor could have treated it with something other than accutane. How long have you been off accutane and how long have you been treated for depression/anxiety? Was it during the time you were on accutane or once off of it? My gut feeling is that once the accutane is completely out of your system, your depression and anxiety will get back to where they were before.

Why do you wait a year to prescribe topical treatment after Accutane? What skin care regime do you recommend? Do you prescribe antibiotics if the Accutane doesn't perform well? It has been difficult to get rationale for Accutane treatment. Thank you for your advice...

That is why I am wondering if isotrentionin may extend the window period to 6 months because it can be used as a chemotherapy drug for skin cancer. I hate how my anxiety overtakes and finds every little thread of doubt. I will try to calm them down but scientific results and information from this community will help a lot. I will probably wait about a year before doing anything drastic to improve my skin after the accutane, since I know my skin is very sensitive and will probably take longer than most to recover from such a harsh treatment as accutane sounds. I'd rather be safe than sorry with how I scar.

I have been taking accutane for about a month now and I recently started to get big purples spots on my leg that look like bruises. I haven’t done anything to get them. Is this a side effect of accutane ?

My dermatologist prescibed me Lac Hydrin (12% ammonia lactate) because my face was getting rough like sandpaper, and this has made my skin smooth. However, my skin is so thin, so when my skin feels smooth and freshly exfoliated, it also feels tight and thinner. He prescribed me metronidazole cream for the redness. I haven't noticed any effects.

Hi. I am 19 and have had moderate acne/oily skin for 2 years. Antibiotics and other topical have not worked well enough and the dermatologist is recommending that I go on accutane. I have an app. about it in several weeks. My father had severe acne until he took accutane for 3 months at a high dose without recieving any negative side effects, which cleared up 90 percent of the acne. My mother didnt have acne. I am ready to go on accutane, but the thing is that I do submission wrestling.

Hello, Since Accutane causes delayed wound healing and other side effects on skin like increased fragility of skin and hyper and hypopigmentation, so it is advisable to get cryotherapy done after you have completed the course of Accutane. Does anyone know about the scarring after-effects of accutane? I've read several reports of scarring left after it's use. I'm sure that scars are to be expected, as with any open wound, but I don't know if these reports are by anyone with abnormalities with healing/scarring. Here is the situation... I have mild, maybe slightly moderate acne. I get keloids on other parts of my body, but thankfully not my face. I still get abnormal facial scarring though.

My guess is that Accutane permanently changes your skin down to the chemical level, making it very sensitive to harsh exfoliants for months following treatment. However, it doesn't stay in your blood stream for that long after terminating treatment and that is what would harm an unborn child. Does that make sense?

This means i did not complete the 6 month treatment. Right now i have been off accutane for 2 months and a half.Right now i have occasional pimples but nothing great like before. Hi. Rashes and reddened skin are common side effects of Accutane therapy. The best hand cream I used whilst on Accutane was Elizabeth Arden 8 hour hand cream. They also make an 8 hour lip cream which I used for dry lips whilst on Accutane. Eloise.

Now his doctor has him on topical accutane and another topical application. He is having severe flare ups and when he applies the accutane it burns. He's fed up with this. Any thoughts? i will call his doctor, of course, but am wondering if you have any ideas.

Accutane can also affect hair, lips, eyes, nose and vagina. Skin can be fragile for up to 6 months after finishing Accutane. However, it is very unusual to still be experiencing vaginal dryness after a year. Have you changed anything else, method of birth control for example? Using a fruit-flavored lubricant will make it feel more sexy and less clinical than using something like KY Jelly. Make an appointment with your doctor, as it is unusual for this problem to persist after stopping Accutane.

Hi I am on my third month of acutane and have a ton of large bumps under my skin that almost looks like a rash. I had taken acutane before and did not expierence this side effect. Do you think it is from the acutane?
