accutane

Avatar m tn I have an opportunity to work in Congo (Pointe-Noire), but the country has a tropical climate: with Hot (20 to 30 Deg C) and Humid (80%) weather. I'm 34 Yrs old and I have an oily skin, due to a return of light acne, that takes a long time, my doctor prescribed to me CURACNE 10 mg (equ. to ACCUTANE). 1. is it risky to live in a tropical climate under the above described condition, Knowing that almost the time I have to work at office? 2. Can Accutane help me at that climate conditions?
Avatar n tn For the next two years my forehead continued to have very dry, dead looking skin on it and my skin had moderate-severe acne. I am now out of college and over the past year, I tried using an exfoliating cleanser along with duac gel and finacea as well as doxycycline as an antibiotic. These products worked well and have cleared up my skin considerably, but my skin remains red and goes from being very dry at times to being very oily at times.
Avatar m tn Hi. I am 19 and have had moderate acne/oily skin for 2 years. Antibiotics and other topical have not worked well enough and the dermatologist is recommending that I go on accutane. I have an app. about it in several weeks. My father had severe acne until he took accutane for 3 months at a high dose without recieving any negative side effects, which cleared up 90 percent of the acne. My mother didnt have acne. I am ready to go on accutane, but the thing is that I do submission wrestling.
Avatar m tn They are probably too harsh if you stay on the Accutane, but I wish I could have tried tea tree oil or white vinegar when I had oily skin and breakouts. Didn't know about those. I never tried Accutane.
Avatar f tn After more than 10 years of mostly clear skin my complexion has fallen apart seemingly due to the hormones brought on by pregnancy. It has been a year of bad breakouts, oily skin, not limited to my face but also my chest and back as well. My dermatologist has given me a prescription for Doxycycline as well as Epiduo Gel, which was not covered by my insurance and so i was not able to get that. It seems to me that there are some similarities between this antibiotic and Accutane.
Avatar m tn jus t to let you know my story, i was a life long sufferer, i am 33 years old now, very oily skin and very pale. I have tried everyting from over the counter to medication nothing has worked. i am 33 up until this january i was losing hope, i was about to try accutane. i didnt want accutance because of the side effects but these pimples/cysts were killing socially. I then did soome research. I have made a 100% turn around. this worked for me, i am acne free.
Avatar n tn Recently I stopped using moisturizers because my skin seemed too oily and voila my skin looks very good (my blepharitis also cleared up as soon as I stopped using treatments). However my extremely flaky/seemingly dry lips remain. Am I right in thinking that the lips are caused by having taken 40 mg a day of accutane for 5 mths up until April of 09, or could they be a result of my seborrheic dermatitis?
1155893 tn?1263018015 Hey, I finished my accutane course like 5 months ago and my skin has been really clear but recently I've been breaking out some and would like to try out proactiv. Do you think this would be safe? Do you even think proactive works?
Avatar f tn I have had persistent but fairly mild acne since I was 18 (almost 11 years now). Last year I gave in and went onto accutane for 8 months which transformed my skin from oily with constant but mild cystic acne (usually on my chin) to zero spots and just a slight oiliness. However, since lockdown I’ve noticed my skin has changed again on my chin. The pores on my chin and sometimes a few around my nose are constantly clogged and bumpy.
Avatar n tn ) and excess body hair in general and extremely oily skin. I know that there is definitely an underlying problem with this acne and facial hair and feel that hormones must be in play. I am on birth control, but even when I was off of it I have very regular periods so I don't think that I have PCOS. I am wondering if the hypothyroidism has anything to do with it? Any suggestions?
Avatar n tn It has now been three weeks post-accutane, and I am starting to get more and more whiteheads. Not the big inflamed whiteheads I used to get but it looks like things are returning. My dermatologist prescribed retin a micro. I was really hoping accutane would finally be the answer and am reluctant to start another treatment that is said to cause initial breakouts and red, irritated, and peeling skin.

Avatar n tn About 10 years ago when it first began I was put on Accutane and that seemed to get rid of it for about 5 years. Now it is back and just as bad as it was prior to Accutane. My dermatologist said that typically for someone with my condition Accutane isn't prescribed but since it worked before she thinks it would work again. I am not sold on the idea of taking Accutane as it's side effects are numerous and I am trying to have a baby.
Avatar n tn Hi Dr. Rockoff I am a 26 year old guy who has experiecned acne for half my life, probably even more. I went on accutane 3 times, ages 15, 17 and 20. After that I have tried proactiv and every medication a dermatologist could imagine. Nothing besides accutane ever worked. At this point, I don't see myself growing out of it. I went to get a facial last week and the aesthetician said that I don't have oily skin and that what I have is not acne but ingrown hairs.
Avatar f tn My dermatologist prescibed me Lac Hydrin (12% ammonia lactate) because my face was getting rough like sandpaper, and this has made my skin smooth. However, my skin is so thin, so when my skin feels smooth and freshly exfoliated, it also feels tight and thinner. He prescribed me metronidazole cream for the redness. I haven't noticed any effects.

Avatar f tn I'm 9 weeks pregnant and have always had bad skin aka oily and in need of dermatology intervention. I was on clindamicine(sorry about the spellings!) And tretinoin but they are no longer safe to use and I haven't been in touch with my dermatologist since I found out I was pregnant does anyone know of anything safe and effective to use on my face, it's breaking out awful and caking on make up isnt making things better. Thanks!
Avatar m tn Hello, It is true that accutane has plenty of side effects. It may cause cheilitis and dry lips but thinning of skin and hair loss are less frequent side effects. From your symptoms first of all hypothyroidism should be ruled out. The second possibility to be ruled out is of vitamin D deficiency.
Avatar n tn s of dollars on treatments that did not work in the end, and hated my appearance. When I started Accutane, my skin suddenly responded and within a few months my skin looks the best it has ever looked. It is at least 80-90% better. I have had the side effects of lips peeling, my jaw is stiff (although I grind my teeth and I have braces right now) and my lower back gets sharp pains some days, but I am going to troop through it and drink more water and exercise more.
Avatar m tn It sounds like the skin flora has been altered and maybe you have yeast overgrowth. Is there any way to stop the Accutane and use neem soap and other less drying treatments? I would see a urologist to have a look so that you get the best possible treatment for your penile skin, but 100% aloe vera would be a good moisturizer. You may also need Lotrimin cream if it is a yeast overgrowth. I understand that acne can be a huge problem.
Avatar f tn i always believed those tablets did me harm.. at the time my eyes were dry and skin too... was told to stay out the sun and that my mucus membranes would temporarily dry out... fast forward to now... years after stoppin the tablets.. and this is what i am left with.. .is there a proven link i wonder??
Avatar n tn this is about my 3rd month i think at 40mg and i have noticed that my head is actualy peeling (please be mature) i am not circumsized so i do have skin over it but the tip of my skin has really puffed out and tured red and i actually have extremly bad pain sometimes like a really bad stinging like were it hurts to walk i have tired mosturizer on my head and the skin over it well i cant see my head anymore because when i pull the skin back to see how its bin i cant because of the pain i cant real
Avatar f tn My face and hair have become so oily. I can't stand it. It make me feel dirty. Does anyone else have this problem? What did you use to make it stop?
Avatar n tn I have seen a local Derm who said there was no scarring on my scalp and no real skin issues associated with my hair loss. In 2004 I took a course of Roaccutane for acne and noticed some thinning after the course finished. I was told that this was a known side effect, but that the hair would grow back. It has been over four years!!! My hair is uniformly thinned out across the entire scalp.
Avatar n tn If that is the case, the doctor could have treated it with something other than accutane. How long have you been off accutane and how long have you been treated for depression/anxiety? Was it during the time you were on accutane or once off of it? My gut feeling is that once the accutane is completely out of your system, your depression and anxiety will get back to where they were before.
Avatar m tn t willing to permanently dry out my oily skin. I have naturally oily skin and - it is generally healthy. This is truly causing me anxiety - I have taken a photo of the worst area on my chest. I have tried drinking Turmeric mixutres and using neem directly on my chest - but it only seems to be getting worse. Im not sure why my arms cleared up but my chest remains infected?? Could it be something in the water I shower in?
Avatar n tn Why do you wait a year to prescribe topical treatment after Accutane? What skin care regime do you recommend? Do you prescribe antibiotics if the Accutane doesn't perform well? It has been difficult to get rationale for Accutane treatment. Thank you for your advice...
Avatar n tn thank you your information gave me the answer i was looking for the past month.
Avatar f tn When I wake up my skin is so oily and my hair is also. Why?? Anyone else having this problem and if u are, what's the sex of the baby? I read oily skin and hair means boy! Is it true?
789585 tn?1289952561 i cannot take it anymore i dont know what to do and im not even sure what exactly is causing it . the skin on my face is very sensitive and very dry , but also shiny and oily at the same time. what also could be causiong it , is that i was on acne meds ( diane35) ( which also regulated my period) and my mother decided to take me off these meds because i was taking so many pills, and this one was unnessary.she also says that it may have caused my ibd( which is probably not true!
